Saving His Feral Mate -
Chapter 19: You look familiar
Tatiana POV
When Alpha Knox found Max and I trying to leave his territory, I was worried he’d try to force me to stay. When he assured me that he wouldn’t, I couldn’t help but relax slightly. I could tell he was being sincere and when he pleaded for me to give him a chance, I felt Chloe come forward and peer curiously through our eyes.
I felt excited when I sensed Chloe, she didn’t talk to me but feeling her presence was enough to give me hope. Maybe Knox is the key in bringing her back? I thought to myself.
I was still hesitant to stay, but the sad and desperate look in Knox’s eyes was enough to convince me to at least give him a couple days.
I had to remind myself that not everyone was like Alpha Cameron. I don’t trust Knox, but I think he’s earned at least a chance to convincing me that the mate bond isn’t a curse. He definitely has his work cut out for him, but I think I owe him that.
I couldn’t believe the sparks I felt when he brushed his hand against my cheek. It was the most intense sensation I’d ever felt. Butterflies invaded my stomach and I temporarily forgot about everything bad thing that’s ever happened to me. It was addictive like a drug, I wanted him to keep touching me. Thank goddess, Max was there to bring me back to reality. I can’t let a few sparks make me forget everything. I still don’t want a mate.
After we ate breakfast, Knox brought me some clothe to wear. He said they belonged to his sister-in-law. I put them on and they fit pretty good. It consisted of a pair of black leggings and an oversize blue tunic.
I felt a little uncomfortable in my human form. It’s been years since I last shifted. Plus, whenever we were in our human form, Chloe was always the one in control and I sat back and watched from the sidelines. Now I’m going to have act like a human without her help and that’s not going to be an easy task.
“You ready to go on a tour?” Knox asked excitedly. I couldn’t help but feel nervous. I haven’t interacted with anyone in years, I’m not sure how I feel about meeting his pack. Chloe was the social one, I lack in that department.
I looked over at Max for reassurance and she lightly nodded her head, silently encouraging me to go but I was still hesitant.
“You don’t mind if I tag along, right Knox?” Max asked, when she notice the internal battle I was having. I let out a relieved breath, giving her a thankful look. Knox on the other hand, let out a frustrated sigh. He clearly wanted some alone time with me.
“Sure, but can you at least put on some clothe?” Knox asked, sounding defeated.
“Why? We’re werewolves being naked is natural.” Max replied with a shoulder shrug.
“Fine, whatever.” Knox grumbled, while making his way to the door.
Knox led the way out of the room and down the hall, before we descended the stairs to the main floor. I remembered the basic layout from when Max and I tried to leave last night, but now I got a better chance to take everything in.
It was a gorgeous living area with a modern decor. I could see the kitchen off to one side and a dining area right next to it. It was all open concept.
Several pack members were walking around and I didn’t miss the looks we were getting. Some were curious, while others looked disgusted. The warriors were practically eye f*****g Max. I couldn’t really blame them, she was still walking around in her birthday suit, not one bit phased by the looks she was getting.
“Oh my Goddess! Who are these lovely ladies.” I heard a woman voice ask and turned to see a lady in her late 40’s making her way towards us. She had an excited smile on her face and I noticed the resemblance between her and Knox. She must be related.
“Mother, it’s nice to see you. This is Tatiana and Max, they are my guests.” Knox introduced us. I was relieved that he didn’t call me his mate. I really don’t want anyone to know, not yet.
“It’s lovely to meet you, my names Connie.” She replied, while pulling me into a tight hug. I smiled awkwardly but didn’t say anything. You could tell Connie wasn’t sure how to greet Max, she tried to give her a distance hug, but a cheeky Max wanted to make her feel uncomfortable and pulled her in for a tight one. I giggled to myself, the face Connie made was priceless. Even Knox was stifling a laugh.
“Mother, if you’ll excuse us, I was giving the ladies a tour.” Knox said and I felt relieved, I really didn’t want to continue talking to his mother. She seemed nice enough, but small talk isn’t my strong suit.
“Absolutely. I would love it if we could all have dinner together soon.” His mother suggested, causing me to get suspicious. Did Knox tell her who I was? I looked over at him and he had a nervous look on his face. He kept pulling at the collar of his shirt like it was suffocating him.
“Maybe. We’ll talk about it later.” He replied in a short tone. She didn’t seem happy with his answer, but didn’t push it any further. She eventually said goodbye and was on her way.
“Sorry about that, my mother gets excited when there’s new people around.” Knox explained, but wouldn’t look me in the eyes.
He continued the tour, showing us all the rooms in the pack house. We reach a room that looked like some sort of entertainment area. It had pool tables, video games, a large flat screen TV and a bar area. There were a few pack members hanging out inside and they all turned to look at us when we walked in.
“Brother, who do we have here.” One of the guys playing pool asked, while walking towards us. He had a mischievous smirk on his face. He also had a lot of similar features to Knox, so I wasn’t surprised when he called him brother. Something about the way he looked at Max and I, rubbed me the wrong way.
I couldn’t help the low and stead growl that left my chest. Knox looked at me with both shock and concern, but I still couldn’t stop growling. As a wolf, I’m good at sense good people from the bad and everything about this man screamed bad.
“Woah there tiger. That’s no way to great the Alpha’s brother.” The man joked, but I didn’t miss the l**t swirling in his eyes when he looked at us.
