Chapter 1272

Jeremy noticed Ashlynn was feeling nervous. He looked to where she was looking and saw Corentinwalking in their direction.

He could not ignore the hostility that he was emitting.

Ashlynn was sitting straighter and straighter as he advanced and could barely breathe.

However, Corentin only passed by their table and did not pause for a split second at

all.

It was as though he was only here for lunch.

“Now you are protected by the Hilton family, don't need to be afraid of him. From now on, you willstay with the Hilton family. Don't go back to Corentin anymore,” Jeremy

said.

A small flame of hope ignited in her.

Could she really do this?

She remembered the true colors of Corentin under his suit and tie and was still somewhat feelingunnerved.

Plus, why should the Hilton family go against the Lloyd family just because of her?

She did not even dare to dream about it.

“Did you hear me?” Jeremy asked.

Ashlynn only assumed that he was just offering on impulse and said, “I am really grateful that youhelped me so much, really. You don't have to get into a conflict with Corentin just because of me.”Corentin was a monster that would rather die with you than give you a chance to live.

“I don't like him,” Jeremy made an excuse for himself to protect his sister. “He could send you overeasily, but it will be hard for him to take you away. Otherwise, what kind of place does he think ourhome is?"

Ashlynn’s phone in her bag rang.

The bag was purchased by Jeremy a few days ago.

She took out the phone and saw that the caller was Corentin.

"Corentin?” Jeremy could guess it easily from her facial expression. He then snatched her phoneaway and declined the call.

"You..."

"Check please!” Jeremy raised his hand.

The waiter came and handed him the check.

After paying for the meal, Jeremy then dragged Ashlynn away.

Ashlynn was still feeling uneasy on the way back.

Was it really okay to just hang up on Corentin that way?

"You are messing around.” Ashlynn could not help but blame Jeremy.

H

Jeremy crossed his legs. “I said it. The Hilton family will protect you. I am not kidding.

“You had suffered for the past twenty-something years. No longer.”

"Everyone in the Hilton family will protect you and not let you be hurt.”

Beth and Marshall did not work the entire day, and they were pouring themselves into theinvestigations about Ashlynn.

Beth felt worse and worse as she went through the replaceings. Her tears flowed more as she wentalong.

Why was her daughter dumped at the filthiest slum? Was she even married before? Was her ex—husband a murderer?

There were only a few paragraphs and no photos. She did not even know what he looked like. However, even if he was a handsome man, he was still from the slum and was a gang member, onlygraduating from high school.

How could her precious daughter be ruined by someone like that?

When she knew that her daughter had graduated from a prestigious university, she even felt herheart wrenching.

Even when she grew up in the slum, her daughter was still the diamond, shining so brightly.

If she was not stolen away by someone else, her life should have been at her pinnacle, and no onecould have outperformed her!

Jeremy brought Ashlynn out for the whole afternoon.

Ashlynn was always zoning out and making minimal expressions every once in a

while.

She was afraid of her phone ringing and the haunting calls swearing to hunt her

down.

When it was close to five, they finally went back home.

Aunt Cher came by as soon as they entered the house. Her warning gaze swept past Ashlynn, andthen she said politely, “Young Master, Mr. Lloyd and Ms. Hilton are here for dinner.”

Ashlynn was stunned.

Mr. Lloyd... Corentin and Meredith.

Why did they come here for dinner? Did they not cancel the engagement? Were they backtogether?

“Does my parents know about this?” Jeremy asked.
