Saving His Feral Mate -
Chapter 17: How are you feeling?
Alpha Knox POV
I was glad that dinner was over, all I could think about was my beautiful mate. I reached her room and knocked lightly to announce my presence, but didn’t wait to hear a reply before opening the door.
I froze in shock at the sight in front of me. It was like a tornado hit the room, the coffee table was flipped over, there were broken picture frames on the ground, I could see claw marks in the couch fabric and there were multiple holes in the wall. As I was taking in the horror scene, I was hit with an over powering smell of s*x that made me scrunch my nose in disgust. What the hell happened in here? I thought to myself.
I looked over at Jo, who was sitting on the couch with a satisfied grin on his face. His shirt was completely shredded and barely hanging onto his body, his l*p was split, he had a black eye and there were bruises all over his neck and chest, or where they hickeys? I scanned the room, but Max was nowhere insight.
“What the hell happened in here? Where’s Max?” I asked sounding completely dumbfounded, as the bathroom door opened and Max walked into the room.
“Oh, hey Knox. How was dinner?” Max casually asked, like everything was completely normal.
She looked the exact same as usually, except her hair was a little disheveled.
“What happened?” I asked again, while motioned to all the broken stuff laying on the floor.
“For play, that’s happened.” Jo replied with a smug smirk, while nodding his head.
“You’re delusional.” Max spat out, while rolling her eyes at Jo. Before I could reply, she spoke again.
“Your buddy over there, thought it would be a good idea to use the M word again, so I taught him a lesson.” Max snickered.
“Then why does it reek like s*x? Never mind, don’t answer that.” I blurted out while shaking my head in disbelief and holding my hand up to silence them both.
I made my way over to the bed and sad next to my mate, deciding to ignore the two others in the room. I spent the rest of the evening next to her.
I was relieved when Jo offered to take Max on a tour of the pack house and she accepted. I think it was out of pure boredom, but it was a win for me. It finally gave me a little alone time with my mate.
“I can’t wait for you to wake up, so I can hear your voice for the first time. Please give me a chance when you do, I promise I won’t hurt you. I will always cherish and protect you, no one will ever hurt you again.” I mumbled, while gently brushing my thumb across her cheek.
This woman means so much to me already and we haven’t even had a real conversation yet. I can’t imagine her not being in my life, just the thought of her rejecting me hurts. I’m not going to lie, the fact that she’s in her human form scares me a little. At least when she was in wolf form, I didn’t have to worry about being reject. She couldn’t utter the words, but now it’s definitely a possibility. I’ll have to bring my A game when she wakes up and make sure I never hear those words leave her mouth.

Tatiana POV
My head felt like it was going to explode and I was extremely groggy. I g*****d when I tried to open my eyes, but they were glued shut. They were so dry that it took a few minutes before I was able to open them.
I glanced around the room I was in and frowned when I didn’t recognize it.That’s when hit me, the memories of what happened before I fell unconscious. I shot up on the bed and started to panic. Where am I? I wondered.
“Dang girl, took you long enough to wake up.” I heard a family voice and turned my head to see Max lying on the bed next to me. She was laying on her side leaning on one of her elbows, while watching me.
Now I felt even more confused. Did Alpha Cameron kidnap us? If so, then why did Max have such a cheerful look on her face?
I looked down at myself and gasped when I saw hands. I lifted the blanket and found legs instead of paws. That’s when the realization hit me, I was no longer in in my wolf form but rather my human one.
I got excited briefly, wondering if this meant that Chloe was back. I tried to talk to her in my head, but was met with silence. I sighed feeling disappointed.
“How are you feeling?” Max asked while yawning, bringing my attention back to her.
I didn’t reply and proceeded to get out of bed. I had to quickly hold onto the side table, when my vision blurred and I felt faint.
“Woah…Take it easy Red, you’ve been out for 4 days.” Max warned, while running over to help steady me.
It took a few minutes but the dizziness eventually faded. I looked down at my body and noticed that I was wearing a large white T-shirt, I was practically swimming in it. It only took a second for me to realize who it belonged to, it reeked of my mate. How did I end up with this on? I wondered.
I broke out of Max’s hold and walked over to one of three doors in the room. I opened it and found a walk-in closet. That wasn’t what I was looking for, so I shut it and went to the next one. That door led into a washroom. I walked inside and turned to face the mirror, my eyes grew wide as look at my reflection. I still couldn’t believe that I was in my human form. It has been so long and usually Chloe was the one in control of our human body. This was very new to me.
