Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Malcolm was a total game–changer. He started Liberty Law Firm from scratch, and even though the other lawyers in Muzik tried to shut him down, he kept winning case after case. Now, everyone who used to give him the cold shoulder was kissing up to him, hoping he’d take their Toughest cases. Word on the street was that Liberty Law Firm was booked solid for three years.
Sara never saw Malcolm’s face since he was always in Mumzik, and she had zero run–ins with the guy. It blew her mind that Malcolm had ties to Selina and had flown all the way from Mumzik to Sokovis just to help Selina with a lawsuit.
“Look, Mrs. Harvey, Bobby Nash, Sara’s lawyer, said, throwing out that hint before he took off, “you should probably seule this thing before it goes
to court
Quinton caught up with Sara and the spilled the beans. “Him?! How did Selina pull in a bag fish like Malcolm
“Honey, what do we do? We can’t let Manuel get thrown in jail and dragged through the mud over this!”
Quinton looked serious. He peeked back at the restaurant and said, “Honey, stay cool. We’ll figure something out. Let’s roll!”
Selina walked Malcolm to his hotel.
“See, Selina” Didn’t I tell you to count on me? The Harvey family lawyer nearly wet himself when he heard my name. Feels good, right Malcolm couldn’t help but show off, standing tall and tough at six–foot–two.
“Uh–huh, you rock, Malcolm!” Selina agreed, totally genuine.
Lydia was
was feeling a bit left out. “Hey, what about me? I need some love, toot
“You’re super cool too, Lydia All of you are the greatest and just awesome in my book! Selina smoothed things over with both Lydia and Malcolm Grinning from ear to ear, Lydia and Malcolm hopped out of the car. Selina checked the time–it was already live in the afternoon. She’d had her fun for the day, it was time to head home.
As Selina zoomed down the freeway toward the Brady manor, a bright yellow Lamborghini Aventador pulled up next to her. The guy behind the wheel was none other than Manuel’s main man, Caleb
“Selina, didn’t think I’d bump into you out here,” Caleb yelled over, all chill and casual with one hand on the wheel. He sounded like ice as he chatted through the rolled–down window, “Nice Bugatti Veyron Mr. Brady booked you up with, but it takes skill to drive, not just a sweet ride. You’re practically wasting that thing!”
Selina kept mum while cursing in her heart, ‘Did I miss something before I left the house today! I’m supposed to be happy hanging with Malcolm and Lydia just having a blast. And now this! First, the whole mess with Quintin and Sara and now Caleb’s trying to stir up drama?
Ignoring Selina’s silence, Caleb went on. “Man, you’re cold. Manuel’s your brother and you’re treating him like this–do you really want to see him. behind bars?”
“Yes” was all Selina said, short and to the paint. She rolled up her window. Stepping hard on the gas, her Bugatti Veyron left Caleb eating dust vanishing down the road.
“Argh!” Caleb was ticked off, grinding his teeth. He felt like smashing his car into hers, flipping it over just to make a point. He couldn’t believe she’d just admit to such a mean move, not even trying to hide it. In his mind, no way could Selina be a real Harvey, not the sister of Ashley, and definitely not someone who deserved a dream car like the Bugatti Veyron, something Caleb couldn’t even touch. He floored his Lamborghini, trying to keep up with her on the empty highway stretch. Catching up to Selina, Caleb gave her the finger, sneering. “You can’t win just by gunning it, you need actual skills”
Selina stayed ice–cold, barely throwing him a look, hit the gas, jerked the wheel right. Whoosht She flew past Caleb’s Lamborghini like it was nothing.
Caleb’s frustration boiled over as Selina’s Bugatti left him in the dust. As a hotshot heir with a big ego, he wasn’t about to let her show him up. He floored it, hell–bent on passing her.
But Selina was slick, dodging and blocking Caleb at every turn, keeping it safe and making sure they didn’t crash.
Caleb kept trying, but nothing worked. He couldn’t get ahead! And it wasn’t because his ride was any less cool. It was like Selina had a sixth sense- she knew every move he was gonna make. Caleb, who was a star racer among the rich kids in Sokovis, thought he was way better than some country girl like Selina. But here she was, owning the road and making him feel clueless
His mind on that, Caleb almost missed it–Selina swerved left just as roadwork popped up in front of him in a split second, he lifted his foot off the gas–braking was too risky–and held onto the wheel like his life depended on it
With a sound of crash, his pricey Lamborghini was toast. The airbag popped, smacking him in the face, and there he was, blood on his forehead, knocked out cold inside the wrecked car. Meanwhile, Selina’s Bugatti Veyron just sped away
Back at the Brady manor, Selina pulled up just as Trevon was getting home from work.
Chapter 25
“Hey, wifey, what are the odds,” he said with a smile
“Tell me about it, hubby” Selina replied.
They gave each other that look, keeping up their perfect couple act in front of the household staff as they strolled into the house.
Devin caught the scene and felt pure joy. He’d watched Trevon live solo for years, never replaceing a smart woman that caught his eye. Trevin’s lonesome life seemed okay to him, but deep down, Devin knew it was kinda sad. Now, with Selina around, Trevon seemed truly happy. It warmed Devin’s heart, but he also worried, Selina cut ties with her family, the Harvey family, and was pretty much on her own. Devin liked her–she had a real charm, not like those flashy girls who always tried to snag Trevon. Selina was special to Trevon, but her bold ways could rub the Hudson family the wrong way. With the Brady family not fully on board with her yet, she was in a tough spot……
