Chapter 755

Corentin looked at Ashlynn while sipping red wine. He put down his glass and asked, “Is this yourfirst time drinking red wine?”

“When I used to work somewhere else, I needed to drink and socialize. I did drink some back then.”Ashlynn put down her wine glass and said, “You saved me and invited me to dinner. You won't failto surprise me.”

Corentin’s slender fingers held the stem of the cup and gently shook it. “Then can you explain to mewhy you are so scared every time you see me? We don't seem to know each other, do we?”

“I'm sorry, I was rude. It's because you and my husband... look very similar. My husband was apersistent murderer who was punished by law and is now dead. That's why I was scared when I sawyour face, which looked exactly like his,” Ashlynn explained to him.

"Are we really that similar?” Corentin raised his eyebrows, expressing his curiosity.

"Yes, it's just that you wear glasses, and he doesn't.” Ashlynn reigned in her panic and looked atCorentin’s face.

“Is that so?" Corentin raised his hand, took off his glasses, and put them aside.

All of a sudden, Ashlynn sat up straight, her body tensed as she looked at the familiar face that hadhaunted her for years.

"We look really similar, apparently.” Corentin chuckled but did not put his glasses back on.Ashlynn’s breathing was still rapid, so she lowered her eyes, trying not to look at Corentin’s face."Are you afraid of him because he killed someone?” Corentin asked again.

Ashlynn told herself repeatedly the person in front of her was not Salvatore. He was Corentin.

She swallowed, “He is a terrible man, murderous, even... he even killed my parents. To escape fromhim, I cooperated with the police and sent him to prison...” When she said these words, her throattightened and shook in fear when she looked at Corentin.

Corentin frowned slightly. “That's really scary. Do you have any children?”

Ashlynn’s fingers on the table twitched. “No...”

With a wine glass in his hand, Corentin looked at her with his amber eyes, listening intently.

After eating, Corentin insisted on sending Ashlynn back.

Ashlynn could not refuse, so she could only say yes.

She dropped her down near her house.

Corentin did not get out of the car.

“Thank you for sending me back,” Ashlynn said.

Corentin remembered something and said, “You're welcome. I'm going to cooperate with yourcompany soon, and we will meet again. Goodbye.”

After speaking, he raised the windows and left.

Ashlynn stood there, thinking about what he had said. She did not know about this, and she did nothave a say in the matter either. She was just Ms. Vallois's assistant, and she only did what Annewanted her to do.

After having a meal with Corentin, her sense of uneasiness whenever she saw him was reduced. She simply could not associate the elegance of his demeanor with Salvatore.

Did God send him to cure her fear of Salvatore?

The next morning, just as Ashlynn was about to enter the elevator, she saw a familiar figure andhurried over. "Ms. Vallois!"

Anne smiled when she saw her. “Good morning, Ms. Thompson.”

The two entered the elevator one after the other.

“You're back!” Ashlynn said.

"Yes, I came back last night. It was a fun but tiring trip,” Anne said.

“Then you should rest for half a day.”

“Forget it, I haven't done work for several days. By the way, I brought you some sea urchins. You cantake them when you accompany me to the hospital at noon,” Anne said

"Ah? Thank you, Ms. Vallois, but you can keep them for yourself!” Ashlynn was flustered.

“There are a lot of them, and my children and I can't eat seafood. Anthony doesn't care much aboutsea urchins, so I want to give them away. I am only giving it to you, don't tell your colleagues!” Annelowered her voice.