“We’re on Alpha Knox’s territory, if you’re wondering.” Max said, while leaning against the door frame and watching me. I still didn’t reply. I haven’t spoken in so long, I’m not confident that I can.
“You’re probably a little confused. How about we get you back into bed and I’ll explain everything.” Max offered and I simply nodded.
I was still a little wobbly on my feet, so Max helped me reach the bed. I sat down and she sat next to me, before letting out a sigh.
“Where do I even begin? You’re one popular she-wolf that’s for sure.” Max said, while chuckling lightly. I just kept watching her, waiting anxiously to hear how the hell we ended up here.
“After you were drugged, the twins showed up and chased off the guy who claimed to be your first mate. A few minutes later, Alpha Knox showed up and you can only imagine how surprised I was, when he also claimed to be your mate.” Max started to explained but paused to shake her head in disbelief.
“Anyway, after I had a back and forth battle with Alpha Knox and his chumps, I eventually gave in and let him take you to Betty and Tom’s. You had a decent wound on your shoulder and it needed to be looked after. When we got there and your wound was taken care of, Alpha Knox wanted to take you with him to his territory, but Betty and I were against it. Tom was the one that caved and sided with Alpha Knox’s, he felt you would be safer here. I wasn’t about to let you come alone, so here I am, your new roomie.” Max explained, and grinned at the end.
I felt both angry and betrayed. How could they let him take me? Tom of all people, he’s like a dad to me and he let a complete stranger take me from what I call home. Max noticed the anger in my face, causing her grin to fall.
“I know what you’re thinking and it’s not like that. Betty and Tom love you like a daughter, they were just worried the Alpha who drugged you would come back. Plus I have to admit, as much as I hate Alphas, Knox isn’t that bad. He’s been by your side every day taking care of you. The only reason he’s not here right now, is because I kick him and his minions out at night. I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes knocking soon, he has been doing that every night since we arrived.” Max said, but I still felt betrayed.
Only minutes after she spoke, there was a gentle knock at the door, causing my to jump up nervously from the bed.
“I told you, like clock work.” Max said, while rolling her eyes. I looked over at her with sheer panic on my face, my heart was practically thumping out of my chest. I didn’t want to see my mate right now.
“Do you want me to get rid of him?” She whispered and I nodded my head frantically.
“I swear to the moon goddess, if you knock one more time, I’ll chop your balls off and feed them to you.” Max threatened, before turning her head towards me and winking.
I heard a frustrated growl from the other side of the door, before it went quiet. I let out a relieved breath, when it sounded like he left.
“I’m no expert in love, but that guy is head over heals for you. I’ve caught him a couple times now, whispering sweet nothings in your ear. I’m not sure if I found it cute or creepy.” She joked, but it didn’t make feel any better.
I was overwhelmed with emotions and felt like I was suffocating. I made my way to the door, I needed to get out here. This was all too much. I don’t want a mate and I don’t need protection. I’ve survive on my own for years in the most unforgiving environment and I plan on continuing to live on my own.
“Woah…Where you doing? It’s the middle of the night, at least wait till morning.” Max said, while meeting me at the door. I glared at her and she put her hands up in surrender.
“I’m on your side, Red. I’m just saying your safe here. We’ve been here for four days and not once have I felt threatened by them. At least rest for the night and we can leave in the morning.” Max suggested, but I didn’t feel safe. I wanted to be in the environment I knew and where I felt in control.
I slowly opened the bedroom door, trying not to make any noise. Max huffed in frustration, but followed me out of the room. I was grateful that she was with me, because I had no idea where I was going.
As soon as we were in the hallway, Max took the lead and started walking. I followed close behind her, staying on high alert.
We walked down two flights of stairs before reaching the main living space. It was massive, the living room alone could accommodate more than 30 people at a time. I didn’t spend much time looking around, because I had one goal and that was to get out of this place.
“This way.” Max whispered, pointing towards a large foyer with two doors that I can only assume lead outside.
Luckily because it was so late, we didn’t run into anyone. I was worried they would try to stop us or worse, forcefully keep us here if we were caught. The quicker I can get off this territory, the better. I thought to myself.
Once we were outside, we ran to the tree line. I felt like we were being watched, but when I looked around, I couldn’t see anyone.
We cautiously made our way through the forest, when I heard a twig snap behind us.
I spun around ready to fight, but froze in shock when saw my mate standing there leaning up against a tree. I could see several emotions swirling in his eyes, he looked sad, concerned and disappointed. It caused my heart to clench but I brushed it off, it’s only because of the bond, I reminded myself.