“Kyle, they are my guests, treat them with respect.” Knox growled. I could tell even if they were brothers, they didn’t seem to be anything alike. Kyle put his hands up in mock surrender, but the amused smirk never left his face.
“I’m Kyle and you are?” He introduced himself, before extending his hand for me to shake. I glanced at his hand but I couldn’t bring myself to shake it.
After a minute he realized I wasn’t going to shake his hand, so he turned his attention to Max. His eyes travelled up and down her body, like a true predator. The l**t swirling within them was clear as day.
“I like your outfit.” He said and his smirk grew wider, as his eyes continuing to rack over her body.
“Oh thank goddess you like it, it took me hours to pick it out.” Max replied sarcastically, while rolling her eyes. I could see it in her face, she was getting the same bad vibes as I was. Kyle chuckled at her response and continued to shameless stare at her body.
“I think that’s enough, let’s get out of here and continue the to…” Knox tried to intervene, but Kyle spoke again.
“You look familiar, what’s your name?” Kyle asked Max, with his head tilted to the side. I noticed Max was getting uncomfortably and it surprised me. She’s never uncomfortable, even in a normally very uncomfortable situation, she acts right at home.
“Max.” She replied dryly.
“Max” Kyle repeated, looking deep in thought like he was trying to figure something out.
“What pack were you from before turning into a rogue?” He asked curiously and I didn’t like the look he was giving Max. She looked extremely uncomfortable and I was about to intervene, but Knox beat me to it.
“I told you, they are my guest and they don’t need to be interrogated by you, brother.” Knox gritted out and I could feel the tension between them. Kyle finally stopped staring at Max and turned to look at Knox. Their eyes locked and it was a clear fight for dominance. After a few minutes, Kyle backed down and looked away.
“Very well. I look forward to see you ladies around.” Kyle replied with a disgusting smirk, before walking away towards the pool tables.
“Let’s get out of here.” Knox said, the irritation clear in his tone. It caught me off guard, I’ve only seen his playful and easy going side. It made me curious to know more about him and his family.
We left the entertainment room and walked outside. Knox let out a frustrated sigh when we were alone and turned to look at us.
“I’m sorry about that. He’s an a*****e, but he’s harmless. He’s just jealous that I’m the eldest and took over the Alpha title. Don’t let him get under your skin.” Knox explained and I could see the concern in his eyes. He was probably afraid that his jackass of a brother would scare us off.
“I’m used to dealing with assholes like him, don’t stress.” Max replied with a shoulder shrug. She was trying to act casually but I could see the slight discomfort remaining on her face. I wonder what that was all about? I’ll have to ask her when we’re alone.
“Are you ok?” Knox turned toward me and asked. His eyes were watching me carefully and I could see the concern within them.
“I’m fine.” I replied. Not really knowing how to explain the bad vibes I was getting from his brother.
We continued the tour and I was blown away by his territory, it was way bigger than Alpha Cameron’s pack and much nicer. Everyone seemed happy and got excited when Knox was around. No one was fearful when they saw him, the complete opposite from where I came from. Everyone feared Alpha Cameron, he was cruel to his people and wanted the pack to fear him.
“There’s my mate! I’ve been look everywhere for you gorgeous.” I heard a males voice announce and I turned to see one of Knox’s warriors walking towards Max, with a big grin on his face.
“What did I tell you about calling me that? I swear to the moon goddess, I’m not afraid to kick your sexy a*s in public.” Max gritted out in irritation and my eyes grew wide. He called her mate, is he really?
“You think my a*s is sexy?” The warrior asked, complete ignoring her threat.
Max stalked towards him, looking like she was ready to kill.
“Watch out guys, you’re about to witness some serious foreplay.” The warrior blurted out excitedly and my eyes grew wide. Did he knock his head or something? She looks like she ready to kill, not get down and dirty with him.
Max reached him in no time and threw a hard punch towards his face. At the last second he dodged the punch and managed to end up behind her. He had the same excited grin on his face, as he grabbed one of her arms and pinned it in the middle of her back.
“Is that all you got?” I heard him whisper into her ear. I was about to intervene when Knox put his arm out in front of me, stopping me from getting involved.
“Don’t, trust me. As weird as this might look, this is actually foreplay for them. Any second now, we’re about to get hit with the scent of arousal.” Knox said, while scrunching his nose in disgust. Almost like clockwork, the smell hit my senses and I also scrunched my nose.
“They’ll be at it for a while, come on. I want to show you something.” Knox said with a small smile, while offering me his arm.
I hesitate for a second, not sure if I felt comfortable leaving Max alone with one of his warriors. But when I looked over at them, I couldn’t believe the sight. Knox was right, this was totally foreplay. They were on the ground and Max was straddling his waist, while rocking her h**s.
“I dare you, say it again.” Max growled.
“MATE.” The warrior said, emphasizing the word. I watch Max land a solid slap to his face, causing another wave of arousal to hit my nose.
I had seen enough and couldn’t believe any of it. He really was her mate and they were both totally into whatever you want to call that. I shook my head in disbelief, as I hooked my arm with Knox’s and we started to walk away from them.
“Mate” I heard the warrior say again and it was immediately followed by the sound of a slap. Damn that guy is sucker for punishment. I thought to myself.
“That’s Jo by the way. He’s one of my best warriors and a good guy.” Knox explained, while looking down at me and smiling.
“That was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.” I mumbled, but more to myself.
“You have no idea.” Knox chuckled and I couldn’t help but watch him. He looked so handsome when he laughed and it was contagious. I quickly found myself smiling back at him.
