Chapter 10

Brella P.O.V

I sat on the couch feeling bored as ever, wishing I could go for a run with Ryan, Jace and Kristy, but I couldn’t risk shifting and harming the babies. Dr. Reid says that the shifting of my bones can harm the babies and I know I couldn’t let that happen, so here I am home alone having absolutely nothing to do. Well I wasn’t alone if you ask me, Judy was in the kitchen and my father left two guards to watch me, I guess he heard what happen and wanted to keep my mate away from me. Mom was out doing shopping for her future grandchildren. I swear it’s as if she’s the one pregnant.

“Can I get you anything Brella?” Judy asked coming out of the kitchen drying her hands. She probably finishes washing the dishes.

”If you could get me out of this house I would be glad.” I said, making my face pout.

She laughs. “I see you’re still the same before you left, why don’t you visit Lily, your best friend.” She suggested. “Did you tell her you were coming back?”

“Oh yeah, I totally forgot to tell her I’m coming back, thanks Judy.” I said pushing myself to get up. “If anyone return please let them know I’m at Lily, okay.” I told Judy before picking up my bag and head out the door. I welcome the nice cool fresh air that fanned my face as soon as I stepped out. My sun flower baby doll dress threatens to blow up, so I press it down. I turn as I heard two foot steps behind me and recognize the two guards my father assign to me before he left. “Do you really have to follow me, all over?” I asked. Not liking this one bit, what happen to my freedom I once had?

“Yes, the Alpha gives us precise instruction to not let you out of our sight.” A tall huge guy said. He looks scary if you ask me, with his eyes so dark and big mussels threaten to pop out his shirt. The other guy beside him didn’t look as scary as him, in fact he seems familiar to me but I shake that thought off.

“Whatever just keep your distance okay.” I said before turning and head for my car. I swear that scary guy growl at me, he seems new around here, I’ve never seen him before. I should have my father talk to him, he need to be taught some manners towards the Alpha daughter. With that thought in mind I hop in my car, strap myself in and drove to Lily’s house.

I parked my car in front the familiar blue and white house with picked white fence around it. I got out my car and went to the door, feeling nervous suddenly. I knocked, and no answer, I knocked again and heard a voice from inside shouting. “I’m coming.” I fixed my dress neat and maintain my stance as the door slowly open to reveal my best friend I haven’t seen in five months. She looked just the same as I left. I smiled nervously at her as she just stood there with her mouth gape wide open.

“Hey.” I said shyly at her, not knowing if she would be glad to see me. After all I did just up and left without telling her anything. Way to go Bree best friend ever, not. I stood there watching her anxiously hoping she don’t freak out on me.

“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah,” She screamed jumping up and down, causing my ears drum to ring. “Oh my gosh Bree I’m so happy to see you, I miss you so much.”

“Miss you too Lily.” I said. We both hugged and I felt grateful that my best friend didn’t shun me like I was scared she would.

“Why are you still standing there? Come inside. You need to tell me everything. She said. Her eyes drop to my stomach. “Holy cow you’re pregnant! Oh my God! Bree!”

I chuckle at her shock expression, I knew this would happen. Same old Lily, following her instruction I enter inside. My eyes wander around and I was surprise to notice not much has changed inside this house, beside the color and the fact that they have a flat screen TV. “Wow, who brought that?” I ask pointing to the TV.

“Oh my cousin did, he bought it for my birthday.” Lily explains.

“Oh it’s cool.”

“Thanks,” she said flopping down. “Come sit with me Bree.”

Once again I did as she asks me and sat next to her. We stayed in silence and I could feel her gaze on me, making me feel uncomfortable. Maybe it’s because I know I have a lot of explaining to do, as I know she’s going to question me till I’m dried.

“How have you been Lily?” I ask deciding to break the silence between us. It was too long and I couldn’t take it anymore.

