Saving His Feral Mate -
Chapter 55: Relationship goals
Chloe POV
I was getting dressed for the third time this morning. That’s right, I was on my THIRD outfit of the day and it wasn’t even 9:00am yet. Curious what happened to my first two? Two words, my mate, that’s what happened. Now that I finally let him mate with me, it’s like I released the beast. I lost track of how many times we had s*x throughout the night. In the morning, I tried to get dressed but each time I did, a certainly Alpha would seduce me. The next thing I knew, my clothes were being shredded. I can’t complain though, I enjoyed every minute of him claiming my body.
As I walked out of the closet, I noticed Knox standing beside the bed watching my every move. He was completely naked and the sight alone caused a wave of arousal to wash over me. I saw him inhale deeply before his eyes turned black.
“Don’t you even dare rip this blouse, Knox, it’s my favourite.” I warned with a stern look and a pointed finger. The man ignored my words and stalked towards me with a mischievous grin on his face.
“Come on, one more time before we have to face the day.” He pouted and reached for me at the same time.
“That’s what you said the last two time.” I argued and quickly darted away from him. He huffed in frustration when his fingers grazed my h*p, but wasn’t fast enough to get ahold of me.
“I’m going to check on Tessa. I think a cold shower might do you good.” I teased with a wink, before opening the bedroom door and walking out.
“Damn it, I was so close.” I heard him mutter under his breath, before the door slammed shut.
I chuckled to myself as I made my way to the room next door and knocked. I was surprised when there was no answer. Knox had warned Jag to keep Tessa hidden for now, so I expected her to be in the room. I tried knocking again, but still there was no answer. I slowly opened the door and found the room empty, the bed was completely untouched. I frowned when I realized that Tessa hadn’t spent the night in there. Where could she be?
I walked down to the Beta floor and decided to check with Jag before going into full panic mode.
As soon as I reached his bedroom door, I heard a soft female voice inside and recognized it as Tessa’s. I instantly felt relieved, at least I knew she was safe.
I knocked on the door and it only took a minute before it opened. Jag stood on the other side with the biggest grin on his face.
“Chloe!” Tessa squealed from somewhere behind him and ran to the door. She immediately engulfed me in a hug which I returned.
“Good morning.” I replied as she pulled away from me.
That’s when I saw it! My eyes widened and my mouth fell opened.
“He marked you! I swear to the moon goddess, if he forced that mark on you I’ll f*****g kill him.” I growled angrily, while snapped my head towards Jag.
I knew mates could be possessive and overboard dominant, but I never thought Jag would do something like that. Especially given everything Tessa had been through. She deserved time and not to be rushed into the mating bond.
Jag gulped nervously and put his hands up in mock surrender, before taking a few calculated steps backwards.
“No, he didn’t force his mark on me.” She quickly corrected, while shaking her head rapidly.
“Can you give us a few minutes?” Tessa asked, while turning her attention towards Jag.
I instantly relaxed a little, I could see the adoration in his eyes when he looked at her. I felt a little bad for my outburst, but still didn’t like the fact that he had marked her so quickly.
“Of course, I’ll be down in my office. I left my number on the desk if you need anything just call.” He replied and kissed her forehead lovingly, before making his way to the door.
I was standing close to the door and watched him take a few wide steps to get around me, looking a little nervous as he did. He shut the door behind him once he was out of the rooms
“I see you finally let your mate mark you.” Tessa said softly, while motioning with her chin towards my neck.
“I did.” I replied.
“Congratulations.” She added with a soft, genuine smile.
“You know, Jag could have waited for you to be ready. You’ve been through so much, he shouldn’t have rushed you.” I blurted out and immediately looked at her for a reaction. Maybe I was overstepping my boundaries, but I was worried about her.
“He didn’t rush me, it was my decision. We stayed up all night talking. He was nothing but sweet and caring, a complete gentleman. I can’t really explain it, but it felt right. After being locked up in hell for so long, it felt nice having someone around me that genuinely cared. He told me that he would wait until I was ready, but I didn’t want to wait. I’ve been waiting my whole life to replace someone that would love me. Why not give into the bond? That’s why I asked him to marked me.” She added and her voice held an edge of determination.
