After explaining the situation, Chloe looked up at Nicole, took a deep breath, and continued, "I didn'twant to let her take the supplies, but she was in charge of the medical base, so I didn't have a choice."

Nicole felt she had made a valid point upon hearing this. She didn't know who Chloe was at all, whichmeant that Chloe wasn't among those who bought their way in. Then, she nodded and said, "I see. I'llpass this information to the police."

She didn't feel sorry for Gina because she knew everyone would jump at the chance to kick a manwhen he was down. Nevertheless, Gina should have foreseen this outcome for her past actions.

Soon after, Chloe left after handing the records over.

After that, Nicole looked up Chloe's employee records.

As Chloe had said, the records showed that she started working at the medical base during White'stime. However, strangely enough, Chloe did not fill in any family members or a next-of-kin, as thatsection was left blank.

Nevertheless, Nicole didn't dwell on that trivial matter.

The medical base had become a mess under Gina's management. There were leaks and problems atevery turn. If things had continued in that vein, Gina would have destroyed the medical base sooner orlater.

That being said, it was also challenging for Nicole to take over the management of the base. I have tospend a couple of months here to get the medical base back on track before leaving with peace of

mind.

During her time at the medical base, she didn't plan on letting the science academy or the Yaels off!Since the Yaels were the ones who secretly pulled the strings that led to the medical base's presentsituation. Otherwise, none of these things would've happened.

Alas, the Yaels were an extremely well-established family in Durobrivae. If she wanted to eliminatethem, she would have to plan wisely and take things one step at a time.

Nonetheless, dealing with Colton and the medical base had recently left Nicole's body worn out. So,she rubbed her temples and let out a long breath before returning to work. Just as she beganconcentrating on her work again, she heard a knock on her door. She looked up and called out, "Whois it?"

Then, Colton opened the door and walked in. Since the voodoo bug was removed, his health improvedsignificantly. He looked a lot more energetic now.

When she saw him, she quickly hid all traces of tiredness and smiled faintly. "Why did you come here?"she asked.

The man strode over, his dark gaze landing on hers.

Despite Nicole's efforts to cover up her exhaustion, she had recently been burdened by manyresponsibilities that were impossible to hide. One look was all it took to see through her act.

"You're exhausted," Colton said.

It was a statement, not a question.

She smiled wryly and rubbed her eyes as she admitted, "Yes, I'm tired, but that's fine. Everything willbe okay after a few days."

Then, he looked at her exhausted face and walked toward her desk. His eyes fell on her again as hesaid, "Go home and rest."

Nicole was startled at first, but she quickly responded with a smile, "I still have work to do. I'll get somerest later."

However, as soon as she finished talking, she felt herself being lifted out of the chair, and Colton wascarrying her.

She blushed as she nestled in his arms and caught a whiff of his scent. "W-What are you doing?"

He looked down at her and spoke with a firm, unyielding tone, saying, "You're too tired. You need torest."

"I-I'm fine!" Nicole tried to deny it, but Colton refused to listen to her as he began carrying her towardthe door.

At this moment, her cheeks were flaming. We're still in the medical base! People will see us!
