REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON -
Chapter 116: The Search For Lyra
Lyra's
POV
Axel's sword fell again, making it the third time he's lost in a role.
"Admit it, Axel, I'm a better fighter," I sneered, bending to pick up his sword.
"You're good, I'll give you that," he replied collecting the sword from my hand and scrutinizing it in a weird way, more like the sword was the cause of his defeat. "You've not practiced, and the contest is tomorrow. Would you survive the first round?" I teased him.
"Where did you learn your art?" he asked, ignoring my remark.
"I wouldn't wish to bother you with my story," I replied, not wanting to go down memory lane.
"Let's go again, I hate to admit that I'm actually learning some steps from you," he said, moving his sword in a rotating manner and charging on me.
"Hmm, take it easy on me, Alpha Axel, I'm getting tired of defeating you," I said again, making jest of him.
He didn't take it lightly, as he charged further, making it obvious that he's in for the real one. He tried getting behind me, but I resisted, keeping him in front.
"You'll learn this time," he boasted, just as I dodged a fatal strike against my head from my left. Somehow he knew that I'll avoid the blow, as he charged on stopping not to check on me.
"This would take forever, just admit that you've got a lot to learn, and we'll....."
".... go the easy way, "I completed as I clashed my sword against his. We continued on a circular path, him making changes from left foot to right foot, and to left foot again.
"Is that all you've got?" I asked him.
At that point he made an unexpected move.
He moved forward five steps, then moved sideways two steps, still focusing his eyes on me. It was a traditional fighting step, so I followed suit, only for him to retrace his steps, giving him a chance to hit my sword sideways thrice. My sword fell.
"Hmm, Impressive," I said, still wondering how he got the inspiration to do that.
"You fight following conduct down to the core, like Royal," he commented gazing heavily on me.
"Do I?" I asked,
"You'll need to take some rest, tomorrow would be a long day," I added.
"I've got more to learn, I hate to admit, let's go one more time," he replied.
"I can't believe I heard that from you, you're willing to learn, not so?"
"Are you in or not?" he said, rotating his sword.
We charged at each other again, paying good attention on our leg movement.
"A good fighter..." I stopped to counter his attack by my left.
"must learn how to quickly learn how to move like his opponent, "I concluded.
At that point I tried to imitate his leg movement, making him confused.
"How'd you do that?" he asked.
I knew he was referring to my act of foot mimickry.
"You just need to be intentional," I said to him.
"Intentional," he repeated.
I charged fully forward, attacking him on all sides. He tried to retaliate, but my attacking force pushed him backwards, making him lose balance a little, gain it back, started moving quickly backwards and started off running. Of course I chased after him with my sword.
"Hey, come back here!!" I shouted amidst laughter, chasing him.
"You win!!!" he shouted, still running.
Zeus' POV
"Don't give me that crap! where is she?" I asked Aria.
"I can't tell what I have no knowledge about my Lord," she replied still bowing in front of me.
Obviously sensing my anger, she quickly added "Maybe you should make consultations, she might not be far away,"
"You see, Aria," I said, getting up from the throne.
" Lyra isn't the main target. I need to know where Kyle is, he's the one I need; my son," I lied.
"I want you to help me consult the free spirits, I need to see my son, and I know he went after her," I added.
She believed.
"I'll do that, but my Lord, you should know the effect the ritual would have in the natural realm. Spirits may....."
"Spirits are not to be scared of. We've encountered a lot of them in time past. They shouldn't be a reason to stop a necessary ritual, " I said, cutting her short.
"The effect of the exposure of our realm to such spirits are unimaginable, my Lord, please consider the lives of innocent werewolves and pack members," she replied. "Enough!!!" I roared.
I tried to calm down, in order to dismiss any thoughts of desperation by me.
"I understand what you mean, Aria. I do,"
I paused for a while, then I continued.
"is there another way of revealing her location asides the ritual?" I asked, trying to hidey intentions. But truly, even I was already tired of the presence of spirits in our world.
"I'm afraid not sir. She's a special werewolf. Her guardians only reveal the possibility of accessing her location, but do not tell the location. Believe me, my Lord, even I too have tried severally to get to her," she explained. I got furious. Lyra just continues to be a thorn on my flesh, why can't she just die?
"I see, what about.... Kyle? Anyway of revealing his location?" I asked, reasoning that we might use him as a starting point in getting to Lyra.
"Kyle..... Kyle......" she repeated.
She sat down on the floor below my stool, bringing out tiny diamonds and rolling them, releasing them on the floor.
"Not possible my Lord. He's obstructed by sad spirits. He can't be accessed," she commented.
"I see. I'll get back to you, you may leave," I instructed.
Moments after she left, I summoned the visible spirit.
"The Bell has been rung, the beginning of the end is already here. You must replace Lyra, or face The Legion," it said.
"I need help in replaceing her, her location is not known to anyone, not even Aria," I replied.
"Then you must do the needful," it echoed.
"I can't release bear to release spirits into my pack just to replace Lyra,"
"You must do the needful, you can't avoid your destiny, you must do the needful," It replied.
"The Legion..... can help me to replace her, can't they?" I asked.
The visible spirit laughed loud.
"You cannot summon them to help you. You would be destroyed in the process, you and all you've got," it replied.
"They've ordered me to do a lot of harm, promising me of that which I have not seen, " I said with much fear.
"The Legion would keep to their word in giving you what you asked, but you must in turn replace Lyra," the visible spirit replied, "You must replace...........ra," it repeated, replaceing it's way back to the underworld.
