Anger and fear for her fuel him, turning his green glowing eyes into blood red. With a roar he yanks the chains, breaking them loose. First from the ceiling making debris rain down on his head but he didn't care, then he strain and pull until the silver chains gave and broke. Free, Casvan didn't stop to think, he only knows one thing, that his mate needed him.

With a single hard kick, the barred iron of his prison clanged to the ground. He stepped over it. He'd done it but it cost him, blood trickle from the new wounds inflicted on his body by doctor Elizabeth's experiments or whatever earlier today. Casvan's plan and patience to wait until his brother and sentinels arrived had cost him one of his strongest warriors and his own health.

But it was worth it,he would finally save his race from madness and extinction and that more than anything is what is important. Though now it ranked second in his heart, his mate has his utmost importance, but what kind of male would he be to his female if he didn't do his duty as a king.

He knows now is the time. His vision had only confirmed what his instinct had always told him. He could feel his brother's and warrior's essence getting closer and closer still, as their king he's connected to them. With his brother Kayak it is a two way bond, as his family and subject.

Same as it would be with his Kitten when they finally complete their bond. First he had to get to her, save her from the demented doctor because anytime now Queendom of Marlenia would be in utter and complete chaos!

Casvan races down the dungeon, heading straight to the direction his heart is pulling him, following that thread that bonds his Kitten to him from that first day when he tethered her to him.

Suddenly what feels like a hundred feets race towards him from all directions which is just from his front and back in the hallway to the infirmary. Deadly women dressed in brown uniforms rush him trying to do him in. Attacking him.

Casvan claws slid, his fangs getting sharper, his swatted, kick, batted and claw, his intentions were to maim but not kill. He wouldn't let the women provoke him into killing them and ruining the lives of his own people. Not after everything he'd gone through to make sure his race got a chance at survival.

He wants them to have the chance of getting a mate just like he was fortunate to have his Kitten, his Queen! But the women were tenacious, trained for war and destruction. They keep coming at him like a swarm of locusts.

Though they were human they fought with ferocious savagery, he had to up his ante in order to not die in their hands before he got to his mate. Now that he knew they weren't as fragile as they look. Casvan punched, slash and slammed the women away from him. A deafening loud blaring sound suddenly pierce the air, distracting the women.

Finally!

He thought, knowing what that sound meant. His ears twitch as loud growls and snarls carried all the way to where he was fighting. He used the women's distraction to his advantage, hitting hard and fast until they all fell around him groaning in pain.

He didn't stop to check on them, he knew they weren't fatally injured. He'd made sure of that. He raced down the hall, his heart pounding with dread for his mate. If anything happens to his Kitten there would be hell to pay.

No!

He has to stop thinking about that right away! Nothing, absolutely nothing will come to his Reyna!

Reyna

Reyna felt the cold bite of iron on her hands even before she was completely conscious. Her eyes blink repeatedly to make sense of what's going on and where she was. She was on a bed in the infirmary she was sure of that, her feet and hands tied to the bed with silver chains. Doctor Elizabeth, Mark, doctor Benjamin and four guardians were all inside the room.

“Doctor, I really don't think it's wise to do that. Reyna is the heir and blood of Marlene, the people would revolt if any harm comes to her.” Reyna recognizes the voice. It was doctor Benjamin's.

“I know what I'm doing Ben, though the Marlenias founded this Queendom they weren't alone. There are others who contributed as much. When I show them the truth about this little traitor it wouldn't matter who takes over the Queendom. Cassandra has lost her touch and she can no longer lead us. I really would like your support so I asked you, "Are you backing out?”

“No, I'm not. You still have my support but it doesn't mean I have to stay and watch you. I'm leaving, if there's anything more I will be in the observation room,” doctor Benjamin says and strides out.

“I see you are finally awake,” Elizabeth said, when she heard the chains on Reyna clang and rattled.

