Chapter 326.1
Chapter 326.1 Angel in Disguise (1)
The rock song ended, but the men and women on the dance floor remained deeply engaged. The singer gracefully exited the stage, and behind the scenes, a mellower tune with a soothing intro began playing. The microphone was handed over to Troy.
Troy stepped onto the stage, his tall, imposing figure bathed in the spotlight. His strikingly handsome face captivated the audience’s gaze.
“Wise men say…”
His voice, both distant and filled with profound emotion, melded seamlessly with the accompanying music.
Troy was singing the song Can’t Help Falling in Love.
“Take my hand. Take my whole life, too. For I can’t help falling in love with you…”
Imogen observed the man on the stage, raising an intrigued eyebrow and capturing the moment with her phone.
It was her first time hearing Troy sing.
She knew he could play the piano, but his singing was a delightful surprise.
Initially, she had approached it with a hint of jest, but the more she listened, the more captivated she became.
“Like a river flows. Surely to the sea. Darling, so it goes. Some things, you know, are meant to
be…”
Troy’s gentle and melodious voice painted each word into Imogen’s heart.
She had once believed that if she managed her marriage well, they could stay together forever. She had been overly simplistic, too optimistic. The reality was often harsh.
He didn’t love her. No matter what she did, it seemed futile.
Their separation was inevitable.
Who could grasp the essence of love?
Even after the bitter taste of a failed marriage, the memories of youthful love remained indelible.
As the song concluded, Imogen scanned the room and noticed that many people had taken notice of the new singer on stage. They were openly discussing him.
“This singer must be new, right? He’s incredibly good–looking!”
“My word, he’s strikingly handsome. Look at that nose, so prominent and sharp. He must be quite skilled in more ways than one…”
“You, um, want to add him on Facebook? Maybe he’s an angel in disguise.”
The discussions went on.
Imogen’s mind raced with thoughts, causing a slight flush to creep into her cheek Luckily, the dim lighting in the bar concealed her embarrassment.
She shifted her gaze back to Troy, who had already left the stage and was now locking eyes with her, making his way over.
Imogen quickly halted her recording as Troy approached.
Midway, Troy was intercepted by a woman. It was unclear what she had said to him, but Troy

shook his head in response and proceeded to join Imogen.
He sat down in front of her with a slightly amused look. “How did I do on stage for the first time?” He inquired.
“It’s alright. The people next to me discussed how the new singer wasn’t all that great,” Imogen replied after sipping her drink.
“Is that so?” Troy raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah.” Imogen nodded earnestly.
She overheard some nearby patrons whispering, “He doesn’t seem to be from around here…”
“Too bad he’s got a girlfriend. I’ve got principles, you know? I don’t go after taken guys,” someone else commented.
“Maybe she’s his sister. Why don’t you go and ask?” Another suggested.
“I’m not going over there. What if they’re a couple? I’d be so embarrassed!” Another person replied.
Imogen fell into silence, feigning indifference as she casually adjusted her hair.
Troy wore a playful smile, his eyes dancing with mischief, opting not to expose her.
A hint of regret crept over Imogen. She had aimed to tease Troy, but he had transformed into a charming showstopper, drawing attention.
She placed her drink down and rose from her seat. “I’ll be right back. Need to use the restroom.” “Of course,” Troy replied.
As Imogen walked down the aisle, she spotted a familiar face in the seating area.
Wearing a bar server’s attire and carrying a tray of drinks.
Imogen was about to greet the server when another girl, not paying attention, bumped into the server from the side.
A loud crash reverberated as drinks splattered onto the floor, drenching the server and

Stepping back a few paces, the young woman examined her ruined designer outfit with disdain. It had been a gift from her aunt!
She couldn’t help but recall the impolite salesperson from the clothing store earlier in the day. She couldn’t fathom what was wrong with the service staff in New York City. They all seemed like a bunch of weirdos!
As she contemplated the situation, her anger escalated. “Could you please watch where you’re going? Do you not see where you’re walking? This outfit was worth 80 thousand dollars! Can you even afford to reimburse me for it?”
The server promptly apologized, “I’m sorry. I’m terribly sorry. If you take your clothes to the dry cleaner, I can reimburse you for the dry cleaning expenses…”
“Dry cleaning expenses? Do I need those petty expenses? I want 80 thousand dollars, not a cent less!”
The server’s face turned pale. “Please calm down…”
