Reckless Regrets
Epilogue

I always wondered if I should feel bad that my wife went to work every day and stood on her feet for hours on end, baking goodies for the world when all I had to do was an occasional training rotation.

A few months after Vanessa was born, Sugar Bear Cakery opened up right next to Fleur de Lune and instantly was a hit. Every day, Morgan sold out of every single treat, and her customers had learned to get to the bakery early; otherwise, they were sure to be disappointed.

I’d popped in a few times and would sit at a small table in the corner, watching how well she interacted with everyone who came in, and how much she loved what she was doing. She was living her dream and making great money in the process, so I was annoyingly proud. I told everyone I met about the bakery and made sure they all knew that the sexy, flour-covered owner was my wife.

And even with the long hours she spent on her business, she still had plenty of time for the kids. Most days, she’d have Vanessa with her at the bakery, tucked away in a bassinet peacefully sleeping, and someone would bring Cameron by either for a snack or to help in the kitchen. It really was a family affair, and Morgan wouldn’t have it any other way. We were still waiting on the adoption but chose to step back and let things run their course; eventually, we knew Cameron would be ours.

Tyson finished the security upgrades at both pack locations so that we could reduce patrol rotations by 50%. The goal was to reduce them even further, but we wanted to be sure there were no glitches in the system before taking such a drastic step. That gave Henry and me much more time to spend at home with our families. And it was right on time too.

One incredibly crazy night, that was, of course, a full moon, both Aires and Taylor went into labor at the same time. We only had one pack doctor, so Dr. Bennett, along with her nurses, Alaia, and Morgan, were running back and forth between the rooms helping both women through their labor. It was absolutely insane, but somehow through the organized chaos, Henry and Aires welcomed their son Isaiah into the world, while Tyson, Matt, and Taylor welcomed their daughters Autumn and Jocelyn. Autumn had the same teal colored eyes as Genesis and Julian, and Jocelyn’s eyes were hazel, just like Jaylon’s. We jokingly called the babies triplets since they were born within minutes of each other, and I had no doubt in my mind that they’d grow up with that same mentality.

Luca and Gabby were still trying to take things slow. Gabby was recovering from all of the trauma she’d suffered, and Morgan took the high road and decided that allowing her to spend time with Cameron would only help her recover faster. Gabby and Cam would have weekly play dates that were closely watched, but thankfully, Gabby had given up on the “running away” plan. She was slowly becoming the person she was when I first met her, and Luca was becoming a man doing everything in his power to help his mate. The Moon Goddess never made mistakes, and it was evident with that pair. Gabby was calm and quiet enough to bring Luca back to earth, and Luca was outgoing and boisterous enough to pull her out of her shell. With time, they were going to be great together.

Gio was doing great things with the northern pack location. The construction crew worked overtime to get his house built, and as soon as he was able to move in, he did. Every day he would wake up early to help train the warriors, then make himself available for any and everything that the pack or Xander needed. Matt was still trying to figure out what the deal with Sasha was, but Gio wasn’t worried. He’d packed up and left that drama behind, and didn’t seem like he would ever look back. Sasha had come around asking where Gio was, and although no one commanded it, none of the pack would give her any information, so she’d just leave pissed off. It was pretty fun to watch. Eventually, she would replace him, and he would have to face his demons, but I was confident that when he did, he would become better because of it.

Things fell into a regular routine for the Blue Moon pack, and we all tried to appreciate our lives, and each other, the best way we knew how. Life was a constant game of good times and bad, feast and famine, war and peace, and while we were at peace, we never made the mistake of believing that it would last forever. Someone would always be waiting around the corner, wanting to take something that we had, and we’d be prepared to defend it. Our pack stood for family, and there was nothing and no one who would ever change that. So rather it be against crooked rare antiquities dealers or crazed manipulative ex’s, our family would always come out on top. But if they wanted to test us, we’d be ready and waiting.
