Saving His Feral Mate
Chapter 78: Luna Ceremony

Chloe POV

Tonight was my Luna ceremony. I still wasn’t sure how I felt about it. Of course I wanted to be Knox’s Luna, I just didn’t like the circumstances that were causing the rush. I wish we could have had the ceremony and celebration all at once, but that wasn’t the case.

I really wanted everything to go smoothly and hopefully in a few days, Cameron would be out of the picture for good. We needed that, there was no way I would ever feel at peace while that a*****e was still alive. My thoughts were interrupted when there was a knock at my bedroom door.

“Come in.” I announced.

The door opened and Max, Tessa and Connie came in. Connie was holding a bottle of champagne, while Tessa carried four glasses.

“We’ve come to help you get ready.” Connie said excitedly, before popping the cork on the bottle of champagne.

Connie was wearing a beautiful teal coloured dress that ended just above her knees and her hair was done up in a high bun. Tessa had on a strapless, floor length, gold dress and half her hair was pinned up, the other half flowed down her back. Max was wearing a black dress that ended mid thigh and it had spaghetti straps. Her hair was in a braid and it hung over her shoulder.

“Are you wearing this?” Max asked in a disapproving tone, while pointing to the dress I had laid out on the bed. It was a simple knee length, black dress with short sleeves.

“Ya, what’s wrong with it?” I asked with a frown.

“Nothing, if you’re 80.” Max replied sarcastically, before disappearing into the walk-in closet with the dress.

“Are you nervous?” Connie asked as she handed me a glass.

“A little bit, everything feels off. I don’t feel like it’s the right time for a ceremony.” I said truthfully.

“I know the circumstances aren’t ideal, but they’re right you know, the pack needs a Luna.” Connie replied with a pointed look.

“I know, it makes sense why Knox wants to hold it right away, it just feels wrong.” I said and Connie gave me a sad smile.

“Nothings going to happen to Knox. He just wants to be prepared.” She reassured me and I gave her a small smile. I still couldn’t help but worry.

“This is what you’re going to wear.” Max said excited as she walked out of the closet holding a burgundy coloured dress in her hands. It was pretty, but much fancier than I was going for. It was floor length, strapless and made of silk.

“That seems a little fancy for tonight, don’t you think?” I asked skeptically.

“Nonsense dear, you only get one Luna ceremony so make it count.” Connie replied.

“I think it’s beautiful.” Tessa added before she took a sip of her champagne.

I let out a heavy sigh before taking the dress from Max’s hands. For a woman who prefers to walk about naked, she’s quite opinionated when it came to what I wore.

I went into the bathroom and quickly slipped on the dress. I had to admit, it was a beautiful dress. It hugged my body in all the right places.

Once I was dressed, I put on some light makeup which included a little mascara and some clear l*p gloss.

When I walked back into the room and Max immediately started cat calling me.

“Damn girl, you clean up nicely.” She said and I chuckled.

“It’s true, you look like a Luna in that dress.” Connie added.

“Absolutely beautiful.” Tessa said.

“Thanks guys.” I replied softly.

“Shall we head downstairs? The guys are probably getting impatient.” Connie suggested and we all nodded.

We left my room and headed downstairs. As soon as we reached the last set of stairs, I saw Knox, Jo, Jag and my father standing at the bottom. It didn’t take long before all eyes were on us.

“Wow, you look stunning, Chloe.” Knox stated when I reached the last step. He quickly grabbed ahold of me and bent down to give me a k**s.

“Thank you, you don’t look so bad yourself.” I replied with a smile. He did look handsome, he was wearing a dark grey suit with a white button up shirt underneath.

We made our way into the dinner hall where the ceremony was being held. The room was already full with pack members. The atmosphere was tense, I could tell that everyone was worried about what was coming. Knox had made an announcement earlier in the day to make sure his pack was aware of everything going on. He wanted his pack to be prepared in the event of an attack.

“Are you ready?” Knox asked and I nodded my head.

Nothing about this ceremony felt right. Everyone was on edge and the mood was very serious.

Knox grabbed my hand and led me to the stage that was located at the front of the room. One of the pack elders, Martin, was waiting there for us.

“Good evening Luna, Alpha.” He greeted with a respectful nod.

“Martin, thanks for agreeing to do this in such short notice.” Knox replied.

“It’s not problem at all. Are you ready to begin?” He asked and Knox and I both nodded.

“Can I have everyone’s attention please. The ceremony is about to begin.” Martin announced and the room went quiet.

