Rejected, Broken And Forgotten -
Chapter 57
Paris’s POV
All we can do now is wait for the grumpy old human to help us with the chip and get a way to deactivate the chips. I love riding on Daylight, and I have realized that my hair has become whiter and that Walker’s has become darker. She wonders what that is all about, but she does not care as Walker looks even more handsome with his darker hair. Walker wants to show me the pack lands, and I am excited as I have never been here and would love to see them. We decide to take the horses and ride through the pack lands. We also take a tent with us as the ground is big and we want to camp under the stars and be alone for a while. I have not gone into heat yet, and I think it is because the Moon Goddess knows we can not have a pup right now as the world needs us, and we can not protect the world and our pup. We may lose interest in saving the world and keeping our packs and pups safe. We are about to leave, and I am sitting outside staring over the land and mountains. I wonder if Walker will show me the mountains. I have packed a few pieces of clothing as we can wash out clothes in the rivers and streams, so there is no need for us to carry too many things. Walker is busy packing some food for us to take with us. We also want to go and see where the humans watching Herman are staying and if we can get them to leave, but we have not thought of how we will do that.
“Are you ready, honey?” Walker asks as he walks out with a few things he has packed for us.
“I am ready. I can not wait to spend some alone time with you,” I say. Walker smiles and winks at me. The pack can mind-link us if anything happens, and we can come back if they need us. We get on our horses and start heading east to where Herman is staying. We want to ensure that those humans will not give Herman trouble as we can not trust them and need Herman’s help. As we get near his cabin, we ride with the horses to where we know the humans are standing, looking at Herman’s cabin.
“What are you children doing here in these parts of the woods?” A voice asks from behind us.
“Hi, sir. We are going camping. What are military guys doing here?” I ask as I see his uniform.
“Oh, we are out here training,” He answers.
“But this is our land. We are both Native Americans, and we know these woods. Why are you on our land?” Walker asks. We do look like we have Native American b***d in us, as we both got some native American tattoos and our skins are darker from being in the sun so much. I may be blond, but many girls dye their hair these days. The soldier looks at us, and I can feel he is uncomfortable.
“We have the right to be here and are just training. We will move along soon,” He says. I know he is lying, and I can tell by the way he is acting.
“Well, you better move along soon as this is sacred land to us, and we do not take kindly to strangers here,” Walker says. I see the general come walking toward us, and I am afraid he will recognize us as the ones that visited Herman. Then again, I do not care. According to them, we were here to get a donation for our reservation.
“Hello, I can see you two are of high rank in the tribe that stays here. I know the tattoos that you have,” The general says.
“Hi, general. You are of high rank in the army. I know by the things you wear on your shoulder,” I say sarcastically.
“Well, we are moving on today as we have to go to another part of the country to train,” The general says. I know they are having big problems with their dogmen in the parks as reports come through from other packs that the dogmen have now been spotted in cities, and the army can no longer control them as they have activated the chips. We greet them and ride away, but our wolf’s hearing is good, and we stop to listen to what they have to say to each other.
“Good thing we are moving out here today as they are the big leaders of the native Americans. We do not want the native Americans mad at us,” The general says to his soldier.
“Yes, sir, but what about the dogmen in this area?” The soldier asks.
“It is their problem. We have better and bigger things to worry about. We can not let the citizens replace out about our dogmen yet. The big head has arrived, and he is here in the states to come and take control of the situation. He does not want the citizens to know what our plans are yet. He wants them to relax, and when it is too late, they will realize they are in danger and the only ones that can help them are us. They will have to accept the safe cities where they will be protected, and the big man can start his plan to rule the world. We will live forever and be like him,” The general says. The soldier does not answer, and we ride away.
“So that is why they were here, not only to watch Herman, but here are dogmen on our grounds. We better watch out for them and help those we can,” I say.
“Yes, we should not go on our camping trip as we do not know how many dogmen there are here. We can handle them, but we do not want to kill them and rather help them,” Walker says. I feel a little sad as I was looking forward to spending time with Walker alone, but he is right. We need to help the dogmen first and replace a way to help them faster than catching them one by one and letting the pack doctors remove the chips.
“Yes, let us go home and see what we can do,” I say. We will need the help of all the wolves in the pack and get the dogmen before they can harm anyone in the pack.
