Chapter 894

Corentin dodged the attack and restrained her. “Ashlynn, did you really think you could beat mewith the moves I taught you?”

“Let me go...” She resisted and panted.

Salvatore had been a great fighter and had no fear for death since a young age, so Ashlynn washardly his match

He dragged her to the parking lot and muttered, “The car isn't here.”

The car had been driven out of the parking lot and he shoved her inside, before pinning her againstthe seat excitedly. “I knew it. You wouldn't get an abortion. There was a reason you lost the baby!”She stared at his expression and shivered. “No matter what, you shouldn't have beaten him to thatextent...”

“I shouldn't have? He dared to try and force himself on you in my absence, causing you to lose ourchild. That kind of man deserves to die a million times!"

Ashlynn was disappointed. She had thought that perhaps Salvatore could change, but that wasnever possible because he was a monster by nature.

Just then, Corentin’s phone started vibrating. He let her go and sat down, before answering the call. His expression darkened, and only managed to calm down after glancing at Ashlynn. “I can sleepwith anyone I want. Even if I take Ashlynn out of the picture, there will be others. If she doesn't likeit, she can scram!”

"At least be more secretive. Is that so hard?” Cory questioned angrily. His ultimate intention was totie the Lloyd Family with the Hilton family via marriage and if Corentin crossed Meredith, Corywould have to be the one to apologize.

Losing patience, Corentin said carelessly, “I got it.” He hung up. “That old twat is so annoying.”Ashlynn knew who called and for what reason even if Corentin did not say a word.

Meredith had been humiliated and could not possibly give up.

Ashlynn had gone to the party out of good intentions, but soon realized that even high-born ladiescould act like ordinary people. As educated as they might be, they were still human after all. However, in Ashlynn’s perspective, the problem remained with Corentin, not Meredith.

He had not changed at all and had simply gotten better at pretending to be someone else. Once helost control, he would turn back to the monster that he was like earlier.

“Don’t worry. You are my only wife. I don't care about any other woman.”

“True. You come from a slum and a high-born lady like Meredith would have been someone of adifferent dimension to you if this was in the past,” Ashlynn said sarcastically.

He pressed his body closer to hers and grabbed her by the chin. “Don’t try to provoke me. I'm in agood mood today so I will overlook this.”

She instinctively resisted his touch, her heart twisting in fear when she thought back to what he didearlier. There was no sane person in the world who would want to be with such a monster.

“Do I really have what it takes to investigate his background?’ She thought, “Should I be thinkingabout getting away instead?’

However, no matter how much thoughts she put into it,

there was only one way for her to truly be free, and that was to defeat Salvatore by revealing histrue identity.

That was the only way she could walk out of her nightmare, like she did before.

“I want to work,” she said calmly after regaining her composure.

"As what? I have enough money for you to spend for a few lifetimes. Why bother going out there towork for someone else?”

“I don't want to rely completely on someone. I graduated from college and I have all my limbs, soit's hard for me to just sit at home and do nothing.”

“That's true. I was the one who paid for your tuition.” He moved closer to her. “We can’t bury yourtalents.”