“What is the meaning of this?! Have you gone crazy Elizabeth? Where's my mother? I want my mother! I know she would never allow this!” Reyna shouts angrily, pulling at her hands. Elizabeth back was to Reyna when she turned around there's an evil almost maniacally glint in her eyes. A bag of light blue liquid in her hands.

“You know I will never have even thought about doing this if Cassandra hasn't given me her permission. She knows, dear Ray Ray and she doesn't care she hates you.” Reyna's heart sank lower, her eyes misted with tears but she refused to let it go.

“You're lying! My mother doesn't hate me! And she wasn't raped. And my father didn't rape her, he's not a monster but a good man. He was killed during the second blue mist outbreak my mother told me about herself. Let me go now! you monster before she replaces out and have you hang for this!”

“Oh don't fret. I have no intention of keeping you here. I will let you go, after I show you who the real monster is!” she said with a smug smile. Reyna struggled in her chains when she saw Doctor Elizabeth coming towards her with the bag of blue liquid and a giant syringe filled with what looked like black blood.

“What are you doing? What the fuck are you going to do to me?!” Reyna's voice was filled with panic.

“Bringing forth the monster within,” Elizabeth replied, then nodded at the guardians.

“Hold her!” Doctor Elizabeth commands. So many hands press Reyna down on the bed. Fear and confusion made her fight more violently, trying to stop whatever doctor Elizabeth was trying to do.

Doctor Elizabeth lifted the syringe and stabbed Reyna straight in the heart. An agonizing pain lanced into Reyna from head to toe, pain she'd never felt flooded her. She could feel something happening deep inside her from a cellular level.

Deep growls fill the room. Her bones felt like they were breaking, she yanked her hands and the chains around. Her gums hurt, something sharp protruded out of them cutting into her lips. Her nails become longer and darker turning into claws.

“Oh shit! she's changing hold it down!” someone screamed. Reyna screams and whips out her hands breaking one of the chains around her hand. Hot blood spray down on her face. Something slammed into her head and a moment later another syringe plunged into her neck. Her body jerked, convulsing then finally slumped.

“Abominable monster.” The last one she heard before she instantly became unconscious.

When she next opened her eyes she could still feel the bed underneath her. She was so weak and heavy, a slave to Elizabeth drugs. Reyna could still taste something metallic on her tongue. Her eyes fluttered, her sight blurry, it took a while for her to fix her eyes on the old woman's face.

“Though she didn't love you, blood still mattered to Cassandra. You were the heir, the future queen of Marl; it was why you were spared from the same fate as the others. You were supposed to be strong, rule and when the time comes take a consort, so you can bear the next heir that would carry on the line, but you turn out to be such a huge disappointment!” doctor Elizabeth said, hanging up a bag of blue liquid on the long iron pole before injecting it into Reyna intravenously.

“Your great grandmother Marlene must be turning in her grave. That her own blood is such a hideous beast, must enrage her. But no worries, I will make sure you pay for betraying your Queendom, it's going to be such a great surprise!” she continues with an evil laugh.

Reyna wished she could talk back, asked her what she's talking about, but she could only moan, she remembered tasting blood and fighting the guardians while they held her for the crazy doctor. She had never known pain as when doctor Elizabeth had stabbed her with that syringe. Whatever it was. It was not good. Reyna had thought she was about to die. She never thought she could survive that agony but it has gradually subsided, until it was a dull ache in the back of her mind. It left a bitter after taste in her mouth.

Now that she was no longer screaming and writhing in pain,Reyna wondered if Casvan could feel that pain as well. She hopes not. She would never wish anyone that kind of agony and maybe that was why both her mother and doctor Elizabeth consider her to be weak. Their emergency lights suddenly started blinking red. accompanied by loud sounds.

The loud blaring sound was deafening, the red flaring light is a sign their perimeters have been breached. Even in this state Reyna tried to sit up, to get away and replace her mother. She just couldn't believe Cassandra would let Doctor Elizabeth torture her this way. Her mother didn't know she couldn't have. But Reyna couldn't deny that doctor Elizabeth's words got to her.
