Rejected, Broken And Forgotten -
Chapter 31
Third person’s POV
The new Kingdom of Wessex’s wolves are ready to fight for their King and Queen. They are glad to be united at last and that they can fight together against John and Oliver, as everyone is tired of the endless war. They want all the wolves in England under one crown with one King and Queen. It will mean they are all united and stronger than ever before. Everyone has been waiting for the legacy to come true, and now the time has come for the Kingdoms to all be united. King John and his useless son Oliver are the only ones standing in their way. Everyone knows Oliver is an embarrassment to all werewolves, as he is too afraid to fight. Some of the wolves of Mercia have already joined Wessex with their princess Elena. Some think she is crazy, but others say she is clever and is playing her father and brother for the idiots they are. Jeffrey walks over to Paris and Walker. He needs to talk to them.
“May I address the King and Queen in private?” Jeffrey asks. Paris looks at him as if he is talking to someone else.
“Oh, you mean us. I forget we are supposed to be the King and Queen,” Paris says.
“Let’s go to my house,” Walker says, smiling at Paris. He knows how she feels, and he feels the same way. He does not like these titles and is set on giving the wolves their freedom when the time comes. For now, they need to stay linked and fight this war together. There is strength in numbers.
“Well, first things first. I think you should change your names. When you become King or Queen, you can choose a different name if you like,” Jeffrey says. Paris and Walker start at him as if he is crazy.
“Listen here, Jeff, I have been known for eighteen years as Paris, and I ain’t going to get used to another name now, but humor me and tell me what you think I should be called,” Paris says.
“Yeah, I agree with Paris, but go ahead and tell us what you want to call us,” Walker says.
“I was thinking, Katherine and Frederick,” Jeffrey says. He glares at the two as they start laughing.
“Kate and Fred. No f*****g way!” Paris laughs.
“Sounds like names for the history books,” Walker says.
“That is the point! You will be named in our history books, and Queen Paris and King Walker do not sound right. Besides, you should be honored as the first Queen of Essex was called Katherine, and the first King of Sussex was called Frederick!” Jeffrey says.
“I am not changing my name. No, thank you, sir. I will be staying Queen Paris, and if the history writers do not like it, they can change it in their books, but there is no f*****g way I will become Katherine,” Paris says.
“Yeah, sorry, Jeff, but I am with Paris on this one. I will remain, Walker. No one is going to call me Fred!” Walker says, and Jeffrey feels a little disappointed that they do not want to consider changing their names, but that is what it is, and Jeffrey knows he can do nothing about it. It is the King and Queen’s choice.
“Fred! Hahaha! Sorry, Jeff, but you are hilarious,” Paris laughs.
“Okay, fine, but one day your great-grandchildren will wonder where the hell you got those names from,” Jeffrey says, disappointed.
“I don’t care as long as no one calls me Kate,” Paris says.
“Fine, let’s forget about that topic and move on to the next. We are busy getting the summer palace of Susses ready for the two of you. Since you will be ruling over Wessex, you will need a Palace. The summer palace in Sussex has not been used in years, and we are fixing it,” Jeffrey says. He is keeping the last topic for last because he does not want to talk about it but will have to. He needs to tell them why the Moon Goddess cursed him to walk the earth for as long as he did.
“Okay, but a palace is way too big for two people. We will get lost looking for each other,” Paris complains.
“I do not care what you say, Queen Paris, but this time I put my foot down, and I will not let you get away with this request,” Jeffrey says. Paris and Walker have never seen him so stern, and they decide to let it go. They will only use a few rooms in the Palace, and Jeff will be happy. They prefer to stay among the wolves, but they know that Jeff will not allow it. This time they need to give in.
“Okay, fine, we will give you that one, and we will stay in the bloody castle,” Walker says. Paris nods, as she is not too happy about it.
“What is the third thing you want to talk to us about?” Paris asks.
“Well, it is about the curse of the Moon Goddess, and it is also a history lesson,” Jeffrey says.
Jeffrey’s story:
I was twenty-five when I first came to the island from the mainland. I was a wild one. I drank, partied too much, and did not believe in the Moon Goddess. I did not believe in the mating bond. At eighteen, I met my first mate, and she was nothing like I thought she would be, so I rejected her. She was heartbroken, but I did not care as I was set on being single for the rest of my life. She got her second-change mate and moved on from m,e, and I believed I was right. There was no such thing as a mate bond, and I could reject whoever I wanted as there was no Moon Goddess. I believe the attraction we felt for a mate was our wolf, who wanted the wolf of the one that is our so-called mate. That was my theory. Well, I was wrong.
At twenty-five, I moved to the island as the hunters were hot on my tail. When I met my second chance mate, I did the same and rejected her. I was set on proving to everyone that I could live without a mate and did not need one, as the Moon Goddess is a myth, and there is no such thing as the Moon Goddess. I met my second-change mate at a bar, and she was the tavern owner’s daughter, where we, as young wolves, went drinking. I rejected her, and it pissed off the tavern owner. He went to the High Priestess of the Moon Goddess and told her what I was saying and that I broke his daughter’s heart because I did not believe in the mate bond. You must remember at that time, the kingdoms of Essex and Sussex were just formed, and Katherine and Frederick became King and Queen, found their mates, and Katherine was pregnant. Everything was still new, and many wild and free-spirited wolves came to the island. I was a bad influence on the young wolves with my wild theories.
