Chapter 889

"You must be joking. We are uneducated and will only embarrass ourselves if we try working in theLloyd Group, “Paul said, “I opened this bar and these fellows helped me out with it. Corentin comesby for a drink from time to time. You know that Corentin is busy running the company. Don't worry, though. We will keep an eye on him. If he tries going to another woman, we will tell you.”

Ashlynn did not care if they did so, but was concerned when she learnt that Paul was the owner ofthe bar.

A bar was a place where all sorts of people would gather and seemed fitting for people like them.On her way in, she noticed that the bar was completely packed and realized that they had beenrather successful.

“Maybe they all changed after Corentin got out of prison?’ She thought to herself, “But is that reallypossible?’

"Sis, here's to you.” Paul raised his glass.

Ashlynn did not refuse and reached for her glass, when Owen said, “Sis, drink from this bottleinstead. This should mean nothing to you if you are Corentin’s woman!

He was holding a bottle of liquor and Corentin shot him a warning look.

“She can't drink that...” Paul said.

“I can,” she interrupted him.

Paul stilled, before turning to look at Corentin.

Owen slapped his palm on his thigh. “As expected of Corentin’s woman. Here, let me pour you aglass.” He took another glass and poured the liquor into it.

Ashlynn was horrible at drinking, so she knew that if she admitted defeat so easily, she could notstand a chance against them in any future encounters. There were many of them and one of themwas bound to let the truth escape at a certain point.

She gulped down on the liquor in her glass and suppressed the urge to choke, but theoverwhelming taste filled her mouth and brought tears to her eyes.

Corentin turned to study her face intently.

Owen poured her another glass. “Sis, here's to you. I remember that you used to stay away fromalcohol in the past. You've changed.”

“People change,” she said.

Owen raised his glass. “I'm just a brute so I'm going to be straight with you. Do you really loveCorentin? If you do, we will let the past go.”

Ashlynn froze, her fingers tightening around her glass.

Corentin observed her face and waited for her to answer with anticipation.

“True love goes both ways. If he truly loves me, of course I will reciprocate,” she said.

“I'll take your words for it.” Owen finished his glass of liquor, before turning it over to show her thathe had finished it.

She took a deep breath and finished her glass as well.

The taste was just as overwhelming as the glass before. She set her glass onto the coffee table andattempted to blink her eyes away.

The others started coming over to drink with Ashlynn as well.

“Enough,” Corentin said, “if you all have one drink with her, she won't be able to walk out of here onher own.”

“You can carry her, Corentin!”

“That's right!”

The others burst into laughter.

Corentin waved his hand and stopped them from drinking with Ashlynn. “You guys have fun. We areleaving.”

“It's still early! Why don't we play a poker game or two? Sis knows how to play as well, right? Let'splay!” Paul asked.

"It's fine.” Corentin dragged Ashlynn up with him.

Though Ashlynn did not appear to be drunk, she was already in a daze. As soon as they walked outof the room,

Corentin picked her up from the ground.

She narrowed her eyes teasingly as she stared at his face and muttered, “You...Salvatore...”

“I'm glad that you can still recognize me,” he teased.

*...1 can walk on my own.” Ashlynn did not think that she was drunk and felt embarrassed to becarried through the corridor and out of the bar hall.

“Shy?” Reminded of something, he narrowed his eyes devilishly. “Let me show you something.”

He brought her into the washroom and instantly, strange whimpers and grunts were heard. Despitethe state that Ashlynn was in, she could still comprehend where the noises were coming from, andthe couple inside did not seem to mind the audience.

She clenched her fists and blushed helplessly. “Let's go out...”

Seeing how embarrassed she was, he carried her out and Ashlynn gave up on asking him to set herdown, worried that he would take her back into the washroom.

By the time they were back into the car, the world was spinning before her eyes and she collapsedonto the seat.

“Why would you down two glasses in one go if you know that you can't drink?” He moved her headto rest on his lap.

Feeling dizzier as she stared up at his face. “Stop moving...”

He lowered his hand and devoured her, lips.

“You look like you are inviting me to toy with you when you are drunk,” he muttered hoarsely. “Iwon't disappoint you.”
