Nicole lowered her head and stared at the key in her hand as she thought, It looks like I will have toreturn to the science academy again tonight and sneak into the basement to check if there are anyvoodoo bugs conveniently available over there.

Meanwhile, Nathan seemed to have noticed Nicole's slightly absent-minded state throughout the meal.Therefore, he didn't ask Nicole to stick around any longer than she had to. As a result, Nicole left assoon as dinner was over.

Nicole returned to the science academy after she left Nathan's house. Since it was already rather late,there were very few people milling about in the science academy. Fortunately for her, it was preciselybecause of this factor that she managed to sneak into the building and arrive at the basement doorsuccessfully without being thwarted once.

The situation in the basement was even more desolate than the lobby which was only to be expectedafter she learned about its existence. So, Nicole didn't waste her time as she poked through thekeyhole with the key and discovered that it was a perfect match. Then, she opened the door andwalked in as silently as she could. It was relatively dark as it was, after all, a basement, but as she wasunfamiliar with her surroundings, she wasn't sure if the basement was unoccupied despite its diminterior. Thus, she dared not risk switching on the light. As a result, she had no choice but to brave theunknown as darkness crowded her steps.

Nicole walked further into the basement cautiously with light steps. Even though there were plenty ofrooms in the science academy's basement, all the rooms were clearly labeled. Hence, she couldroughly guess the function of each room based on the labels. Since the doors of these rooms weren'tclosed, she could enter each area effortlessly with a slight push. However, as she continued to walkfurther into the basement, she found that the innermost rooms were locked.

Nicole pushed the door hard a few times but soon realized that she couldn't open it when the doordidn't budge under her fingers. At that point, she had a hunch that the thing she was looking for wasright in this room. So, Nicole quickly unlocked her phone, tapped on the flashlight function, and beganto study the lock. After a few minutes, she discovered that this room was heavily looked upon closerinspection, for not only was its door made of iron, but it was also secured with a combination lock and akey. Judging by the double protection for this very door, she was now completely certain that inside thisroom was where those dastardly voodoo bugs were cultivated.

Although she had successfully located the places she was searching high and low for, her progresswas forced to a halt due to the heavy security. Therefore, she had no choice but to turn back as shecouldn't replace a way to open the door on short notice.

I probably have to obtain the password for the combination lock and the key if I want to get into theroom and replace the voodoo bugs, Nicole thought as she stared at the iron door. After a while, she turnedaround and left.

The next day, the news of Nicole being a sugar baby swiftly became a trending headline. Intimatephotos between Nicole and Nathan were everywhere on the trending search. Not only were theyspotted leaving the science academy together, but they were also seen returning to Nathan's hometogether.

The entire medical community was shocked as soon as this news came out. After all, Nathan and hiswife had supported each other for years and were known to be a great example of a perfect marriagecouple amongst the doctors in the medical community. Hence, the whole community was in disbeliefthat Nathan would cheat on his wife, let alone have an affair with a woman about the same age as his

daughter.

However, coupled with Nicole's sudden entry to the science academy the day before, everyone couldn'thelp but start making speculations.

'No way! A May-December relationship!? How can he make advances to such a young woman?'

'Didn't Nicole get dismissed by the science academy the day before yesterday? Yet, she still managedto get in. Who else has such great authority in the science academy other than Nathan? Tsk, tsk, tsk…To think that Nathan would lose all sense of proprietary for the sake of his mistress…'

'Oh, that's right! Yesterday, I heard someone say that Nicole managed to get into the science academywith the help of a letter of recommendation. It looks like there certainly is something fishy going on.'

"Nicole, have you seen the news on the Internet?" Nathan asked, sounding panicked.

"News? What news?" Nicole returned the question with one of her own, looking puzzled.

Nathan stretched out his hand and pinched his nose upon hearing her bewilderment. Then, heelaborated in a low voice, "You will know what news I'm talking about by searching the Internet.Currently, there are rumors saying that I-I…" Nathan couldn't bring himself to finish his sentence at allas he felt ashamed of the words he was about to say.

Nicole immediately whisked out her phone, searched the Internet, and only then did she see thescandalous rumors about her relationship with Nathan. As she skimmed through netizens' commentson the Internet, she finally understood why Nathan's voice sounded a little gloomy just now. So, this iswhy!

"Don't get upset, Mr. Zeller, I will clarify this matter as soon as possible," Nicole comforted him.