“Hahaha, I can not think of you as a rebel, Jeff,” Paris interrupts my story.
“Well, I was,” I say and continue my story.
I was sitting at another tavern, as the owner of the pub threw me out because of his daughter, when the High Priestess of the Moon Goddess walked in. She looked around. I knew she was looking for me, so I hid behind a lady, my head in her bosom. We usually called pubs and bars, taverns at that time.
“In her what? Hahaha, Jeff, you were a wild one,” Paris interrupts me again and laughs. I ignore her and continue with my story.
“Who is Jeffrey Watson?” The High Priests asked, and I pretended not to hear her. The other wolves feared her, and they all pointed at me, and I got up as I knew they had me.
“It depends on who wants to know,” I said.
“Come with me,” The High Priestess said, and I ignored her and sat down again to drink my beer. I did not expect what would happen next. The High Priestess spoke a few words, and I went flying with my chair and all out the tavern door. I screamed and held on to the chair like crazy. I ended up in a valley near the river, and the bloody High Priestess was with me. I was a little tipsy, but you know we do not get drunk as our wolves heal us. Anyway, she looked at me and asked why I spread lies about the Moon Goddess and the mate bond.
“f**k your Moon Goddess and f**k your mate bond. I will not let something or someone that does not exist ruin my life!” I shouted at her. I thought she was a witch as she had magical powers. She walked over to me and dropped her High Priestess’ robe on the ground. She was the most beautiful she-wolf I have ever seen. She seduced me although I had a mate and rejected her, I could not say no to the High Priestess, and we made love. I thought I was in love. It was the best s*x I ever had, and it felt like I had s*x with a Goddess. It was magical in every sense of the way. The Moon Goddess did it because she spoiled s*x for me forever, as no one I slept with after that was the same unless she was my mate. So no more casual s*x for me, but I did not know that then. Then she changed before me into an old lady, and I felt disgusted. I cussed at her, and she changed again into a more beautiful woman than the first one.
“What witchery is this?” I asked her, and she laughed.
“You do not believe in the Moon Goddess, do you?” She asked.
“No, I do not believe in myths. You will pay for your ignorance, Jeffrey Watson! I am Selene! I am the Moon Goddess, and you let me seduce you while you reject the mate I sent you. How dare you!” She said, and I started laughing.
“Nice try, witch. I do not believe you! You are nothing but a bloody witch that knows how to shapeshift beyond the form of your wolf,” I said. She turned to me, and I could see she was pissed off. I thought it was because I caught her in her lie and was not afraid of her.
“You dare to disrespect me still? You have broken two she-wolves, and I heard their cries for help and saw their tears! Now you disrespect me as the Moon Goddess! I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you proved to me that you are as bad as I thought. You will walk this earth until I decide you are worthy of death and that you have paid for your sins. You are a disgrace in my face,” Selene said. I was still laughing when she walked over to me and touched me. I could feel her power and was afraid for the first time.
“You are the Moon Goddess?” I asked, and my voice trembled.
“Yes, I am, and you had s*x with me! You will never be able to have s*x with a she-wolf and enjoy it unless she is your mate,” The Moon Goddess said. She was furious at me for not believing in her or the mate bond, but she was even more upset with me because of the two she-wolves I hurt.
“Yeah, we will see,” I said, and I still could not believe she was the Moon Goddess.
“You will serve the Kings and Queens of this kingdom until I decide it is time for you to die,” She said. I was clever, and many used me for advice as I studied hard with humans, which is why I lost my faith in the Moon Goddess. I mingled with humans too much until the hunters got hold of me, and I had to flee to the island.
“You will do as I said if you want to die one day and be with me forever,” Selene said, and she disappeared in front of my eyes. I was afraid but still skeptical. I went back to town, and I had to walk for days. When I finally reached the city, I went to the first tavern and started drinking. That night, I took a she-wolf to my bed, but I could not have s*x with her as I did not enjoy it. I kicked her out and went to my mate as if something had pulled me to her. I accepted her, and we had s*x without any problems. I knew I had encountered the Moon Goddess and pissed her off. I took my mate and ended up at the Castle of Essex, where I started serving Katherine, the first Queen of Essex.
“So that is my story, and I messed with the Moon Goddess and paid a dear price,” I say.
“I am still trying to get over the part where you slept with her,” Paris says.
“Well, I am ashamed of myself and my sin. I should have resisted her and not given in to my s****l urges. I am an embarrassment to all werewolves,” I say. I feel ashamed of my s****l escapades with the Moon Goddess, although I still remember every moment of our encounter.
“You are a bloody legend! You slept with the Moon Goddess,” Paris says. I know Paris is too young to understand that to me, it is a failure and that I, the High Priest of the Moon Goddess, see it as my biggest sin.
