Chapter 318.1
Chapter 318.1 Hero Saves Beauty(1)
Emily had just stepped out of the jewelry store when she caught sight of a familiar figure.
She turned her head to get a better look, but the person had already disappeared into a nearby. storefront.
Emily raised her eyes and looked at the plaque on the front of the store. It was a bar.
Had Imogen gone to that bar?
Emily took a few steps closer and saw Imogen’s car.
With a dark light flashing in her eyes, she took out her cell phone and dialed a number.
Inside the bar, it was still daytime, and there weren’t many people around.
A few employees were busy moving boxes in and out, stocking supplies, and replenishing the bar’s inventory.
The bartender was also restocking the bar with liquor.
Imogen ordered a few bottles of alcohol, found a seat, and began pouring herself a glass. She tilted her head back and took a swig.
The bitter and spicy liquid burned her throat, but it did little to alleviate her inner turmoil and pain,
She poured herself a few more glasses.
With each one, the image of her father appeared in her mind, both familiar and distant. Tears welled up in her eyes as her father’s face haunted her thoughts.
She had thought she could finally bring justice to her father’s memory.
However, the truth was nothing like what she had imagined.
Her tall and imposing father hadn’t died due to the machinations of capital but had been innocently drawn into a conspiracy unrelated to him. He had died due to the power struggle within the Marshall family, Sarah’s ambitions, and a staged kidnapping. He had died at the hands- of the very “victim” he had reached out to help.
Imogen wished her father had been killed by unscrupulous capitalists instead.
She couldn’t bear the thought of his senseless death.
Imogen lifted her glass and downed several more shots in quick succession.
Her vision blurred for a moment, and she saw a shadowy figure that resembled Troy.
She furrowed her brow, waving her hand dismissively.
What an annoying man.
Troy had been so impressive, yet he hadn’t seen through Sarah’s lies.
He had been deceived by her for so many years.
It was both pitiful and laughable.
How could the esteemed Chairman of the Marshall Group, Troy, be fooled so thoroughly? It was almost comical.
Imogen had lost track of how much she’d been drinking. Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes
were glazed.
She rarely got drunk, but tonight seemed different. Her awareness was becoming hazy.
Chapter 318.1 Hero Saves Beauty(1)
Three
young men entered the bar, surveying the nearly empty space.
They quickly spotted Imogen and exchanged glances before heading in her direction.
“Beauty, why are you drinking alone?” The man with a crew cut took a seat opposite Imogen, his eyes momentarily captivated by her slightly inebriated state.
The other two men, one sitting to her right and the other standing to her left.
Imogen’s reaction was a bit slow, and she lazily set her glass down. She scanned the three men and frowned slightly. “I’m sorry, but I’d like to be alone for a while. Can you please not disturb me?”
Meeting such a situation in broad daylight was vexing.
Very vexing.
“Come on, why don’t you tell us what’s bothering you? We can help you forget about it, okay?” The man spoke while casting glances at his two companions.
The other two men chimed in agreement.
