Chapter 35

Stella assumed that Jessica had snapped a picture of her and Yoel so she could spill the beans to Brian.

Jessica was such a cunning woman.

She could already imagine just which words Jessica would use to describe the whole scene to Brian.

Stella was right on the money as Jessica texted Brian, Brian, what’s going on with Stella? I saw her at the hospital with Yoel earlier.”

Brian responded with a simple question mark.

Then, Jessica sent him the picture of Stella and Yoel together. “That’s what I saw. Yoel sent Stella to the hospital. He was even carrying Stella’s bag for her. They look super close.”

Brian, who was having dinner at home, immediately turned sullen upon the news.

“Mr. Foley, the herbal soup is ready. Should I serve you some, or should I serve it when Mrs. Foley comes home?” Yvonne asked Brian.

Mr. Foley had specifically ordered her to brew some herbal soup that would be good for the stomach when he returned.

Brian glanced at her, his mood clearly dampened. “Tell her to drink some once she gets home.”

“Are we eating dinner?” Yoel asked once they got in the car.

Stella’s mind was clearly elsewhere. So, when she heard him, she responded, “Let’s do this next time. My hand hurts right now. It’ll be my treat next time, Mr. Perkins.”

“Sure. How does the day after tomorrow sound?” Yoel regarded her with a smile.

Stella nodded agreeably. “That’ll do.”

Yoel suddenly stopped the car when it passed by a cafe. “Stella, give me a minute.”

“Sure,” Stella said. Then, she watched him leave and waited for him patiently.

Her phone chimed and she whisked it out to take a look at her notifications.

It was a text from Brian, “Where are you?”

Stella had a feeling he knew that she was with Yoel right now. So, she didn’t bother obfuscating anything.”

I’m out.”

Brian immediately responded, “On a date?”

Stella didn’t bother replying to that. She figured she might as well talk to him once she got home.

Just then, Yoel had returned with a cake. “You didn’t eat anything for dinner. This cake is for you. It’s quite

delicious. You should have some at home.”

Stella glanced at it. Since the wrapping was transparent, she could tell that it was a strawberry cake.

She was bemused to replace Yoel’s insistence on getting her strawberry–flavored anything.

Nonetheless, she took it and said graciously, “Thank you, Mr. Perkins. I failed to join you for dinner and dragged you to the hospital because of my car accident.”

“Honestly, you have no idea how grateful I am right now.”

“It’s nothing. If you think about it, you got into an accident because you’re my date. I have a duty to care for you.” Yoel’s melodious voice sounded as he drove.

Stella quirked a smile at his responsé before lowering the car window. The breeze ruffled her hair, messing it up.

She casually pushed her hair back, displaying her exquisite features.

Yoel caught a glimpse of it and was stunned by her beauty.

Suddenly, her phone rang, shattering the peaceful quiet

The caller was none other than Brian.

“Why didn’t you text me back?” Brian stood in the courtyard with a grim expression on his face.

Stella pressed the phone against her ear as she replied dispassionately, “I’m outside. I’ll talk to you when get back.”

Come home right now.” Brian’s tone was one that brooked no arguments.

Stella bit her lip and huffed. “I got it. I’m on my way home.”

Then, she didn’t hesitate to end the call.

She looked away and noticed that Yoel was staring at her.
