Rejected, Broken And Forgotten -
Chapter 13
Paris’ POV
I can only stare at Walker, my mate. I can not believe I dreamed about him and that everything happened as in my dream. So he wants me as his mate but does not respect me for what I try to do? He is judging me without knowing my story. I do not understand why it upsets me so much. I have to be used to being rejected, but this hurts. My heart is heavy as we sit around the campfire talking. Jeffrey is telling him about our plan to stall the wedding. I do not say anything. I am crying silently inside. My heart feels like it is ripped into pieces. Why does he hate me so much that he is willing to make me his mate only to make me suffer? Well, f**k him! I do not need a mate! I can live my life by myself. I will not accept him as my mate! His words have hurt me, but like always, I will survive.
“Paris agreed to come with us to stall the wedding until you defeat Oliver and become King of Mercia. She is only helping her sister,” Jeffrey says.
“Hahaha. Yeah right! I am sure it has nothing to do with her wanting to become Queen and rule Mercia and Essex. The Kingdom will be powerful,” Walker says. He glares at me, and I look back at him. I have nothing to feel ashamed of. What he thinks of me is his problem, not mine.
“Listen, I do not care what you think my motives are. I am here solely to help my sister. I am going to the car. You can talk to this rebel prince if you want to, Jeffrey. I have things to do,” I say as I get up and walk back to the limo. I have not eaten, and I do not want his stupid food.
“Sit!” Walker demands me.
“f**k you! You can not tell me what to do,” I say and start walking.
“Moon Goddess, give me patience, because if you give me strength, I will kill her,” I hear Walker says. I turn around and walk back to him. I press my finger against his chest and look him in the eyes.
“Who in hell’s name do you think you are? You judge me without even knowing me. You expect me to listen to your commands, and now you want to kill me!” I shout. Walker looks amused, and that pisses me off even more.
“I did not say I wanted to kill you! I was praying for patience not to kill you. Open your bloody ears,” Walker says. He takes my hand and brings it to his lips. To my surprise, he k****s my hand. I pull back my hand as I burn it. I will not give him the satisfaction of knowing what he is doing to me.
“Don’t touch me! You want to make my life a living hell. You judge me without knowing me, and I am not your plaything, Walker Brooks,” I say. I turn around and start walking in the direction I think the car is.
“You are going in the wrong direction,” Walker says. It is dark, and I am not thinking straight as I am hurting inside. Why can’t I be happy for once? What have I sinned to be so cursed? Will I never know how it feels to be loved? I want to be alone, and I feel like crying my heart out.
“Then show me what direction I need to go in,” I say. I will not show him how much I am hurting.
“Nope, you will stay here until I say you can leave,” Walker says. I start walking in another direction, and at the moment, I do not care where I am going. Who does he think he is to order me around? I know I need to get away from him as soon as possible.
“Is she always this stubborn?” Walker asks Jeffrey.
“Yeah, she is. Don’t try and command her. Believe me. She will do the opposite,” Jeff sighs. I walk faster.
“I warn you, Paris. You better stop, or I will …” Walker starts saying.
“Will what? Kill me? Go ahead. I do not care! I am tired, and I want to start my mission. I do not care what you think of me. I do not want to be a bloody Queen. I am here to help my sister, so she does not have to marry into your crazy family. Oliver is your half-brother if I remember right,” I say and keep walking.
“So you are telling me you are doing this for your sister. There are no selfish reasons behind you being here,” Walker says.
“She is paying me. There you have my selfish motive,” I say.
“She wants to study and doesn’t have enough money. That is the only reason she is taking the money,” Jeff says. I turn around as I am about to kick Jeff’s a*s.
“Jeffrey! My business has nothing to do with him. Stop telling him my business! As for you, all mighty Alpha, what my motives are had nothing to do with you. Piss off and stop intervening in my life. Reject me and get it over with! I have things to do and places to go,” I say.
“I am not going to reject you, Paris, but I can also not accept you as my mate right now. If you want my help, stop acting like a bloody child and sit on your a*s so we can talk,” Walker says, and I can hear he is pissed off.
“Fine, but I will only listen because I need to stop the wedding if I can and give London her freedom to be with her true mate. Yeah, in the beginning, I did it for the money, and I am not going to turn down the money because when I go home, I need to look after my little brother, well, half-brother,” I say. Wow, word vomit! I need to keep my mouth shut.
“You do not have to explain yourself to me, little one,” Walker says.
“I am not little, and don’t call me pet names! We are not going to be mates. We both know it, and you do not have to pretend that you like me,” I say.
