Chapter 70

Stella tilted her head to one side and laughed. “Who knows? Maybe I could win him over with my

temptress wiles.”

“What are you laughing at?” Brian growled.

She said, “Your naivety! Oh, how could the president of the mighty Foley Group be so naive? What do I have to lose by working together with Yoel?

“The most he’d want from me is a personal, physical favor. III just play along with him and be the innocent

woman he thinks I am

“If it

ks out, I could be an internationally known designer in no timel I’ll have a career and fame, not to mention adoration and money. I don’t see how I have anything to lose.

“You must be out of your mind! Having calmed down, Brian was starting to think Stella’s plan was pure

madness. “I told you, in another two years, I’ll help launch your career as a designer.”

“I don’t want to wait two years,” Stella cut him off brusquely. “I want to become a designer now, and I’ve

found someone else who can give me what I want. Why should I wait around for you?

“I’m all grown up now, Brian. I won’t wait around like a dog hoping you’d throw me a bone”

Brian was stumped. A dark look flashed in his eyes, and his chest tightened like there was something

lodged in his airway

He stared at Stella incredulously, noting the smirk on her face as she said, “This is my life. I’m the only one who gets to call the shots, and I don’t need you butting into my business!

With that, she turned and stormed out of the master bedroom.

Brian watched her leave, the ache in his chest making it hard for him to breathe.

Bernard came into the room after that and sensed the tension in the air. He walked up to Brian’s bed and

asked, “You all right. Brian?

Brian hurled a pillow at Bernard, his eyes like shards of ice as he snapped, “You tried to seduce her, didn’t

you?”

Bernard’s heart dropped. “No, she was the one who seduced me,” he lied.

He had overheard Brian and Stella’s argument earlier. He hadn’t expected Stella to spin such lies; she

made up the entire story of her seducing Bernard just to divorce Brian.

Bernard played along and said, “Brian, that woman is trouble. She’s been greeting me at the door for the

last few days, and she even asked for my number.”

Brian glowered at Bernard, his face skeptical. “As if she would ever do such a thing!”

“I’m not lying, Brian. I have her number on my phone. I can prove that she was the one seducing me if your don’t believe me,” Bernard said. He actually got Stella’s number from Jessica.

Brian frowned, “How?

“I ask

her out on a date. If she agrees to it, then you have your answer.”

Stella was sorting out her sketches in her room when she suddenly got a call from Bernard. “Stella, come.

downstairs and meet me in my car.”

“Why should I?” Stella asked grouchily.

“I have a way to help you get that divorce finalized,” Bernard answered.

Stella fell silent.

She wanted to get this mess sorted out as soon as possible and free herself from the predicament.

As such, she made her way downstairs as instructed.

She stepped out of the bungalow, her long dress billowing in the breeze as she approached the Pagani parked outside the yard.

She craned her neck and vaguely made out

The car window rolled down slowly to reveal Brian’s handsome but stoic profile. He looked intimidating

even when he was dressed casually

Stella’s breath hitched. She hadn’t expected to see Brian in the car.

The next second, she heard Brian point out accusingly, “You put on a dress to meet Bernard at midnight? Are you trying to seduce him?