“As long as it was your decision. I’m sorry about my reaction, I was just worried about you.” I admitted.
“I know and I appreciate that.” She replied.
“Chloe, I’ve never been this happy in my entire life. I’m finally getting a fresh start and I don’t want to waste it being scared. Plus, I know you wouldn’t be here if they were bad people.” She added and she was completely right, I would have never left her alone with Jag last night if I didn’t trust the guy.
“I guess I’ll have to apologize to your mate.” I said with a sigh.
“I’m sure he’ll get over it.” She chuckled.
We chatted for another 30 minutes, it was really nice having Tessa back in my life. She was always really easy to talk to and genuinely a sweet person.
After a while I was getting hungry. I offered to bring food up for Tessa, but she decline.
“Ok, I’ll come and see you a little later then.” I told her and she nodded.
I opened the bedroom door ready to leave, when I came face to face with Jag. His eyes widened when he saw me and he took a step back.
“Are we good?” He asked nervously.
“Ya we’re good. Sorry about early.” I replied and saw him instantly relax.
“I get it, you were looking after your friend. But I want you to know, Chloe, I would never hurt her.” Jag said truthfully.
“I know, I guess I was just a little surprised.” I replied.
“Did you forget something, Jag?” Tessa asked, as she walked over to where we stood.
“Not really… I never actually left.” He admitted sheepishly, while rubbing the back of his neck.
“My wolf wouldn’t let me leave the floor so I waited down the hall.” He continued, making us both chuckle.
“I see, so you were eavesdropping.” I teased.
“No I swear, I stayed down the hall the entire time. I only came back to see if Tessa was getting hungry.” He replied with wide eyes.
“I’m just kidding Jag, I was leaving anyway.” I said and saw him visibly relax, before making his way over to Tessa and wrapped his arms around her. He lowered his face to the crook of her neck and inhaled deeply, making Tessa giggle.
“I think that’s my cue, I’ll see you guys later.” I joked, but neither one of them replied. I think they were already in their own little bubble.
I left the room and made my way downstairs to grab a late breakfast.
Today I had pulled my hair up in a messy bun and wore a burgundy blouse that left my neck on full display. I was ready to show the world who I belonged to.
As I entered the dinner hall the room went silent, all eyes were on me. I held my head up high when I heard several gasps from people noticing the mark on my neck.
I scanned the room and found Sheryl and Connie sitting at a table together. I quickly made my way over to them, ignoring the whispers from everyone else.
“Oh my goddess, he marked you!” Connie squealed excitedly while covering her mouth with a hand.
“He did.” I replied with a soft chuckle. His mother really did seem excited that we were mated. His father on the other hand, I’m not sure how he would react when he replaces out that Knox marked me.
“Wow, congratulations. You guys are so perfect for each other.” Sheryl added with a soft smile.
“Thank you.” I replied.
“So… When’s the Luna ceremony? Oh… We should go dress shopping together. I’m so excited, I always wanted a daughter and now I have two of them.” She gushed excited, while glancing between the two of us. We both laughed at her eagerness.
“I’m not sure when the ceremony will be, we haven’t had a chance to talk about that yet.” I replied and it wasn’t a lie, we hadn’t talked about it. I also knew we wouldn’t be having a ceremony until things settle down, but she didn’t need to know that part.
I ate my breakfast, while Connie talk excitedly about the Luna ceremony and Sheryl’s pregnancy. She seemed legitimately thrilled with everything that was happening.
Once I was done breakfast, I said goodbye to Connie and Sheryl and left the hall.
It had been a few days since I last saw Betty and Tom, so I headed towards their little cabin. Tom had been released from the hospital a few days ago and they had since settled into their new home.
I walked through the forest until I came across a little cabin. I had never seen it before, but Knox had explained how to replace it. It was a cute little place, reminded me a lot of their old cabin.
