Rejected, Broken And Forgotten -
Chapter 97
Walker’s POV
Paris and I fly to America to visit our pack. It will no longer be our pack, as Ace must take over. I do not know how to say goodbye to the pack where I grew up. It will be hard for me, but what can I do? I have to run the Werewolf Kingdom together with Paris. We now have packs worldwide, and we need to protect them. It is a massive task for Paris and me, but we must do it. We united the werewolf packs, and the Cloverfield pack will remain part of the Kingdom. I know we can come and visit them anytime we can, but it will still be hard not to be able to live with them. They were like the family I never had, and I will miss them. I have Paris now, and I am glad about that, but that does not mean I will not miss the wolves I grew up with. Paris is my everything, and she never had a home where she felt welcome. We drive into the driveway that leads to the packhouse. I will miss Midnight, my horse, and I know Paris is already in love with Daylight. I wonder if we can not move the Kingdom here, but I know it is impossible as the ground around here is too small for all the pack that stays around the Kingdom. Luckily, we can be at any place at any time of the year, and we can still communicate with the packs of the Kingdom.
Jeff and Elena look excited to be here as we stop at the packhouse. Daylight and Midnight run toward us. I can see they are excited about seeing Paris and me. Paris jumps out and runs to Daylight, and Daylight kneels so Paris can get on her back. I jump out and run to Midnight and jump on his back. I have missed him as much as he has missed me, and I want to ride him and forget about all our worries for a while. Daylight and Midnight run with us around the packhouse while the wolves look on in amusement. We are like children enjoying ourselves. We ride into the open field and let Midnight and Daylight run to where they want to go. Sometimes one needs to let the horse lead you and enjoy the ride. Soon, they stop at the river, and the other horses are there as if they are waiting for us. I get off Midnight’s back and see one of the horses look injured. I see a claw mark on its leg, and I look closer. We need to get him to the packhouse where the shamans can heal it, but we need to replace out who or what made that claw mark. I feel that there are a few rogues on our land, and we need to replace them before they hurt more than a horse.
“Let us take the horses home before we go look for whatever did this,” I say to Paris, and she nods.
We lead the horses home, and they follow us like children of the pack. The injured horse keeps up, but we go slowly with him as we do not want anything to happen to him. I know the pack will be upset that something hurt one of the horses, and we will go hunting for whatever injured the horse. As we reach the packhouse, the shamans start healing the horse immediately. I can see the relief on the horse’s face as the pain disappears. I am glad we have magical wolves among us that could help it.
“We have to replace out who or what did this,” Ace says. He looks upset, like most wolves in the pack.
“We will go hunting for the creature who did it,” I say.
“We are ready to go, Alpha,” Ace says.
“We need to be careful as there may be more than one creature and stay in groups. Paris, Jeff, Elena, Ace, come with me,” I say. I think I know where the thing or whatever it is is hiding. I could smell it in the air. I know there are caves in the mountains and it is easy to hide there. Ace nods, and I know he thinks the same thing I do. We will take the off-road vehicles as we do not want to put our horses under more stress. We drive off to the cave in the mountains. I am sure we will replace whoever attacked the horse in the caves.
A foul smell hits us as we reach the cave, and I am on high alert. I stay close to Paris as we leave the vehicles and walk up the mountain. I do not want the thing that is there to attack her. The shamans followed us as they had the same idea as us. I know it is the lair of a beast as we enter the caves.
“What do you want from me, King and Queen of werewolves?” A deep voice comes from the cave.
“Why did you attack our horse?” I ask.
“I was hungry,” The voice says.
“So you are eating our animals?” Paris asks.
“I will kill you and eat you as well,” The voice says. Our eyes have adapted to the dark in the cave, and we see a wolf about seven feet standing in the cave.
“Who are you, and what are you doing on our land?” I ask.
“I am who I am, and I do not care whose land this is. I will stay where I want to,” The Wolf says.
“You are not welcome on our land,” Paris says.
“I do not care what you want. I do as I please,” He says and laughs. I know he has something or someone with him. I can smell the fear of the creature that is with him.
“Who is with you?” I ask.
“That is none of your business. Get out of my cave!” The wolf shouts.
“You will have to fight us,” Paris says.
