Saving His Feral Mate
Chapter 12: You need to fight

Tatiana POV

I was irritated when I returned to Betty and Tom’s cabin and found my mate there with some of his men. Why can’t he just leave me alone? Or better yet, reject me.

I have to admit, he was putting in the effort. He brought a picture of himself for crying out loud. Who does that? I internally chuckled when I saw it. As much as I want to hate the guy, he was certainly making it hard at times.

He even brought me dinner. My mouth was salivating at the sight of the steak, but I didn’t trust that he hadn’t poison it. Plus, I’m fully capable of hunting for my own food. The last thing I want, is for him to think I need him to provide for me.

He also brought me his comforter and left it on the porch for me to sleep on. It smelt absolutely divine covered in his scent. I really wanted to curl up in it, but I wasn’t about to do that in front of him. So instead, I laid on the other side of the porch. I could see the action irritated him, but he didn’t say anything. I was surprised at how patient he was trying to me, especially since he’s an Alpha. If only he knew that he was wasting his time, I will never accept the mate bond we share.

After he left with his men, I couldn’t hold back any longer. It was like my body moved on its own accord. I quickly made my way over to the blanket and curled up on it. I even found myself staring at the stupid picture he left me. Damn it, why can’t I just reject him and sever this stupid bond. I let out a frustrated huff.

I laid there surrounded by his scent. It didn’t take long for sleep to consume me.

I woke up early the following morning. I felt completely relaxed and it was by far the best sleep I’ve had, since becoming a rogue. Even before that, I don’t think I’ve ever slept so well. It was only because of the stupid bond, I reminded myself.

I left the cabin before Betty and Tom woke up and went hunting for breakfast. I spent the day doing the same things as I did every day, hunting and roaming the forest by myself. It definitely wasn’t an exciting lifestyle, but at least I was free to do what I wanted.

Everyday that I spend alone, made me missed my mom and my best friend Tessa, even more. I wonder how Tessa’s doing? I really wish I could of brought her with me. I hope that one day I get to see her again.

I debated not going back to the cabin tonight, since my mate said he would be there again. But I didn’t like the idea of leaving Betty and Tom alone with him, so I started to make my way back. I certainly don’t trust the guy, his kind and caring demeanour could all be an act. I need to be careful and not lower my guard around him.

As I was walking through the forest, I heard a twig snap. My ears perked up and I stopped to listen. I was instantly on high alert.

“Fancy meeting you here.” I heard Max’s chipper voice coming from behind me. I turned around to see her jumping down from a tree. She was wearing her usual outfit, cowboy boots and a belt with her machete.

Once I realized it was just Max, I turned back around and kept on walking. I could hear her following behind me.

“Where you off to, Red?” Max asked casually, as she caught up and started walking beside me. I glanced over at her but of course, I didn’t answer.

“Let me guess, the creek?” She said, while tapping her chin like she was thinking of the answer.

“Hunting, maybe?” She continued, with her one sided conversation.

“Or, are yo…” She stopped mid sentence and froze, while looking at something in front of us. She seemed to be on high alert all of a sudden and her cheerful personally was replaced with a serious one.

I followed her gaze and my body stiffened at what I saw. I instinctively started to growl and rage consumed my entire body.

I must of let my guard down listening to Max, I hadn’t sensed anyone. Standing only 20 feet in front of us, was none other than Alpha Cameron. He had an evil smirk on his face, as he watched us. He was wearing a pair of grey sweat pants, but didn’t have a shirt on.

“I’m going to assume he’s not a friend of yours, based on your reaction.” Max mumbled, while slowly reaching for the handle of her machete. Her eyes remained focused on Alpha Cameron.

“I’ve missed you, mate.” Alpha Cameron taunted. His voice low and dangerous.

“Well s**t, I wasn’t expecting that. Your mate, eh? Looks like the moon goddess was high on something, when she picked your mate too.” Max joked bitterly. I was surprised by her words, she must of had a bad experience with her mate as well. I didn’t have time to ponder it, I quickly turned my attention back towards Alpha Cameron.

