Paranormal Twins: The New Beginning -
Chapter 1: Jay
I stared at the plate of food my mother put in front of me. It looked normal, but I remembered watching her put something… Strange into it. I grimaced and pushed my plate away. After what Sage told me, I didn’t want to take any chances.
“Jay?” My mother asked when I stood up. “Aren’t you going to eat your breakfast?”
I shook my head and slung my bag over my shoulder. I started backing away towards the front door. “Actually, I forgot to tell you, but Sage wanted me to meet up at her house before school. Something about a last minute homework question or whatever.”
“Well… Okay, honey. Have a good day at school. I love you.” I muttered a quick response as I left my house, making my way to Sage’s, fiddling with the shark tooth on my bracelet.
Sage was unlocking her car when I got there. She smiled at me, pushing up her glasses. “Hey. I was just about to pick you up. What are you doing here?” I shrugged my shoulders at her and opened the back door, throwing my bag in her car. “What happened?” Sage asked.
I sighed and plopped into her passenger seat. I pulled on my seatbelt and shoved it onto the lock before I told her about what I saw my mom do. She jumped up and clapped her hands. “I told you! You’re a Vampire!” She exclaimed.
I rolled my eyes and turned the heat on. “I am not a Vampire, Sage. In case you haven’t used your brain in a while, there’s no such thing! They’re creatures people made up to sell stories like Dracula and Twilight. They aren’t true.” Sage just sighed, starting the car and driving to school. I crossed my arms. “This is ridiculous. You can’t seriously believe this stuff.” I looked at her and could tell she did believe what she was saying. I shook my head. “Do I need to prove it to you?” She didn’t say anything, and I threw my hands up, hitting them on the ceiling of her car. I rubbed my knuckles and said, “I won’t eat anything unless I make it myself. There won’t be any… whatever that stuff my mom puts in my food is. I’ll just have to prove that I’m not a Vampire, since I apparently can’t convince you otherwise.” I felt stupid. I’m making a deal to try to prove that I’m not a Vampire. What is my life?
Sage’s eyes widened and she slowed the car a little bit. She sped back up when the car behind us honked. She sped up. “You can’t! You’ll end up attacking someone!”
I ran my fingers through my hair. “I can’t believe you think all of this stuff is real. I thought you were more logical than this. I never took you for someone who believes all this… Nonsense. I’m surprised.” Before she could respond, I turned the volume to the car radio up and looked out the window. Sage took the hint and we sat in silence before she pulled into the school parking lot. I got out of the car, quickly grabbed my bag, and started walking to the school. She yelled my name and quickly ran up next to me, pulling her dyed red hair out from under her backpack.
“Come on, we always walk together. I’ll stop talking about this. I promise.” I hesitated before giving up and nodding. Sage smiled and started talking about how Chemistry was going to end up killing her with all the homework she had. I just laughed. The whole Vampire thing will blow over soon enough.
