Chose
If time were to replace
all of the memories we’ve had
I’d ask the sky for patience
and one more life to add
With every word I write
if I can give the moon to you
I’d choose the gift of love
over it all, my word is true
The day a storm inside
demanded me to walk away
I’d replace the strength to fight it
And always
choose you…
So this I say.
If dusk consumed my soul
regretting all that I have done
I’d choose to stay inside
the world that we’ve begun
If dreams were to replace
everything we’ve felt to date
I’d choose to stay asleep
With you
in my dreams…
So this I say.
I’d choose you over mountains
no matter how big they seem
I’d choose you over rivers
and swim against the stream
I’d choose you over deserts
and forever quench your soul
I’d choose you over all
and love you, don’t you know?
I chose you every time…
although,
you never chose me.
And so I say.
I crashed against the mountains
and drowned into the streams
The moon looked back in horror
and shook his head at me
My love disappeared
and succumbed into the storm
My heart told the sky
this cannot happen anymore
The dusk took back
all that has been lost
My sanity was the price
my foolishness had cost
The desert still remains
without rain so this I say
My dream was just a dream,
and I’ll be on my way.
So I chose again…
to leave
you.
