Paris’ POV

We are looking at the castle as we prepare for our plan to come into action. I am ready to give John and Oliver the whooping they need. I want them in jail as they have locked up some of our men. We see the she-wolves moving in and dressed in really revealing clothing. I like how they walk and think I may try it on, Walker. I almost laugh out loud as I think of myself walking like a hooker in practically no clothing. I think Walker would not appreciate my efforts. I smile as I look at him.

“Don’t even think about dressing like that,” Walker whispers, as if he can read my mind.

“Damn, and here I am, thinking it will be fun seducing you,” I whisper back.

“A queen will never dress like that,” Jeff says, and I want to laugh.

“Well, if it is only for the King’s eyes, I can not see any fault with that,” Walker says. I know he is teasing Jeff, and I want to laugh as Jeff looks like he is going to get a heart attack or stroke or something.

“Over my dead body will I allow clothing like that in the palace,” Jeff says.

“I thought you were wild when you were young,” I say.

“I was, but I am not anymore. I am respectable,” Jeff says, and I laugh softly. We are all whispering as we do not want the guards and scouts to hear us. We can mind-link, but we can not let the other wolves of the Kingdom hear our conversation. Elena smiles as she replaces our conversation funny and looks at Jeff.

“You better get used to being a little wild again, mate,” She says and winks at Jeff, who blushes and looks away. I laugh softly again. It is funny to me that Elena can make Jeff blush. I have never seen anyone being able to make him feel embarrassed. Maybe it is because she is his mate. I want Elena and Jeff to become mates and be happy. Jeff deserves another mate and does not know how much he means to us. I know we will get a few more history lessons from Jeff, but I love how he tells stories and makes them interesting. I know that without Jeff, our Kingdom will be lost. I love Jeff as the father I never had. He is more of a father to me than Carl ever was. We wait for Mariam to let us know she has the shamans so that we can start our part of the plan. We know the shamans must first be captured before continuing our plan. We do not want their magic to intervene with our plans. We are ready to start with our part, as the she-wolves do their part by distracting the wolves around the castle. The wolves in John and Oliver’s army are primarily male, as they do not believe in equality. That pisses me off, as I do not want she-wolves to be discriminated against.

As we wait, Jeff sits down and looks over the Kingdom. I know he loves this land as he has spent so much time here. I know he is old and wise, and I can see the love in his eyes for the creatures around him. I know he thinks the Moon Goddess is still pissed off at him, but I am sure she has seen what a good wolf Jeff is. Jeff starts mind-linking, and we listen as it may take a while before we can attack.

Jeffrey’s story:

“After I came to the Kingdom and met the Moon Goddess, I came here. This palace was not built yet, as Katherine and Frederick and their mates lived among the wolves and did not want to have a palace. When I arrived here, Katherine stole my heart as she was a brave Queen, and I could not leave her and her mate to look after themselves. I knew I had to teach them the way of the royals as I served in many courts on the mainland. She was also very beautiful, but I had no romantic feelings toward her. The hunters were everywhere, trying to attack us when they could. They were a bunch of cowards and only attacked wolves who were alone, not in packs. It made me mad, and Katherine shared my feelings. I hated the hunters as they were once our allies fighting vampires with us. They turned against us and started to work for money. Humans always wanted the head of a werewolf or vampire, not that a hunter could bring them the head of a vampire, because if one decapitated them, they turned into ash.

Humans still believed in the mystical creatures and feared us, although we were supposed to protect them and not kill them. Rogues were always a problem and would sometimes kill the humans in their villages, which is why the hunters turned on us. But in my eyes, the hunters should have known better and left the wolf alone, which was part of packs or kingdoms. Anyway, one hunter stood out above all. Valentino D’Angelo. He is a legendary hunter.

As you know, hunters can live for a very long time. I say is because he is still alive, and he became our friend after he initially attacked our Kingdom. He is one of the best hunters that walks the earth. He and his army of hunters came to the island as he thought the werewolves here on the island were all rogues that came here to hide from the hunters in Europe. Valentino attacked us at night but soon realized that we could mind-link and, therefore, were not rogues. He raised the white flag and asked us for peace as he told us about his hunters and how they were trained not to kill werewolves in packs, as he believed that hunters and werewolves were still allies. Valentino became a friend of the Kingdoms of Essex and Wessex that day. Until this day, he is still a friend of werewolves as long as they are not rogues. But like rogues, the trophy hunters will always be our enemies. Today they are called bounty hunters and usually hunt us because other creatures pay them to hunt us.”