“I said I would kill you,” The wolf says as he storms at us. His mouth is open, and I can see his yellow fangs. I am not afraid as I know he does not stand a chance against us. We are ready for his attack, and as he jumps to attack Paris, I push him, and he falls hard against the cave wall. He growls in anger and gets up fast, striking again. This time Paris kicks him against the side of his head as she jumps up in the air and does a roundabout kick. I am on top of him as he falls, and Ace holds him down from the other side. He growls in anger as he can do nothing.
“I will ask you one more time, who are you?” I ask.
“f**k you!” He screams and tries to release himself from our grips. I kick him in the ribs, and he growls in pain this time. He will not tell us his name, but then we hear a scream from the cave behind us.
“Let go of my mate! I will kill all of you!” A she-wolf says as she comes walking out of the cave. She is as big as her mate.
“What are you doing on our land, and why are you attacking our horses?” Paris asks. She is not taking her eyes off the she-wolf.
“We were hungry. We did not mean to do you any harm. Please, we have not eaten for a long time. We are from a pack to the south, and a group of rogues took over our pack. We had to flee and land in the hands of humans, and they turned us into bigger wolves, and now we feel like monsters. We feel too ashamed to show our faces. You can see how tall we are. We do not know what happened to the rest of our pack. We do not know if the rogues were working with the humans. We heard about the King and Queen also being the Cloverfield pack and came here to get help, but then we were afraid you would kill us when you saw what we looked like,” The she-wolf says.
“Yeah, sorry I was rude and tried to attack you, but I was angry as you are the King and Queen of werewolves and were supposed to protect all of us, and I was angry at you,” The Wolf says.
“We were in Europe fighting the vampire Mikhail, but we will help you and your pack. Tell us your names,” I say.
“I am Jameson, and this is Ina,” The wolf says.
“We did not know you were in Europe killing that beast,” Ina says.
“Come with us to see how the shamans can help you,” I say. We walk outside, and the shamans look at the two giant wolves.
“We can help them,” Ace says.
“Let us all go to the packhouse and see what we can do. We will take action and get to your pack tomorrow. Do you know where humans kept you? How did you escape?” Paris asks, and I can see the suspicion in her eyes.
“We escaped from a park nearby. We will take you to our pack first so you can help us save our pack,” Ina says. Jameson looked at me, and I could swear I saw something evil in his eyes. I do not trust them, and I know Paris does not as well.
“I think we have to help them here. We can not go to the packhouse now,” Paris says.
“I agree. Let us help them here,” I say. Ace gets what I want, and he nods. The shamans start their chants, and the two werewolves grab their heads, begging them to stop what they are doing, but the shamans do not listen to them. As we all know, they have chips in their brains.
“If you tamper with the chips, we will die,” Ina shouts. The shaman continues, not listening to them, and I know they must have better chips in their brains. If they die, so be it, but we need those chips to send to Herman, and the rest of our team can look at those chips. I know the wolves only injured the horse to get the pack’s attention, hoping to meet the King and Queen to kill us. We need to replace out who and what is behind this, as we can not allow rogues and dogmen to run around with chips that make them even more advanced. I know it must be a human, but who? Did he work with Mikhail, and is he continuing the work of Mikhail, or is this a whole organization that used to work with Mikhail? We will have to replace out and stop them as soon as possible.
“Stop!” Jameson shouts. I can see he is in pain. He drops dead before us the next moment. The chip in his brain must have killed him. Ina does not shout out as she dies. The shaman takes the chips out of their heads to Herman, who lives in his little cottage again with his mate. I am glad we found these creatures before someone could use them for doing evil. I hope and pray there are not many of them out there, as we will have to start our whole fight again. We all go to Herman’s cottage in the woods.
“King, Queen, what a surprise to see you here. After the war with Mikhail, I thought you would stay in the Kingdom,” Herman says. We hand him the chips, and Herman frowns.
“What is this, Herman?” Paris ask.
“Advanced chips I thought the government would never use. We used to test them when I was working for them but found them too dangerous to use,” Herman says.
“Do you know someone that will use them if they are desperate?” I ask.
“I do, and he is not a nice man. He is as evil as they get. He always wanted to become a vampire, but now that his hope is gone, he will use it. General Huge Lowe,” Herman says, and he looks worried. I sigh. So here we go again. When I thought it was safe to have pups, we had a new enemy, but he was human, and we had to take him out fast.
“I know where he will be. It will be no problem to kill him fast and without everyone knowing,” Herman says. I am happy to hear that.
