Our Right To Exist - Dragon King 3
Chapter 22 ~ Whoever THEY Are

The tunnel was watched every day.. the Supreme Court was moving forward with impeachment proceedings and Aurora was working on the lawsuit for the families of the victims. The attorney general would be prosecuting Pogue.. but none of the pack are happy about that.. since he’s the same man who charged Adrianna with murder.. He also came to the pack house with Hicks. So, to them, he wasn’t to be trusted either.

This morning, a dozen trucks entered the tunnel..never exited. So, now the monitoring will become extremely diligent.. eyes on, all the time. They will know if and when the President makes his move.

Draco walked into the conference room.. looking at Evander “Mom said she is getting evidence from the attorney general.. but a lot of it.. a good majority of it is redacted. So, to compensate for their lack of cooperation.. she is only sending every other page of the 913 pages of evidence she has. I can’t help it, I love that petty woman.”

Evander laughed “She’s not petty.. ask her.. she’s justified. She has told me that since I could walk. Like the time she glued Adrian’s shoes to the floor on the back deck? He tracked in mud on her clean floor. Petty? Nope.. justified. Or when she took all the top buttons off your baseball caps and replaced them with pompoms.. Why? Because it was your favorite way to punish me.. pop me on the head with that button. That shit hurt, dude! So Mom took the hurt away. Petty? Not one bit! Justified!”

Everyone was laughing when Aurora walked in with Olivia and Adrianna with Avery. She asked “What’s funny?” Draco coughed and said “I was telling them about the discovery the attorney general was getting from you.”

She nodded and growled “Mother fucker wants me to do all the work for him! Well, Good fucking Luck making sense of that garbled mess! I think three pages just had one period on it.. one had the words “incompetent frauds.” Referring to the doctors telling Pogue the advances they were making and how well they were working out. But the attorney general won’t know that!”

Adrianna said “Isn’t it a crime to withhold evidence?” Aurora laughed “It certainly is, in human court.. and according to THEIR laws.. Which, in itself, opens up a lawsuit against that useless Attorney General. I haven’t violated our laws, in the slightest.”

Everyone chuckled.. Caleb stopped.. looking at the computer screen.. “Trucks moving out of the tunnel.. heading west. Counted eight..so far.” Adrian said “We need to keep monitoring the tunnel. If they’re on the move.. they will do it in waves.. so they aren’t so glaringly conspicuous.”

Draco is shaking his head.. “No.. it doesn’t make sense.. They are aware of those cameras. We aren’t any smarter than they are.. they know we’re watching. This is a blatant diversion.. There has to be a separate entrance.”

Evander said “That would make sense. If Pogue is getting ready for the final push.. the Secretary of Defense wouldn’t let it be known.. and Silas is with him. The inventor of covert!”

Adrianna told everyone “Pogue is supposed to appear before the grand jury a week from tomorrow. So.. he has to make his move before then. If he has trucks moving out, they will only be two.. maybe three at a time. The eight right now.. is definitely a diversion. We need paws on the ground around Hurricane Mountain..”

Evander said “Absolutely.. and now. Blake arrange that ASAP.. I have a feeling a frontline is about to pop up in our backyard.”

Aurora said “Then we do this one of two ways. We dig in.. create our own frontline.. out an away from out pack.. Or we get a move on and hit him before his frontline is set up and active.”

Draco told everyone “I vote for digging in. Now… hear me out! We dig in.. get claymores set around our perimeter.. we dig a trench.. six feet wide.. ten feet deep.. the entire length of what we consider our frontline. We have the elves glamour the trench. The fairies can shimmer the majority of our troops. The witches remain with the pack.. cloaking it with an invisible shield.”

Adrianna nodded “It could work.. we know Pogue has only a thousand or so men. His artillery is another thing, altogether. I can probably think of something there.. as soon as we can determine he’s on the move.. and where he’s headed.”

Evander said “I know, if I was him.. I would already have a destination.. possibly halfway set up. Why haven’t we found it? That kind of thing isn’t easy to completely camouflage.”

Adrian and Caleb stood up.. “On it! We will start with satellite photos of the entire country.. we must have missed something. Maybe y’all should call Simon in here.. ask him his opinion. Maybe he will know something.. without knowing he knows.”

Evander nods.. then responds “Pogue is aware he has to be present to address the indictment. He can’t send his attorney.. nor can he appear by proxy. If he doesn’t, the impeachment proceeds in absentia. Mom taught me that.. and, in absentia, the one who hasn’t shown.. loses. So, our window narrows. We don’t have up to eight days.. I believe we have less than five.”

Caleb came running back in “Fort McNair is mobilized.. moving to set up at Gettysburg Battlefield. He’s making a statement. He considers this a civil war.. instead of a war between the states.. it’s a war between species!”

Adrianna responded “That makes perfect sense.. the bloodiest battleground in American history. 50,000 men died on that ground.. Each one fighting for what they believed in.. every one of them there to protect their home.. their way of life. A symbolic presentation of human solidarity. It’s genius.. in an insane kind of way.”

Blake asked “Don’t they say all geniuses are insane? Well.. whoever They are…”
