Chapter 768

"Since you are grateful about it, come sit down and drink with me?”

Ashlynn knew her capacity for liquor well enough.

Plus, she saw the liquor that Corentin was drinking. It was something expensive and strong, notsomething that she could drink

“I don't mean to make you drink. Just take it as a casual catch-up with me.” Corentin took an emptyglass and filled some liquor for her.

Ashlynn sat down and asked, “Can I really drink that much?”

ess

Ashlynn raised her glass and gulped. It felt so spicy that she covered her mouth. Her tears wereforced out. “Uhmm!”

Corentin’s dark eyes gazed at her, and then he poured her another half glass.

“Mr. Lloyd?”

“You drank too fast. Liquor should not be consumed this way.”

Ashlynn just wanted to finish up her drink and go.

Obviously, Corentin was not so easily entertained.

Therefore, she looked at the liquor before her and did not take another gulp.

“In fact, I had a marriage.”

Ashlynn was stunned. She looked at him blankly.

That was because, in his profile, he declared himself single. Was it because he divorced?"Something happened in the end, and then we parted ways.” Corentin swirled his liquor in the glassgently, and his attention was focused on the swirling alcohol.

“I did not know about this.” Ashlynn did not want to listen to his marriage story, but she just had tosit there and listen.

She felt pressured.

Corentin looked at her. “Aren't you curious?”

Of course. Ashlynn was not curious. They were people of two worlds. Corentin did not have anobligation to tell her the story.

“This is your personal matter. I don't mean to ask,” she said.

Corentin looked at her steadily as though his gaze was going to see it through her.

Ashlynn looked down, she felt on edge, and then she stood up. “Mr. Lloyd, I think I should go backnow. Where are Ms. Vallois's belongings? I will bring them back.”

“They are in her room. Let me lead you the way.” Corentin stood up, his legs stretched, but his bodyshook and fell toward Ashlynn.

Ashlynn lifted her hand subconsciously. “Mr. Lloyd!"

Corentin used one hand to prop himself up against the bar, then only managed to stabilize himself. He was only inches away from Ashlynn.

Ashlynn looked at the man who was holding his head down in front of her, her heart pounding. “Mr.Lloyd, are you alright?”

Corentin lifted his head and asked, “What do you think?”

Before she could respond, a white handkerchief covered her nostrils. “Umph!”

A strong smell entered her esophagus.

Before she blacked out, she saw a hostile pair of eyes without those glasses.

She panicked. What happened? Was it just a bad dream?

Was it not a bad dream?

The pair of eyes had appeared numerous times in her dreams, so this was a repeat of her baddream.

“You're up.”

Ashlynn turned around frantically and saw Corentin striding across the room without glasses.

She backed away subconsciously and went down the bed on the other side. “Mr. Lloyd..."

Corentin did not look at her but shifted his gaze to the wall and pointed. “That is the weddingphoto of my wife and I. Would you like to see it?”

Ashlynn looked to where he pointed. There was indeed a frame on the wall, but a veil covered it,and she could not see anything beneath.
