Oops, I’ve Been Exposed -
Chapter 21 by Lorelei Thunder
Coincidentally, Pamela saw a familiar silhouette walking out next to her as she walked out of the hospital.
“Woody?”
He had already vanished around a corner before she could take a closer look.
She shook her head and muttered, “It couldn’t be him.”
She had heard that a VIP had been admitted into one of the special wards. No one was allowed to go there.
She figured she was just seeing things because of her exhaustion.
As for the matter of Woody injuring her mother and brother, Pamela decided to settle scores with him after the charity banquet.
After all, the development of the company is more important. The opportunity wouldn’t last forever. She had to focus. She couldn’t afford to be bothered by trivial matters.
“Why are you here, Pamela? Are you unwell?” an old man carrying a bag of medication asked excitedly. He quickly removed his face mask.
Pamela was still thinking about what had just happened. Hence, the man’s sudden appearance surprised her.
She replied, “Mr. Evans, I’m here to visit a patient.”
The man was Shane. The worry on his face faded when he heard that. He said with a smile, “It has been tough for you all these years without Woody. You have to manage such a big company by yourself.
“But it will be over soon. You’ll be able to relax in six more months.”
Pamela was confused. “What do you mean by six more months?”
Shane replied, “Woody will be back in six more months. He’ll be able to take some of that pressure off your shoulders. He graduated from a prestigious university, after all. He will definitely be of great help to you.
“Why are you … Do you not remember the day Woody is released from prison? Don’t worry. I’m not blaming you or anything. You must have been too busy and forgot about it. It’s okay. I’ve always kept it in mind. I’ll let you know when the time comes.”
Pamela was bewildered. Woody had already gotten out of jail. What was Shane talking about?
Then, she noticed the medication in Shane’s bag. They were for Alzheimer’s disease. She finally understood.
The medications were all from the cheapest brand, too.
Pamela had a colleague who bought the same medication for her family member because their family wasn’t well-off. She had seen those medications before. That was why she recognized them.
Shane instantly became nervous. While avoiding eye contact, he explained, “I only have light symptoms. It doesn’t hinder me much. I can still get on with my daily routine.
“It’s just that I will forget some of the contents I’ve already talked about in class. It caused small minor issues but nothing major …
“You two should get pregnant when Woody comes out. I can even take care of the baby for you.”
Pamela looked at him with a horrified expression. Then, she left emotionlessly.
She had already divorced Woody. Shane was nobody to him. She had nothing to say to a senile old man.
“I must’ve said something to make her angry.”
Shane murmured to himself with a remorseful expression, “I shouldn’t have talked so much when I know I’m not in my right mind. That was stupid of me!”
Pamela went back to the ward and told her parents about what happened.
She thought it was just an ordinary incident, but they thought otherwise.
Trudy’s eyes lit up when she heard that Shane had Alzheimer’s disease and that Woody hadn’t sought him out yet.
That was a great chance! They could use this opportunity to get some money out of Shane. It was payback for the beating they received from Woody.