I could hear multiple voices coming from inside and a lot of laughing. Before I reached the door, it flew open and four warriors walked out. They were laughing historically and each had a Tupperware container in their hands.
“Oh, hey Luna. It’s nice to see you.” One of the warrior greeted with a genuine smile.
“It’s nice to see you guys too. Is this Betty and Tom’s new place?” I asked looking slightly confused. These guys seemed to be leaving a good friends place and that didn’t make sense, since Betty and Tom don’t know anyone here.
“Ya, they’re inside, we just came for a visit. Betty makes the best chocolate chip cookies, she made us each our own batch.” One of the guys bragged with a toothy grin, while holding up his Tupperware container that was full of cookies.
“Oh, ok.” Was all I managed to replied.
“Is it true, Luna?” One of them asked.
“Is what true?” I replied with a frown.
“That Alpha Knox brought you a portrait of himself when you first met?” He continued, while stifling a laugh. I had to cover my own mouth to hide the amusement on my face.
Unfortunately, that action was enough to confirm the rumour and they all buckled over laughing. Betty must have been telling them all kinds of embarrassing stories about their Alpha. She can be such a little trouble maker sometimes.
“I can’t wait for the next training session, that s**t’s definitely going to be brought up.” One of the warriors stated in between fits of laughter.
“Anyway Luna, it was really nice talking to you but we need to get going. We all have border patrol duties this morning.” Another one of them said.
“No problem, see you guys around.” I replied, before they bowed their heads and walked away.
That was weird, I thought to myself. Who knew that Betty and Tom were such social little butterflies. I pushed the thought aside and gently knocked on the door.
“Come in” I heard Betty announce and I immediately opened the door.
“Did you guys eat all those cookies already?” Betty asked, before turning around and noticing that it was be standing in the doorway.
“Oh sorry dear, I thought it was those lovely boys coming back for more cookies.” Betty said, before walking over and wrapping me in a familiar hug.
“Making friends already, I see.” I joked.
“What can I say, I make the best cookies around. They keep coming back for more.” She bragged and I couldn’t help but chuckle. Betty always felt like a second mother to me, she had a comforting aura that instantly made anyone feel at home.
“I see you finally let that Alpha mark you.” Betty added while pointing to my neck. I was a little nervous, wasn’t sure if she would approve of Knox marking me.
“I did.” I replied hesitantly and waited to hear what she would say next.
“Good. He’ll take care of you. I feel better knowing you’re here with him.” She added and I instantly felt relieved, for some reason I wanted her approval.
“Awwww… Is Mama B warming up to the big bad Alpha?” I teased and heard a defeated sigh leave her lips.
“It turns out he’s not that bad after all. I can admit it when I’m wrong and I was definitely wrong about him.” She replied, but her facial expression was still hard.
“Why do you hate Alphas so badly?“ I couldn’t help but ask the question, my curiosity got the better of me.
“Have a seat dear and I’ll tell you. Would you like a cup of tea?” She asked and motioned to a small round dinner table beside the kitchen.
“Sure, I would love a cup of tea.” I replied with a grateful smile.
Betty went into the kitchen, while I took a seat at the table. A few minutes later she joined me with two mugs full of steamy tea. She handed me one before sitting down across from me.
“I think I told you this already, but Tom and I came from the same pack that Max was from, Alpha Alec’s pack.” She started and I simply nodded for her to continue.
“Well actually, that was Tom’s pack, I only joined after we met. You see, we didn’t actually meet until we were in our late 30’s. We had our daughter, Lilly, when I turned 40. She would have only been a few years older than you.” She continued.
“I never liked the Alpha or the ranked members of that pack, they were cruel and arrogant. They always treated the lower ranked members like crap. We did our best to stay out of their way and we kept mostly to ourselves. Everything was fine until Lilly turned 19 and one of the ranked members took a liking to her. She seemed happy at first and would spend a lot of time at the pack house. I disapproved of her having a relationship with someone other than her fated mate, but she wouldn’t listen to me.” Betty added and paused before continuing.
