Sky's Rejection
Sky’s Rejection Chapter 65

(Sky’s POV)

I need to clear my mind.

I leave the office, immediately changing into wolf form as soon as I exit the pack house. I try to block out my counterparts as much as I can, as they keep nagging me to go back to our mate. It’s not that I don’t want to be with Dimitri, my hormones shifting nonstop makes me want to be near him but right now I need a clear mind.

As I am running, my senses begin to go haywire. Why are these hormones messing with my mind?

‘Sky, I know you want to be alone to think, but we have company.’ Rain says softly to me, trying to keep me alert without snapping. May be my sense aren’t going haywire, could I really be sensing rogues?

‘Sky, we don’t have much time. There are too many rogues following us, we need to pick up the pace.’ Angel says in a panic. They aren’t wrong. s**t. I speed up my pace as I dodge through the trees, leaping over the pushes.

‘They are catching up to us.’ Angel alerts me, making me realize how much danger the pup and I are in. I make a sharp turn, allowing my counterparts into the front with me. My senses enhance as I run through the river nearby. I need to dilute my scent a little, trying to get the rogues off my tail or at least a few of them confused.

‘I sense our mate. Demon is close behind the rogues.’ Rain says in excitement. She’s right, I smell him. What is Dimitri doing out here? Wasn’t he having a meeting? Did me leaving cause him to want to come after me? I hate to be the reason for interrupting his work. The pack needed him and now I went off and screwed up. I just wanted to clear my mind and instead I got into a mess with rogues.

‘Sky, you need to focus. We need to use our sense to figure out what kind of danger we will be facing.’ Angel states calmly as I realize she is right. I take a few deep breaths, pushing all my emotions away. I need to focus. I sense seventeen…. no, wait… twenty rogues behind us. Five witches. Twelve wolves. Three vampires. What are three different rogue species running together for?

‘How did they even get on Dimitri’s land without being sensed?’ Rain asked, as her focus comes back to the situation at hand. She has a point. Could someone in the pack be helping them? We did a thorough search after the last traitor; how could they have slipped by?

‘It is possible the witches covered their tracks.’ Rain started. Right now, I think we need to focus on the problem at hand. Getting away from these rogues.

“Ouch,” I whined. While lost in thought, something heavy knocked me off my feet. Twenty – one rogues. It seems a wolf jumped out of a tree, knocking me off my feet. I skid across the ground, ramming into a tree. My body forcefully changed back into my human form as I g***n in pain and annoyance. How did I not see that coming? It was a set – up, they trapped me in this area.

“Well, well, well… Seems as if the little hybrid isn’t as strong as others thought she was. It’s a shame really, I thought you would have put up a better fight.” A witch with black hair snickered, as she held up her hand to stop the wolf from running towards me. “Not yet my little pet, she needs to understand why her death must happen.”

Pet? So, she must be in charge of these rogues. Did she say death? Why does she need me dead? What have I done to her?

“You must be confused. Little Sky, I knew your parents. They swore you were not a hybrid, but I could taste their fear every time anyone asked about you. Can you believe it, even on their last dying breath they swore you were not a hybrid. Rubbish, LIES. You see my little dear, I killed your parents. I tortured them, made them suffer, just to get the truth. No matter what I did, they wouldn’t budge. Now look at you, the Queen of wolves, mated to the great Dimitri, and shocker, a hybrid. I had no doubt, but my leader wanted confirmation. I have been watching you for a long time. What a ruckus you have caused this world. A rejected mate, pulling a council member from his duties to protect you, trying to reject your royal mate, causing innocents to be taken and killed for you, being kidnapped and sending the wolves into a mess to save you. Tsk.” The black – haired witch cackled as if my life story was amusing to her.

How long has she been watching me?

‘Mate is close, just hold on Sky.’ Angel says softly, as if her voice will break out into the quiet night around us.