“A little birdie told me that you’ve been hanging out in this neck of the woods. Since none of the men I’ve sent to collect you, have come back. I figured I should come look myself.” Alpha Cameron said, while slowly stalking toward us. I growled viciously and lowered my body to the ground, getting ready to attack.

“I would suggest, if you want your head to remain attached with your body, you stop where you are.” Max threatened, in a dangerous low voice. She drew her machete and held it in front of her. Alpha Cameron simply chuckled dryly at her words.

I heard ruffling in the bushes next me and when I looked over, I saw one of Alpha Cameron’s men walk into sight and stop. I turned my head in the other direction and there was another one of his men standing there watching us.

“Did you really think I wouldn’t replace you? You’re mine! Plus, I still need to punish you for this.” Alpha Camera spat out, while holding up his hand, so I could see the missing pinky finger.

“Well that’s unfortunate. How the hell do you drink tea, if you don’t have a pinky finger to pop out?” Max teased, in a sarcastic tone.

I could see Alpha Cameron’s demeanour change to anger. He was practically trembling. No one dared to speak back to him in my old pack. Max was successfully pressing his buttons.

“You think you’re funny now, just wait till my men are done with you.” Alpha Cameron replied, as his disgusting smirk returned.

“I’m not surprised that I’ll be fighting your men. You look like the kind of coward that would hide behind them.” Max continued to taunt, causing Alpha Cameron to growl out angrily.

Usually I wouldn’t want Max to aggravate the situation, but I knew we were going to be fighting these guys either way. Maybe if they’re mad, they’ll make stupid mistakes and give us a chance.

“Watch it little she-wolf. You’re talking to an Alpha.” One of the warriors warned, in an angry tone.

“Oh s**t! Not an Alpha? Please forgive me your highness.” Max mocked, earning her several growls form the men surrounding us.

“Red, I hope your ready to rumble. Doesn’t look like these fellas plan on leaving us alone.” Max said lowly, while her eyes darted between the men that were closing in on us.

There was now a half dozen of them and I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t sure if we could win this fight. I recognized some of the men, they were Alpha Cameron’s best warriors.

“I want Chloe alive. Do whatever you want with the other one.” Alpha Cameron shouted the command and the men around us shifted into their wolves.

They circled us, while growling and snapping their jaws in our direction. Max and I stood back to back, we were both in a defensive position waiting for them to attack.

I heard a yelp from one of the wolves behind me. I can only assume that he tried to attack Max and got a taste of her machete, good I thought to myself. I wish I hadn’t gotten Max involved in this mess, this really isn’t her fight to have. I pray to the moon goddess, that she makes it out of this alive.

One of the wolves lunged at me and as I stepped out of his way, a second one attacked. The second one managed to knock me over and latch his teeth into my shoulder. I felt pain but it only fuelled my anger. I saw red, I wanted all these men to die, especially Alpha Cameron.

I threw my body back against a tree, causing the wolf to lose his grip on me. I spun around and bite down on his neck, before ripping it out in one smooth motion. His lifeless body fell to the ground.

I spat out the flesh and b***d that remained in my mouth, before turning around to fight the next wolf.

He was a big brown wolf, but I wasn’t intimidated. He took his time circling me, assessing for any weaknesses. My eyes remained glued on him, trying to anticipate his next move.

“Red, behind you!” I heard Max shout out. Her words were laced with concern.

I quickly spun around, but it was to late. I felt a sting on my shoulder and looked up to see Alpha Cameron standing in front of me, holding a now empty syringe in his hand.

“You’re not getting away from me this time, pet.” Alpha Cameron said coldly, with an evil smirk on his face. I growled, but it came out more like a whimper.

“Get up, Red. You need to fight!” I heard Max shouting, but her voice was distance.

This can’t be happening. I would rather die than go back to that hellhole. I tried to lunge at Alpha Cameron but I felt drunk, my body was swaying and I stumbled forward. He laughed at my weakened state, causing more rage to course through me. I was frustrated, I knew there was nothing I could do, he drugged me.

Within seconds, my vision faded and my body felt heavy. I fell to the ground, as darkness consumed me.