“Hmm, you don’t listen to what I say at all, do you? You will become my mate, but not yet. We need you to stay part of the Royal pack, and as soon as I accept you as my Luna and make you my Luna, you will automatically change packs. You are the Luna of the Cloverfield pack, and you will have to accept that,” Walker says. Did he say Cloverfield pack? Damn, with all the drama, I totally forgot he mentioned that name before. I look at Walker and frown. I will not tell him I once was part of the Ravenstone pack, as it will piss him off even more.
“Okay, fine. I will do as you say. So what is your plan?” I ask.
“You will spy for me on Oliver and his father, King John. After I kill them, your sister will be free, and I will have my revenge. We can then do the Luna ceremony and return to America,” Walker says.
“So you want me to spy on Oliver and King John? How? They are the enemies of Essex,” I say.
“They will come to talk to your grandfather about the wedding, and you will have to make friends with Oliver. There should be a temporary peace treaty as they plan the wedding. You are not allowed to let Oliver touch you, though,” Walker says.
“So what was your plan before I came into the picture, and why did you stop the limo when you thought I was London?” I ask.
“I respect your grandfather, and I was going to warn London that I am going to attack on her wedding day and kill John and Oliver,” Walker says.
“Well, why don’t we just stick to that plan?” I ask.
“I am not going to put your life in danger,” Walker says.
“I have lived eighteen years in a pack I hate. Fifteen of those years, they would have killed me if they could. I can look after myself and fight,” I say.
“You do not have to look after yourself anymore. That is why I am here to help you look after yourself. Do you have to be so damn independent all the time? Relax a little and let others take care of you for a change,” Walker says, and I can hear he is irritated.
“Bravo! I have told her this before. Wallis and I are looking out for her, and she has her sister and father who are willing to help her, but she is very independent and a bloody good fighter. She took out the best fighters for the Ravenstone Pack all by herself,” Jeffrey says.
“Ravenstone? They were your pack?” Walter asks.
“Yeah, but as I said, I am not part of them anymore. I left the pack the day I met Jeff and Wally,” I say.
“Good, so you can help me take them down after I am done here. You will be very helpful as my mate,” Walker says, and I glare at him. So, my second chance mate is like my first mate. He only wants to use me when it fits him, and afterwards, he will throw me to the wolves, literally, as I will become a rogue when he denounces me as his mate. He does not want me as his mate and wants to use me. I can not help but feel hurt again. I keep quiet.
“Anyway, as I was saying, I am not willing to put Paris’ life in danger at the wedding and do not want her in the middle of a war,” Walker continues, and he talks about me like I am not even there or have a say.
“Listen, I can take care of myself. I will not hide behind your back so you can do all the fighting while I am in a bloody bubble and not allowed to fight anymore. I can take care of myself, and you do not have to make me your Luna. I will help you take down the Ravenstone pack regardless, as I also have a vendetta against them,” I say. I am giving Walker a chance to get out of this mate thing so he does not feel obligated to make me his Luna.
“Paris, I am warning you. You are my mate, and you will become my Luna. I don’t know why you are trying to escape being my Luna. Am I that bad, or am I not good enough because I am only an Alpha and not a future king?” Walker asks.
“I am trying to give you a chance to get out of this mate thing. I know you don’t want me as your mate. You want to use me to get John and Oliver and, later on, the Ravenstone pack,” I answered his question.
“I am glad you think you can read my mind, but I hate to disappoint you. I do not need you to do any of those things. I can take out John and Oliver by myself. It may take a little longer, but I do not need you for that, and the Ravenstone pack is not a problem. They are not very strong, and I wanted you to get revenge on them for mistreating you,” Walker says.
“Then why do you want me as your mate? It is not like I am the best candidate for a mate,” I say. Walker looks at me as if I am crazy.
“You know you are breathtakingly beautiful and that the Moon Goddess put us together because she knows we belong. Paris. You have a bloody lot of issues,” Walker says.
” England must not have many beautiful women if you think I am breathtaking,” I laugh.
“Stop it! Stop belittling yourself. I think you are perfect,” Walker says. I look at him and laugh. He must be blind. Not even stupid Mark wanted me.
“You are her second chance mate. Her first mate rejected her, and he was the son of the Alpha of Ravenstone. Then he tried to get her back to help him fight your pack,” Jeff talks out of turn again. I glare at Jeff.
“I also had a mate once, and she left me for fame and money, and I was not good enough for her, but I am glad she rejected me as I have a much better mate now,” Walker says, and I stare at him in disbelief. Who will leave someone like him? He is handsome and perfect in every way.
“So that is why you accused me of wanting to become Queen and that I am using people? I am not your first mate. I am not someone that will pick fame and fortune over my mate,” I say. Walker looks at me and smiles.
“I know that now,” He says. His eyes are still guarded, so I am not sure he trusts me completely. I can not blame him as I do not trust him and his motives.
