Kristina’s POV

So I like Wayne, and I like him a lot. I do not know how he feels about me, but it is evident that he does not like vampires so much. Maybe I can become the first vampire he wants. We bonded the night they locked us together in the room, but only as friends. I am thinking of ways to get closer to him as I watch them train. I have not made many friends since I joined the wolfpack, and I miss Roman, my brother. I will have to go and save him from my father, but I have no idea how to. I know they are here in the states, and it is easy for me to replace them, but I will need help to save him. I can not put the King and Queen or their pack and kingdom at risk, so I know I will have to do it myself.

“Bloodsucker!” One of the she-wolves says as she walks past me. It hurts because I have tried to win their trust, but many see me for what I am not, not who I am.

“Hello to you, too,” I say. I try to be nice, but sometimes it is difficult as their remarks hurt. It feels bad now that I have feelings again, and my heart beats warm in my body. Sometimes I want to turn my feelings off again and stop being nice, but I love the King and Queen and know they will need my help. They can not fight the vampires without my help. My father is strong as he is an original like me, but I know I can beat him in a fight as he is greedy and selfish. I walk over to where Wayne and the rest are training and ask if I can help.

“Hahaha, how can a bloodsucker like you help us?” The same she-wolf says.

“Shut up! We will have to fight vampires, and Kristina can help us to train to fight them,” Wayne stands up for me, and I am pleasantly surprised.

“That is true. We can need the help of Kristina,” Another wolf says, and the she-wolf glares at me with hate in her eyes.

“Thank you. So I will pretend to attack you, and you need to see if you can catch me. I am fast, and so are all the vampires I know,” I say. Wayne looks at me and smiles.

“That sounds like fun, but we will not bite you,” Wayne says. I smile as I know a wolf’s bite can do nothing to an original vampire. I do not want the she-wolf to realize it, as she will come for me and try to bite me, and she wants to kill me for some reason I do not know about. Maybe her family got hurt by a vampire, or she hates vampires as we are meant to be enemies. Who knows? I get ready to fight, and I know I am strong as I am an original vampire. I wait for the wolves to attack. The stupid she-wolf storms at me first. I am standing in front of a tree, and as she is almost at me, I move fast to my left. She runs head-first into the tree and lands on her a*s. The other wolves laugh as she gets up and looks at me with murder in her eyes. She storms at me again, and I move away fast. This time she lands in a thorn bush.

“You should give up, Gloria,” Wayne laughs. I can see he replaces it funny, and he looks at me.

“So first, tell us the secret of catching a vampire before the rest of us make a fool of ourselves as Gloria did,” Wayne says.

“Well, look at me, and you will see what direction I plan to go in. You will move the leg I plan on stepping on, but you will have to be fast and attack about twenty steps in the direction I move, as a vampire is about twenty times faster than a werewolf. You will also have to keep watching my legs as I can decide at the last moment to change direction. So before you attack, make sure you know which way I am going,” I explain to them.

“Okay, let’s try it,” Wayne says. He is ready to attack, and I wonder if I should make it easy for him or not. Then I decided not to, as I wanted to see if he was as good as I thought. I pretend to step to the right, but I change my direction to the left at the last minute. He catches it, and he runs twenty steps ahead of me. I am too fast to stop and change direction again, and he sees me in his arms. I am surprised as I gave it my all.

“Well, that was easy,” Wayne laughs. He keeps holding me in his strong arms, and I can not help but feel I am in love with this human-turned-werewolf. I try to push him away, but he has nothing of it, and he grabs me and runs off with me into the woods. The last thing I see is Gloria’s eyes, full of hate and jealousy. I wonder if Gloria is his mate. Maybe I am messing things up for Wayne and his mate, and I try to get out of his grip.

“Let go of me, Wayne. I think Gloria is jealous, and maybe she is your mate, and I do not want to mess it up for you,” I say.

“She is not my mate! I feel no bond with her. I feel a bond with you, Kristina,” Wayne says. I am shocked as I also feel pulled toward him. My once cold heart beats fast and warm in my chest. I have not felt love in such a long time. It feels weird to me.

“What do you mean you feel a bond with me?” I ask.

“I want you as my mate, Kristina, but as soon as I mark you, you will die,” Wayne says.

“No, I will not. I am an original and will become a hybrid,” I explain to Wayne.

“A hybrid?” Wayne asks, and I can see it is the first time he has heard about a hybrid.

“Yes, half-vampire and half-werewolf, like Miriam is half-witch and half-werewolf. I also do not think if a werewolf marks a vampire as his mate, he could poison her, but I am not sure about that as it is a bite of a werewolf. We will have to ask Miriam one day or Jeff, but as an original, no werewolf bite can harm me,” I say.