Jeffrey stays quiet, and I know it is today’s history lesson’s ending. Jeff wants us to know about Valentino, and I think it is because he thinks we will need him in the future. Well, we can not have too many friends. I look at Jeffrey, and he smiles sadly as he stares over the castle beneath us. I know he is thinking of his old friends and the Kings and Queens he served. I wonder if he sometimes longs for them. He seemed to have been close to Katherine. I wonder about the other Kings and Queens and how many he served. Elena is not mind-linked to us as she is not part of our Kingdom yet. She is watching over the castle while the rest of us are distracted. I feel guilty for letting her stand on guard alone.

“Elena, sorry about that. We were all distracted,” I say.

“It is fine. I know you were mind-linking,” Elena says.

“Well, Jeff gave us a history lesson while we were waiting. You would be best if you let him tell you all about the Kingdoms,” I say. Elena smiles.

“Well, he lived most of history,” She laughs softly. I feel bad as we left Elena out of our conversation.

“That is true,” I say. I can see the admiration for Jeff in Elena’s eyes as she looks at him.

“I have a great mate, don’t I?” Elena asks.

“You do, and you do not know how much you and Jeff mean to us. I can not wait until all this is over, and you can become part of our Kingdom,” I say.

“I can not wait to serve you. Queen. In my eyes, you are already my Queen,” Elena says.

“You will become my advisor once this is all over,” I say. I am proud to have a friend like Elena, and I know we will still have many adventures together.

“I can not wait, Queen Paris. You are a true warrior, and I feel you are one powerful she-wolf. I feel sorry for your enemies,” Elena says.

“I am as powerful as the wolves around me. You are a warrior, and I know I will be able to always count on you. I am ready to fight this battle by your side,” I say.

“I can not wait for this battle to start. I can not wait to see my father and brother get what they deserve. For years I had to fight their battles, and not once did they fight by my side,” Elena says, and I can see her hatred for her brother and father in her eyes.

“I bet you do not love them,” I say.

“Love! I hate them,” Elena says.

“Well, tell me more about Mariam,” I ask, as I can see that the topic of her brother and father upset Elena.

“Well, her story is sad. Her parents were not mates as her mother was a witch and her father was a werewolf. Her mother was in love with her father, and when he found his mate, he left her mother to be with his mate. Her mother was pregnant at that time with Mariam. When she went to Mariam’s father and told him about her pregnancy, he was furious and wanted to kill Mariam’s mother, but she was too powerful of a witch, and she protected herself and her unborn child. She fled and went to live with witches, but they did not want to accept Mariam when she was born, and she and her mother became homeless. They had no one. They lived in a cabin in the middle of the woods until I found them years later. Mariam’s mate rejected her as he did not want a half-witch, half-werewolf as a mate. He regrets his decision and is chasing after her until this day, but now she has Jonathan, and I think it will be fascinating when the two mates meet each other,” Elena gives me a quick update on Mariam’s life.

“Wow, I am glad she will join us. I want to ask her to run our council of magical wolves. I know there are not many magical wolves in this world, but I want her to replace them and bring them to our Kingdom. After this battle, Walker and I need to return to America as we both have things to sort out on that side, but we will return with more wolves. Jeff believes this Kingdom will need to protect werewolves worldwide one day, and we want to protect our kind. I believe we have a destiny to fulfill, and we will all know our fate one day. There is a reason why all of us are brought together by the Moon Goddess,” I say.

“I know the legend, as well as Jeff, knows it, and I know we, this Kingdom is the future of werewolves and will protect our kind. I am sure the legends the history books talk about are written to forewarn us about the future and how it will affect the Kingdom and us. I hate my father and brother for trying to stop it from happening. Once the Kingdom is one, we will all be united for when the day comes when we will need the Kingdom, our King, Queen, and army to protect us,” Elena says, and I can feel her passion for what she believes.

“Well, Elena, I hope you and I see the day that happens because we will be fighting hand in hand, side by side, to protect our kind from being distinct,” I say. We look at each other, and I know a friendship that will never end has been born. I look at Walker, who is talking to Jeff. We are all waiting for Jonathan to give us word from Mariam. We want to start this battle and get it over with, so we can focus on our future as werewolves. Walker and I have unfinished business in the states, but I know we will return to this Kingdom we have both learned to love.