“She started spending more and more time at the park house until one day she stopped coming home all together. I got worried and went to the pack house to see her, only to be turned away by Alpha Alec. I finally managed to sneak in one day when I knew the ranked members were in a meeting and found Lilly in the kitchen. She was skittish with me, I had never seen her act like that. She almost seemed paranoid. I knew something was up, but she wouldn’t tell me anything.” Betty explained and now I could see the tears forming in her eyes.
“You don’t have to continue, Betty.” I reassured her, while gently squeezing her hand that sat on the table.
“It’s ok dear, I want you know. Maybe that will explain why I was so hard on Knox.” She replied with a soft smile that didn’t reach her eyes.
“Anyway, I tried to bring her home that day, but she refused to come with me. I could see the fear in her eyes and I didn’t understand it. I ended up leaving her there and we never saw her again. I should have never left her. I knew something was up and didn’t fight hard enough to save my own daughter.” Betty said bitterly and I could see how much she blamed herself for what happened.
“What happened to her?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
“The next day, Alpha Alec came to inform us that she had been attacked and killed by rogues. He said that she wandered off the territory and got ambushed. I knew he was lying, Lilly was never stupid enough to leave the territory by herself. I don’t believe rogues killed her, I think him and his men did.” She replied and her voice was now laced with venom.
“That day Tom and I left his territory and became rogues. We both blamed ourselves for what happened. We were her parents and we failed to protecting her.” She added and now the tears were pouring freely down her cheeks.
“I’m so sorry Betty, but you can’t blame yourself. You didn’t know what was going on. We both know what would have happened if you had forcefully taken Lilly, you’d also be dead. Alpha Alec was the one who failed, his job was to protect his people, not hurt them. That man needs to pay for what he’s done.” I replied, before standing from my seat and wrapping my arms around Betty in a comforting hug.
“Thank you Chloe, it’s not easy talking about what happened. I miss her dearly.” Betty said in between sobs.
“That’s understandable, just know I’m here if you need to talk.” I told her and she smiled gratefully.
“Betty, can you bring me a glass of water?” I heard Tom’s voice ask from the other room. Betty let out a sigh and quickly recomposed herself.
“I better bring him some water before he tries to get it himself. The man is incapable of resting. The doctor told him to stay in bed for a few more days and he won’t listen.” Betty said with a disapproving look on her face.
“Ive got chains if you need to chain him down.” I joked and she chuckled.
“Let’s go bring him that water, he’ll be so happy to see you.” Betty said while wiping her tear stained cheeks.
She grabbed a glass of water and we made our way into the other room. It was a small living room and I immediately noticed Tom laying on the couch.
“You’re suppose to be in bed resting, not on the couch.” Betty scolded.
“What’s the difference? I’m laying down aren’t I?” He argued.
“Stubborn a*s man.” She grumbled, before handing him the glass of water.
“Thank you, my love.” He added, before blowing her a k**s. She responded with a disapproving glare, making me chuckle.
“Chloe, I’m glad to see you. I’ve missed you.” Tom stated when he noticed me standing behind Betty.
“I missed you too, Tom. How are you feeling?” I asked, while leaning down and giving him a gentle hug.
“Way better, this bed rest really isn’t necessary anymore.” He stated, earning him a growl from Betty.
“Settle down tiger, I said it’s not necessary, I didn’t say I wasn’t going to do it.” He chuckled and I couldn’t help but chuckle with him. Betty on the other hand didn’t seem amused.
“I see that Alpha Knox finally proved himself worthy.” Tom stated, while motioning towards the fresh mark on my neck.
“He did.” I replied softly.
“I’m glad you let him in, Chloe, he’s one of the good guys.” Tom said truthfully. I had to agree with him, Knox was definitely one of the good guys.
I’m glad that Betty and Tom approved of Knox. I hope that when we’re their age our relationship is as strong as theirs.
