Chapter 1275

Humiliated, Meredith's face twisted in anger.

“Jeremy!” Marshall warned

Jeremy ignored them and placed a piece of meat onto Ashlynn’s plate as well. “Here, have somemore. Our cook is great at cooking steak.”

He placed sliced steak onto her plate.

Ashlynn felt like she was walking on fire from being served by both Jeremy and Corentin and facingMeredith's wrath.

“Can't they just ignore me? I'm just an outsider. This is all Corentin’s fault,’ she thought.

“Looks like you are having the best time here. You sure are great at getting people on your side.”Corentin shot her a cold, vicious look.

She could understand the threat that was hidden between his words but forced herself to calmdown. If she were having a great time, Corentin would be there to make sure she suffered.

“I remember that I said I'm adopting Ashlynn. I'm sure you haven't forgotten about that,” Beth said.Corentin stared at Ashlynn intently. “I suppose I've misunderstood.”

He had thought that Ashlynn would suffer here instead of being well taken care of.

Ashlynn lowered her gaze, wondering why it felt as though they were fighting.

Meredith wanted to say something but suppressed the urge by telling herself that Beth must have aplan.

The group fell into silence as they proceeded to eat wordlessly; Jeremy was the only one whoseemed unaffected and continued to serve Ashlynn food while explaining

the dishes to her.

Ashlynn stepped on Jeremy's foot for adding fuel to the fire, but he ignored it and smiled at her.As the dinner came to an end, Corentin and Meredith got up to leave, and the rest stood to seethem off.

Corentin stilled as he reached the entrance and turned around to stare at Ashlynn.” Are you gettinga kick from staying here now? Come along.”

Ashlynn looked at him nervously.

The feeling of being protected by Jeremy had been something that she yearned for, and she wantedto stay here forever, but she also knew that it was an unrealistic

thought.

For as long as Corentin existed, she would have nowhere to run to, and eventually, she would haveto return to him.

Ashlynn was about to walk forward when Jeremy grabbed her by the wrist. “You are not goinganywhere. I told you that this is your home from now on.”

Ashlynn did not want the situation to worsen, but even though she kept telling herself to shakeJeremy's hand off, she realized she could not move at all.

Corentin’s lips curled into a cold sneer as he walked over to Ashlynn confidently.

Ashlynn watched as he approached in fear, her heart threatening to give out. Just before she couldshove Jeremy away and leave before the situation escalated, someone stood before her.

She looked at her and was shocked when she saw Beth before her.

"Corentin, you are in our house right now. What exactly do you think you are doing?” Bethchallenged fearlessly.

Corentin halted, his expression darkening. “I'm just taking what's mine. Is there a problem?”

"You came with Meredith, and you want to leave with Ashlynn? Meredith is yours. Get that throughyour head.” Beth did not back away, as she was someone who was capable of dealing with all sortsof people at work.
