Chapter 785

She lied on the bed and trembled. “Getting hit by a car, cornered by some thugs...those were allyour doing.”

"You realized that?" He kissed her tentatively. “How else will I trap you? I was pissed that youcouldn't recognize your own husband. I shouldn't have...”

"Ah!" She gasped and tried to push him away. “Salvatore...”

“Call me Darling, like you used to,” he breathed heavily and requested.

Ashlynn shook her head in fear.

“It's alright. You will call me that again sooner or later. Tonight is going to be a night that you willnever forget...” He said, before kissing her obsessively.

By the time Ashlynn woke up again, it was already the next day. There was no one next to her, soshe laid dazedly on the bed to stare at the ceiling as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Are you awake?” Corentin walked inside with a plate of food in his hand.

She struggled to get up and glared at him with fear and anger in her eyes.

He sat down by the bed and stirred the soup gently. “You've been up all night, so you are probablyhungry. Eat up.” He moved the spoon toward her lips.

Ashlynn would rather die than to be fed by him, so she summoned up the strength to shove hishand away.

The spoon fell to the ground, and Corentin simply stared at the ground.

“You found me and married me again to make me suffer. Sure. I worked with the police to arrestyou. It makes sense that you want to seek revenge! Just kill me!”

“Kill you?" He turned around, not even the glasses he wore could conceal the dark looks in his eyes."Why on earth would I kill you? You will never understand how much I care for you.

“Understand? I only understand what a monster you are! You killed my parents, and you expect meto forgive you?”

He threw the plate across the room and the deafening sound startled her into moving backward."They deserved to die!” He dragged her closer, before continuing in a soft voice. “Did I startle you? It's just a plate. It won't hurt you. Don't be scared.”

Tears scrolled down her cheeks as her lips quivered, as the one thing that scared her most hadalways been him.

“They were just your foster parents. They weren't nice to you. They used you and bullied you. Didthey not deserve to die?” He touched her cheeks and wiped away her tears.

As they moved, the blanket on Ashlynn’s body slid off, revealing the red marks all over her body.Corentin’s amber—colored eyes darkened as he swiftly jumped onto the bed.

She burst into tears and punched him. “Just kill me, Salvatore! Ahh! Umph!”

He devoured her lips as though he was trying to swallow her whole.

Just then, his phone suddenly started ringing relentlessly.

He looked up and reached into his pocket to take his phone. He narrowed his eyes coldly when hesaw the caller's name, before letting Ashlynn go.

As soon as she was freed, she immediately hid herself underneath the blanket.

Corentin got up and stood next to the bed. “I'll have someone bring you something to eat,” he said, before answering the phone and leaving the room.

Ashlynn relaxed and leaned back against the bedhead, determined to leave. She believed that if shecould escape Salvatore once in the past, she could do so again...

Someone knocked on the door and two maids came in with a tray of food, before setting it downon the table. They cleaned the spoon and plates on the ground, and moved the table toward thebed so that Ashlynn could eat without having to get out of bed.

Amy was nowhere to be seen, but Ashlynn simply thought that perhaps Amy was otherwiseoccupied.

After the maid left, she stared at the tray filled with delicacies and despite the horror she had beenput through, she had to force herself to eat.

She had to leave and she could not do so on an empty stomach.

After finishing the food, the maids came in to take everything away and instead of staying inside theroom, Ashlynn went downstairs in search of a way out.

She went down the stairs, but did not see Amy anywhere along the way. The butler happened towalk past and she took the opportunity to ask, “Where's Amy?”

"Oh. She quit.”

"Why did she quit?”

“She did something wrong yesterday, so she can't stay here any longer.”

She thought back to how Amy tripped her and realized that Corentin must have seen it, but did notthink much of it as she preferred to have one less enemy.

"Who did something wrong?” A woman walked over.

Ashlynn turned to look and saw a beautiful woman in long dresses and high heels, she lookedsophisticated, like a model walking out of a fashion magazine.

“Good day, Ms. Hilton,” the butler greeted her.

Ashlynn instantly came to a realization of who the woman was. It was the woman whom Amyclaimed to be a perfect match for Corentin.

Meredith spotted Ashlynn right away. She had heard news that Corentin was keeping a mistress inhis mansion. Though she felt that Ashlynn seemed like an ordinary woman, she still felt defensivetoward her. Deciding to pretend that she did not know a thing, Meredith asked, “Who are you? Idon't think I've seen you around before.”

“This is Mr. Lloyd's guest,” the butler said.

"A guest?” Meredith walked toward Ashlynn and introduced herself. “Hello, I'm Meredith Hilton. I'mCorentin’s...” She paused and simply smiled mysteriously. “I didn't know Corentin had a guest this...young."

“Have you known him for many years?” Ashlynn asked.

Meredith had not expected her to ask such a question and felt as though she was being challenged“I hope you won't misunderstand. I am just curious. That's all.”

Meredith shot her a careless smile. “It's fine. I can tell you. We've known each other for years. Ourfamilies are friends and business partners, and we are engaged. So, why are you here?”