“I’ve been good Bree but I missed my best friend. A lot has happen since you left.” She shifted herself to face me, I could see the sadness in her eyes and I automatically felt guilty for not telling her anything. “Why did you leave Bree?”

“Isn’t it obvious, it’s because of this” I gesture to my huge belly. Lily gazed at my stomach for a while before looking back at me. I held up my hand to stop her from speaking anything. “That night at your party I met my mate and we you know. So I got pregnant.”

“Brella you met your mate, that’s awesome. Why you never te-.”

I raised my hand stopping her short. “He rejected me Lily, the next day after the party, I woke up to replace a letter say so. A week after I found out I was pregnant. I got scared and left, just so I could get my bearings.” I finish heaving a breath.

“Oh my gosh Bree.” She wailed. “I don’t blame you for not telling me but you should have. I would have been there for you, I’m so sorry.” She pulled me into a hug, her hand rubbing my back affectionately.

“I know, I should have and I’m sorry. I missed my best friend too.” I pulled away looking at her and she smiled at me. “I promise not to keep anything from you again.”

“Then it’s a promise.” Lily smile. “So what are you having and how many months are you?” Lily bounced excited.

“Six months.” I said placing a hand on my stomach. “I don’t know the s*x because I wanted it to be a surprise but, you’ll be happy to know I’m having twins.”

“Wow!” She gawked at me her eyes wide with surprise. “Unbelievable you’re having twins? That’s amazing. Brella you’re strong girl, after what that a*s of a mate did to you, you move on and I’m so proud of you, I admire you for that.”

I blushed shrugging her compliment off, I may look strong on the outside but on the inside I feel weak, lonely. The only reason I’m moving on is because of my unborn babies. “Lily, I would love for you to be the babies Godmother.” I change the topic.

Lily beamed at me. “Oh I would love to be, you don’t even have to ask me twice.”

We chatted until noon Lily was updating me on a lot of things happen during my absent. I also told her about my stay in New York and about Ryan, Jace, Kristy and Dr. Reid. I promise her I’ll introduce them later. At times I let her feel the babies kicking and she would give me a surprise look.

“Doesn’t it hurt when they kick you?” She asks her hand on my belly.

“Not really but their kicks wakes me up a lot at nights.” I said and get up. “I guess I should be going now, moms probably worry.” I straighten my dress.

“Aw already couldn’t you stay for a while more?”

I sighted “I afraid not, I’ve been gone too long.”

“Ok but before you go, I have something for you. Wait here for a second.” She got up and left for the kitchen. I wonder what she’s going to give me.

The sound of the door being unlock caught my attention and I divert my gaze there as I straighten my dress some more, figuring it’s one of Lily’s parents. The door open slightly and the cool breezes hit me carrying that familiar scent that have the hair on the back of my neck standing up. I froze up.

The door pushed full open revealing no other than Kiefer my mate. His eyes land on me and we left staring. I could see the utter surprise on his perfectly sculpture face. My eyes narrow at him. “What are you doing here?” I question replaceing my voice.

He didn’t say anything as he kept staring at me. “Oh Brella you know, you never told me who your mate is, if I ever replace him I’ll give him a beating of a life time.” Lily said coming out the kitchen with a plate wrapped up in a file in her hand. She stopped her eyes looking from Kiefer to me, a smile forming on her lips. “I see you two met.”

I turned to Lily in surprise. “You know him?”

“Of course I know him, he’s my cousin.”

“Cousin?”

“Yeah he’s the one I wanted you to meet at the party and he also brought the TV I was telling you about.” She explains. She looked from between us again, curiosity filled her eyes. “Wait have you two met before?”

I looked at Lily apologetically before picking up my purse. “Sorry Li but I have to go now.” I said. Turning I walked to the door and easily side stepped Kiefer through the door. Neared the car, I felt a firm hand grabbed mine and I knew instantly it was him because of the electricity going up my arm at his touch.

“Brella wait.”
