Chapter 1274

Beth seemed to be in distress and kept glancing at Ashlynn with tears in her eyes.

Knowing better than to act too close, Marshall said casually, “We've been really busy and haven'thad the time to check on you. That's not the Hilton's way. Beth has adopted you, so we are going tobe a family from now on. You can stay here for as long as you want. By the way, I've ordered theservants to clear out a room for you, so you don't have to stay in the guest room anymore. Take alook at your room later at night. If you need anything else, just tell me or your... Auntie.”

Naturally, Marshall was referring to Beth. He knew he could not let his emotions show but could notquite keep them under control.

Ashlynn was shocked and thought to herself, They sure put in a lot of effort to put

on a show for Corentin.’

“Thank you..." she muttered, not wanting to risk rejecting them.

Beth remained quiet the entire time.

“Mrs. Hilton, Mr. Hilton, Ms. Meredith and Mr. Lloyd are here.”

Ashlynn tensed. The group headed to the door, and she stood behind everyone as she recalledrunning into Corentin at noon. She could not help but wonder if he had

come for dinner because of that encounter.

“Uncle, Auntie!” Meredith waltzed in with her arm around Corentin’s, and Ashlynn spotted themright away.

"Corentin said he has time today and wants to come here with me!” Meredith said

smugly.

“I hope I'm not intruding,” Corentin said politely before looking up to stare directly at

Ashlynn.

Startled, Ashlynn jolted in fear.

"Of course not. Come on in,” Marshall said.

As the two walked in through the door, Meredith glared at Ashlynn, desperately hoping she woulddisappear.

Beth did not want to welcome Corentin into her home. She had found out that he

had impregnated her daughter, all the while engaged to Meredith.

Beth did not speak until they took their seats, which was extremely unlike her.

"Auntie, are you feeling unwell? You look pale.” Meredith reached out for her hand, and Bethimmediately moved away from Meredith's touch.

Stunned, Meredith thought, “I must have seen it wrong. Why would Auntie move away from mytouch? I guess she's really feeling unwell."

Noticing that she had acted inappropriately, Beth forced a smile and said, “I'm feeling a bit underthe weather. I've seen a doctor, so I'll be fine. I just need more rest.”

“That's good to hear.”

Ashlynn sat next to Jeremy and noticed Beth's odd reaction as well but did not read too much into itas she knew just how much Beth loved Meredith and how far she was willing to go.

Just as she was absorbed in her own thoughts, she noticed that someone had placed a piece ofmeat on her plate.

She looked up and immediately felt troubled when she noticed that it was from Corentin.Meredith widened her eyes in disbelief and anger. “Ashlynn, have you broken your arms orsomething? Can't you get your own food?”

Beth's expression darkened; Marshall wanted to interfere but felt slightly taken aback by Corentin’saction.

“You are the one with broken arms! You are a Hilton, too, and you should at least act like it,” Jeremysaid mercilessly to protect his sister.
