Chapter 1247

Cory was caught off guard, but he managed to compose himself and say, “Beth, you don't need toworry about that. We are a family now, and we have to do things for the sake of our children.Nobody cares more about this than I do.”

"With your words, I feel reassured. Meredith actually loves Corentin. Otherwise, I would never havetaken this matter into my hands,” Beth said.

“There are guards outside Corentin’s villa. It's not easy for you to get close to Ashlynn. One of themis a man named Owen. You can look him up,” Cory said.

After hanging up the phone, Cory sat there with a composed expression.

He had to teach Salvatore a lesson.

In the evening, Corentin came to the villa and had dinner with Ashlynn. As expected, he planned tostay the night.

“I have to go to the neighboring city tomorrow for work. I'll try to come back and have breakfastwith you the day after tomorrow.” Corentin took her hand.

“Don’t worry about me. I'll be fine here,” Ashlynn said indifferently.

She was trapped here waiting to give birth to a child, and no matter how kind

Corentin was to her, her heart was cold.

“Are you in a bad mood?”

Ashlynn looked at him and said, “Would you feel good if you were locked up here?”

Corentin tried to comfort her, “When I come back, I'll take you out.”

“It doesn’t matter.” Ashlynn refused his offer.

Corentin did not feel angry with her rejection. As long as the baby in Ashlynn’s womb was safe andhealthy, he could accept all her tantrums.

The next night, Corentin did not show up and was still in the neighboring town.

Ashlynn did not care.

She went back to her room as soon as it got dark after walking with Chichi.

Ashlynn gave up on trying to persuade Corentin to remove the surveillance cameras in thebathroom. He just would not.

After washing and returning to bed, Ashlynn idly scrolled through her phone, feeling someone'sgaze fixed on her body.

She knew that Corentin was busy with company affairs, so it was impossible for him to be watchingher.

She figured it was the surveillance cameras that were giving her goosebumps.

After Corentin finished his work, he turned on the monitoring software on his mobile phone andsaw that Ashlynn had fallen asleep, still holding her phone in her hand.

She was sleeping like a defenseless child.

Chichi, who was on the bedside table, was curled up into a fluffy ball, looking warm.

Corentin looked at Ashlynn’s face, thinking about what would happen after the baby was born, andthe corners of his mouth twitched.

In the middle of the night, Ashlynn was fast asleep.

Chichi sharply pricked up its ears and called out, “Woof!”

"What's wrong...” Ashlynn turned over sleepily but felt someone beside the bed. When she was justabout to get up, someone covered her mouth. “Mmm!”

She took a deep breath, and a pungent smell entered her nostrils.

Her body became weak, and she passed out.

Ashlynn felt the glare of the light and blinked a few times before she could see where she was.

The pungent smell of potion, the doctor in a white coat, and... Beth standing next to him.

"You..." Ashlynn wanted to struggle but found that she could not move.

“Anesthesia has been administered. In a few minutes, the child in your belly will die,” Beth saidsharply.

“You can't do that...” Ashlynn said weakly.

Beth looked at her contemptuously and said, “Why can't I? You can destroy my marriage, and nowI'm not allowed to retaliate? I've seen a lot of women like you who will do anything in order to getrich men.”