“Are you sure? Because I do not want to live without you,” Wayne asks.

“I am sure, my darling. Besides, I have the daylight ring that will protect me against your bite,” I say.

“Fine, I believe you and want you as my mate. Will you accept me?” Wayne asks.

“Yes, I will accept you are my mate, Wayne,” I say. Wayne’s fangs come out, and I feel him biting into my neck. I know that is where the mating spot for the mating mark of werewolves is. I pull out my fangs and mark him back, but when I taste his b***d, I want more, so I pull back fast. I do not want to turn my mate or kill him. I can see that my mark is not going away. Does that mean I will get my wolf with the next full moon? I wonder.

“Well, thank you for not killing me,” Wayne laughs.

“I can say the same,” I laugh. It is the first time an original became a werewolf’s mate. I know my father will be furious if he replaces out about this, but I do not give a s**t. All I want in life is to be with Wayne and have him as my mate. Wayne carries me to his room, but we hear a scream in the woods before reaching his room. Wayne puts me down, and we start running toward the cry. We get an opening and in the opening, in the middle of a circle of rogues, is a young girl. She is sitting there half-naked while the wolves try to touch her. She keeps fighting them off, but they rip another piece of her clothing off her almost naked body every time she tries. I am furious as I run to grab her and get her out of there, but I know Wayne can not fight all these rogues alone. I will have to help him. I stand next to Wayne as the rogues look around at us. Some look surprised, and others look angry.

“How can a bloodsucker walk in the daylight,” One rogue growls.

“How can a proud wolf try to rape an innocent girl?” I ask.

“I am a rogue. I have no pride, you stupid bloodsucker,” The rogue says. That is when I attack. Wayne does not wait, and he starts helping me. For the first time, my mate and I fight side by side. The rogues stood no change as we attacked fast and viciously. One goes down after the other. I did not look at the girl sitting in the circle of the rogues. I never saw her face, but I focused on fighting the rogues. The cocky rogue bites into my arm and laughs.

“You will die soon, bloodsucker,” He says.

“Guess again, rogue. I am an original vampire, and no wolf bite can kill me,” I say. He looks at me in shock, then at the girl in the middle of the circle. He knows he is about to die.

“You set us up, Gloria! You knew she was an original vampire and that a wolf’s bit can not harm her,” He shouts as he launches at Gloria.

“I did not know that a wolf’s bite can not harm an original, I swear,” She shouts as she tries to protect herself. I am furious at Gloria. At first, I want to leave her so the rogue can kill her, but she is one of the pack, and we must protect our own. I jump in front of the rogue and rip his heart out before he can reach Gloria. I throw his heart at Gloria.

“You set us up!” I shout at her. Gloria can not look me in the eyes.

“I was trying to set you up, and the rogues were not supposed to kill Wayne. I hated you, and you still saved my life,” Gloria says.

“I only saved your life because you are one of the pack,” I say.

“You are a disgrace to the pack, Gloria. Putting one of our own in danger is against everything we believe in,” Wayne says.

“We saw everything, and Gloria, we are going to take you to the King and Queen so they can decide what to do with you,” Jonathan says as he and Miriam come walking into the clearing. He looks pissed off, and I am afraid they will put Gloria in the dungeon.

“Wait! She was just jealous, and I think she deserves another chance. I am a vampire, and it will take a while for all the wolves to trust me,” I say.

“But you are one of our pack, Kristina, and we do not want anything to happen to you,” Miriam says.

“Nothing happened to me, so give Gloria another chance. I will have my wolf by the next full moon, as Wayne and I are mates. He marked me, and I will become a Hybrid, which means I will get a wolf, and then maybe more of the pack members will accept me as part of the pack,” I say. Gloria is in tears.

“I was awful to you, Kristina, and here you are helping me. I want to be your friend, and I promise I will not be so awful to you anymore,” Gloria cries.

“Stop it, Gloria. I do not buy your story. You have always been friends with rogues and are now playing on Kristina’s feelings. I do not believe a word you say. Sorry, Kristina, you can forgive her, but we can not. She will go to the King and Queen, and they will decide what to do to her,” Jonathan says. As he grabs Gloria by the arm, he and Miriam walk away with Gloria. We follow them as I have no words anymore. Maybe Jonathan knows more about her than I do. Wayne takes my hand, smiles, and pulls me back to his cabin. What happens to Gloria is none of our business anymore, as I forget all about her when the door closes behind Wayne and me.
