Chapter 1246

Corentin picked her up and sat on the couch, soothing her like a child. “Is your stomach hurting?”"No."

“Don’t worry, that old man won't dare to bother you again. Your baby will be born safely.” Corentinreassured her.

Ashlynn was not surprised at all. How could Cory stand a chance against Corentin?

After all, Corentin was his own son, an undeniable fact.

However, what about the Hilton family?

Cory knew about her pregnancy, and he wanted to take her away without Corentin“s permission, soit must have something to do with the Hilton family.

Nothing was that easy.

Ashlynn did not want to be caught in the middle of the battle between the Lloyd and Hiltonfamilies.

Cory was trying to figure out how to tell the Hilton family about this when he received a call fromBeth.

Although Meredith was the daughter-in-law of the Hilton family, she was highly valued by old Mr.Hilton and had more power than his two sons.

It is often rumored that old Mr. Hilton was easier to fool than Meredith because of his age.

Cory prepared himself mentally and answered the phone, “Hello?”

“Mr. Lloyd, how is Jeremy doing at the Lloyd Group? Has he caused you any trouble?”

“No, Jeremy is smart and capable. I really like him,” Cory said politely.

“That's good. But there's one thing I don't understand. I need to ask Mr. Lloyd about this. I heardthat Corentin has another woman and has a child with her. Is this true?” Beth asked.

Cory could not deny it since Beth came prepared. His lies would be futile. “It did happen. I'mashamed, and I reprimanded him severely.”

“Is a reprimand enough?” Beth smiled unsincerely. “Mr. Lloyd, the Hilton family agreed to marryMeredith to Corentin because of his outstanding character. Now that this has happened, don't youthink you should brush up on your education skills?

Cory's expression turned ugly.

No woman had ever talked to him like this.

Corentin was at fault, though, and there was not much Cory could do to retort. Corentin isdetermined for the child to be born. I'm afraid it's not that simple. Perhaps we should just...forgetabout the marriage?”

Beth sneered silently.

Forget about it?

That sly old fox!

If the marriage were called off, her family would be bombarded with criticism.

She had to do something about it.

“I believe that you dislike that woman even more than I do. Don't you think that she will onlybecome a burden to Corentin?”

Beth's words struck Cory.

Ashlynn was Salvatore’s ex-wife, and Cory had always disliked her.

If Salvatore had not insisted on keeping her, he would have disposed of her earlier on!

“Then what do you propose?”

“I will wait until Corentin goes on a business trip. I'll take care of that woman then. Can you let himgo on a business trip?” Beth said.

Cory saw that she was willing to dispose of Ashlynn and thought, “Why not kill two birds with onestone?’

Beth said, “I know you're feeling good about this, but don't forget, we're on the same boat.”