We must wait for Herman, but we cannot let the dogmen around our towns or cities in our area. As we ride home, we hear humans shouting and screaming. We listen to them fire shots, and we go to see if we can help, but it is the general and his men being attacked by five or six dogmen, and we can not go and help them because then they will know we are wolves. We ride to Herman’s cabin and send our horse running home. We do not want them to get hurt by the dogmen. We mind link our pack to tell them what is happening and that we will help Herman if the dogmen come after him. We do not want them to help as the army is still there and is fighting the dogmen attacking them. Karma is a b***h, and it comes to bite the soldiers on their asses. It will teach them to mess with mother nature and to interfere with creatures they know nothing about. We run into Herman’s cabin and call for him.
“I am down here, and I am working. What do you want now?” He asks rudely.
“The dogmen are just outside your bloody cabin, so stop being so grumpy. We are here to protect you,” I say.
“Wow, they are here? So they received my call and attacked the bloody uniforms outside my cabin?” He says, and he sounds excited.
“You called them? How?” I ask.
“I used the chip, and I have figured out how to control them, but not how to deactivate the chip yet,” Herman says.
“So you are using them to attack the soldiers?” Walker asks, and he looks angry.
“No, I wanted them to come to my cabin so I could help them, but then the bloody uniforms were outside, so I had to get rid of them so that I could help these poor creatures,” Herman says.
“What if the soldiers kill them?” I ask.
“They are only a few, and the dogmen are too strong,” Herman says.
“What if they have silver bullets?” Walker asks.
“s**t, I forgot about the silver bullets. I will send them into hiding again,” Herman says. Heerman types something on the laptop he has on his desk, and we can hear the screaming and shooting stop. We run outside to see what is happening and straight to the soldier’s camp. As we get there, we can see the human soldiers got off worse. Most of them are dead and have big scratch marks all over their bodies. The general sits next to his truck and has a big scratch mark on his shoulder. He is looking at us, but I know he will not die, and with the next full moon, he will turn into a wolf.
“Don’t let me become one of them?” He says.
“One of whom?” I ask, keeping myself stupid. Some of the soldiers have hidden in the back of the truck, and when they hear us talking, they get out of the truck.
“Nothing, this does not concern you,” A soldier says.
“What the hell happened here? Look at your soldiers. It looks like you have been attacked by something big,” Walker says. We bend down and pretend to look at the tracks.
“It looks like wolf tracks, but it is way too big for wolves, and why does it look like it walked on its hind legs? There are not four sets of prints, only two,” I say.
“It does not concern you. Get out of here now!” Another soldier shouts. There is a howl in the bushes, and something growls. The soldiers scramble back to the truck holding their guns out. We look around, and I see one of the dogmen watching us but not doing anything, and it does not look like it wants to attack us.
“We can not help you if you do not tell us what the hell is going on here,” Walker says.
“It is werewolves,” The general says softly.
“Werewolves? Don’t be ridiculous. They are creatures of myth,” Walker says.
“I thought you native Americans believed in them? Why do you not believe me? One scratched me, and I will turn into one with the next full moon. So kill me before that happens to me,” He says.
“Because this is modern times, and we no longer believe in those creatures. We will take you to our town and let our healers help you,” I say.
“We messed with nature, and we got what we deserved. We were greedy and selfish, and now we are paying the price,” Another soldier says. We look at them as if they are crazy. We can not trust these humans with our secrets, as we know those who get away will betray us. They will go straight to their officials and tell them we are werewolves, and they will also come for us. We can not betray our pack or any werewolves, for that matter. All we can do is try and help the humans that are in this situation because of their stupidity. We know we can not support the general as he will become a wolf, but we can help him from becoming a dogman. The others will not worry about using him. They will take him to the base, and he will become another dogman with a chip in his brain. The soldiers, still alive, get in the truck and want to take their general with them and the bodies of their men with them. They hear the howling again, as if they have forgotten everything except their survival. They drive off and leave everyone else like this. We know a team of their experts will come in and see what we know. They will want to clean up this mess and have no problem killing us, as we know too much. We nod at the dogmen in the bushes. It would be best if the soldiers died. Some humans can not be safe, and we need to let them go for the safety of our people. The dogmen chase after them and soon catch up with them. They beg us for help as they are torn apart. We can not help them. This is their own mistake, and they will need to die in order for us to live and protect the humans that deserve our protection.
