“I know that Anne is in the hospital. How is she?” Lucas asked.

Kathryn felt as though her mind had been read. “If Anthony replaces out, both you and Anne willsuffer.”

“Just lend her your phone. Anthony won't replace out.”

Kathryn began to waver. “Why would you call her? Do you have the means to help her?”

“I want to help her.”

Kathryn considered if agreeing to help was the right thing to do, it would mean that she wasbetraying Anthony, but at the same time, her heart ached for Anne.