“Alpha Knox, I will begin with you. Do you accept Chloe as your mate and Luna?” Martin asked.

“I do.” Knox replied confidently.

“And you Chloe, do you accept Knox as your mate and Alpha?” Martin asked, turning his attention to me.

“I do.” I replied.

“Do you swear your loyalty to this pack and Alpha Knox?” He asked.

“I do.” I replied.

“Do you promise to protect the pack until the day you die?” He asked.

“I do.” I replied.

“Please Alpha, take this dagger and make a small cut on your palm. I only need a few drops of your b***d in this goblet.” Martin instructed and handed Knox the dagger.

Once Knox had cut his palm and let a few drops fall into the goblet, he handed me the dagger.

“Luna, I need a few drops of your b***d too.” Martin stated and I nodded my head before making a small cut on my palm. It stung for a second, but the pain quickly went away. I squeezed my palm over the glass and watched three drops fall into it.

Now Luna, whenever you’re ready, drink this.” Martin instructed as he handed me the glass.

I took a deep breath and brought the goblet to my lips before drinking the content. I was expecting it to taste awful and coppery, but it didn’t. It actually had a note of sweetness to it.

“Chloe, I now pronounce you as the official Luna of this pack.” Martin announced and the room erupted in applause.

“Congratulations Luna.” Martin stated with a genuine smile.

“Thank you.” I replied with my own small smile.

“You’re officially mine now.” Knox said playfully before leaning down and kissing me. The crowd once again started cheering and whistling at us, making me blush in embarrassment.

“Shall we go chat with your pack mates?” Knox asked and I nodded.

We weren’t having a party tonight, but we could at least spend some time with our pack members. They were all very anxious to get to know their Luna better.

We spent an hour mingling with everyone. If I was being honest, I wasn’t really in the mindset for small talk. I was worried about tomorrow and a few times Knox had to get my attention because I had drifted off deep in thought.

“You ok?” Knox asked.

“Ya, just thinking about tomorrow.” I replied.

“It’s going to be ok, Chloe. I promise.” Knox reassured, but it didn’t really help settle my nerves. I don’t think anything could until this war was finally behind us.

“Just make sure you come back to me, ok?” I pleaded and he smiled softly.

“Of course, no one can bring this beast down.” He teased and I smacked his chest. I knew he was trying to make me feel better, but I could still see the concern in his eyes. He was worried about the future too.

“Luna, congratulations.” I heard Connie’s voice and turned to replace her walking towards us. Her arm was hooked with my father’s. Interesting, I thought to myself.

“Congratulations, sweetheart.” My father added with a proud smile.

“Thank you.” I replied to the both of them.

“I’m sorry to talk business tonight, but it’s important. I spoke with Victor a few minutes ago, his men will be arriving first thing in the morning.” My father stated.

“Good, thanks for the the update.” Knox said with a nod.

“I think we’re going to call it a night. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow.” Knox stated.

“Yes, get some rest. We need you at your best tomorrow.” Connie said before hugging her son.

“We’ll see you guys in the morning.” My father added, before giving me a hug and shaking Knox’s hand.

Once we were done saying our goodbyes, Knox and I made up to our room. Tonight should have been a happy one, but something in my gut wasn’t sitting right.

“Try not to stress my love, everything’s going to be ok.” Knox stated and I let out a heavy sigh.

“I can’t help but worry, Knox. Cameron is sneaky and a coward, he’ll do anything to win.” I replied, as Knox unzipped the back of my dress.

“Ya, but we have the numbers, he doesn’t stand a chance against us. If he fights, we take him and all his loyal followers out.” Knox said confidently.

“I really wish you would let me come.” I said with a sigh.

“Our pack needs you here. You know it’s for the best.” He replied before leaning down and kissing my neck.

“Just make sure you come home to me or I’ll be pissed at you.” I said pointedly and he chuckled.

“I will my love, the last thing I want is you mad at me.” He replied before kissing my cheek. He was trying to act calm for my benefit, but I could read right through him. He was also anxious about what was coming.

We climbed into bed and Knox immediately wrapped his strong arms around me. I laid there silently enjoying his warm embrace. I was tired but my mind was running a mile a minute. I couldn’t shut my brain off no matter how hard I tried. I knew Knox was having the same problem by how erratic his heartbeat was.

We just found each other, I wasn’t ready to lose him. Please moon goddess, look after us. I silently prayed.
