Chapter 431

On the weekend, Morris finished his morning video conference and headed to the corner staircase, just as Cherise emerged from the kitchen with a steaming sandwich.

A year ago, he wouldn't have even dreamed of this scene.

At home, Cherise wore a warm-toned, country-style pajama set and had her hair up in a cute bun.

Her skin looked soft and sun-kissed, making her endearing.

She glanced at the breakfast she made and seemed quite pleased, curling her lips into a satisfied smile.

Morris, standing at the stairway corner, saw this and couldn't help but grin. No matter how tired or stressed he felt, or how large the workload, everything seemed to melt away when he saw that special someone. Downstairs in the dining area, Cherise noticed Morris staring at her from the stairway landing. A slight blush unknowingly crept onto her face.

She waved at him. "Come down for breakfast."

Morris chuckled at her words, then moved towards the dining area, and sat down next to Cherise.

He moved his chair closer, right up against hers.

Cherise turned her head to meet his intense gaze. "Sitting this close? You've almost taken over my chair. I'll fall off soon."

Hearing this, Morris lifted her up and placed her on his lap. He leaned in to whisper softly in her ear, "This way, you won't fall off. "Try my wife's sandwiches. They look pretty good."

He said this seriously, picking up a sandwich Cherise made and taking a bite. He nodded in satisfaction, "It's really quite good."

Just the two of them enjoyed the three meals a day in the sunshine was amazing. The breeze blew the white curtains of the floor-to-ceiling window gently, filling the room with warmth and romance.

After noon, Morris and Cherise said goodbyes to each other at the door.

One was heading to handle matters at the Dark Web Division, while the other had a meeting set with Mary.

In the parking lot of Chivers Residence, Morris brushed away some stray hairs blown onto Cherise's cheek and checked the necklace that always hung around her neck. "If you don't like being with Mrs. Jarrett, come back early. No need to put on a show." Cherise nodded. "It's fine. She is quite an interesting old lady.

"Besides, Jean would be there too, and it was at Ebb & Flow, so I was not alone. It was really not a big deal.

Morris nodded, feeling reassured knowing it was at Ebb & Flow

He glanced at Hugh, who immediately nodded, fully understanding what Morris meant.

Chapter 431

Jean was waiting there for Mary's car to pass by and pick her up.

She hadn't seen Mary yet, but Lisa happened to pass by.

From afar, Lisa spotted Jean from her car, quickly parked, and walked over to her.

"Jean, Jean," she called out twice while approaching.

Jean heard the voice and responded, "Hey, Lisa. What are you doing here? I thought you weren't working or studying in this area?"

Lisa pointed across the street. "I'm dropping something off for Yulia at Regalwood University. What about you? Why are you

here?

"By the way, why haven't I been able to reach you lately? What's going on?"

Jean didn't dare to mention that Lucas advised her to keep some distance from the Quinton family, so she just smiled. "I've had so much homework lately. Been really busy."

Lisa took her hand. "Come on, let's go replace a place to shop and grab something to eat."

Jean stepped back. "Sorry, I have to wait for Grandma Mary to pick me up. We're meeting my cousin-in-law for fruit wine." Lisa paused for a moment at the mention of 'cousin-in-law', realizing it meant Cherise. "Oh, in that case, can I join you? I have some free time now, and the more, the merrier."

Jean didn't know how to say no. She was the kind of person who found it hard to refuse.

Saying it too directly wasn't good, but suggesting they all go together didn't seem right for the occasion either.

Mary was notoriously slow, unbelievably slow.

"Jean, what are you doing here?" A voice came from behind them

Jean and Lisa turned around.

"Oh, boss, what are you doing here too?" Jean said, looking like she saw a lifesaver.

Truman pointed to Betrico University behind him. "Just here for a small project."

He then glanced at Lisa. "Weren't you guys supposed to come over to my place this afternoon? I'm done here and was planning to head over. Why are you still here?"

"Yeah, I'm waiting for Grandma Mary to give me a lift.

"She always drags her feet. She's definitely running late this time too," Jean said, winking at Truman behind Lisa's back.

Truman immediately understood what she meant. "Ha, the Jarrett residence and here are nowhere near each other. One's in the suburbs, the other's downtown. Come on, I'll give you a ride

"By the way, I'll give you the signed photo of that Giraffe.

"Just call Mrs. Jarrett later."

Jean looked at Truman gratefully. "Did you get the signed photo Oh yeah, got it. That's awesome.

"Thanks, bro. Lisa, I'll head out now."

"Hey, Jean, Jean, why are you leaving without waiting for me?" Lisa called out when she saw Jean leaving without waiting for

her.

She then muttered under her breath. "Jean's been acting so odd lately. Haven't seen her in days, and now she's suddenly friends with Truman from Artiverse Entertainment.

"She doesn't answer calls or reply to messages.

"No way, are they a thing now, sister-in-law and Cherise?

"No wonder I suddenly couldn't reach her. She's switched over to Cherise's side."