“Sorry, got off track there. As I was saying, my leader needed confirmation and now that I have confirmation our orders are to kill.” The witch laughed as if this information was exactly what she has wanted to do her whole life. What have I ever done to her or her leader? “See, there was a prophecy about how a hybrid will produce a special thing, no one knows exactly what it is, that will keep our world from falling apart. Something that will stop the great war my leader has put into play for so long now. We can’t have you ruining all of my leader’s hard work, now, can we?”

“WOLVES.” The witch yelled into the quiet forest, I almost forgot she came with twenty other rogues. All of a sudden, all thirteen wolves ran towards me. Within seconds I felt their claws digging through my skin, their teeth shredding chunks of my skin off my body. I felt as if I was being torn apart over and over again. The agony was paralyzing me.

‘The witch must have paralyzed us, not the pain. We have to focus and break her hold. You are stronger Sky. We are stronger.’ Rain said as Angel agreed with her. I needed to focus, I closed my eyes as I began to block out the pain, block out the smell of my b***d. Focus.

‘Do you feel that?’ Angel asked as I smiled in happiness. Yes, I feel that. I opened my eyes, as I saw the red angry line connecting me to the witch. I need to break this. With my mind I focused on the line, as I snapped the connection, reversing it on her own self.

“WHAT DID YOU DO? I CAN’T MOVE.” The witch screamed in anger. “STOP THIS.”

The four remaining witches circled around the black haired one, their leader. The four witches ended up paralyzed to the ground, but their leader could now move. s**t.

“I am smarter and stronger than you little hybrid. Stop playing games and KILL HER.” The witch said with a smirk on her face. The vampires charged in to assist the wolves as they began to bite me. My skin burned from their venom. Heat spread through me as I felt my b***d picking up pace, trying to fight off the venom being injected into me.

‘Time to fight back, mate is still too far away. We will die if we let this continue.’ Rain said with encouragement, pushing me to not give up. What if it hurts our pup though?

‘Doing nothing will hurt our pup more.’ Angel said as I felt her sadness seep through me. I realize now, she is as scared as I am. She knows if we keep taking this, our body won’t survive, essentially killing the pup. Though, if we fight back, the power we exert can also harm the pup. We don’t actually know how much energy could be drained from the pup, I just never wanted to replace out.

“She has given up, finish her`. NOW.” The witch encourages the vampires and wolves as she laughs in enjoyment.

‘Do something Sky.’ Rain begged as I felt her recede into the back of my mind.

‘Please, Sky. We have to protect our pup.’ Angel pleaded as she joined Rain, as if they thought I was giving up or unable to do anything at this point.

I slowly pull myself up, between the bites, scraping and burning floating over every part of my body. My legs shake, ready to give up on supporting my weight. All I hear is the teeth and nails tearing my skin apart, the cackling of victory and enjoyment by the witches as they celebrate my death without even realizing I wasn’t going down without a fight. They took the weak way out, paralyzing me as they had sixteen rogues tear me to shreds. What they don’t get is that I have never gone down that easily. If she had watched me since day one, she would know this but instead she only knows snip bits of my life. I will survive this just like everything else I have been through, and I won’t let any harm come to my pup. I place a protective orb around the fetus as I focus solely on the rogues around me.

First step, getting away from these hideous beings. I create a red barrier around each and every one of them as I float them into the sky.

“What is going on? I demand you to release us at once you… you, filthy hybrid.” The witch with black hair screeched as she finally realized what was occurring. I bet her throat was glad to be taking a break from all that horrendous cackling she couldn’t control.

Demand me? She must be out of her mind. I have never succumbed to an Alpha or King’s order what makes her think I would listen to her? Her idea doesn’t hurt though. As soon as they reached two hundred feet off of the ground, I released my hold on them. I watched as the thirteen wolves cracked their necks on impacted, immediately dying. The four witches didn’t catch their selves in time as they g*****d in pain. I immediately set them on fire, leaving piles of ashes in the field. The three vampires broke several bones as they thrashed around in agony. I ran at each one of them, separating their heads from their bodies.

“Shit.” The witch murmured, as it was only her and I left. I threw a dagger straight at her heart. It embedded itself into a tree, as she shimmered away before impact.

I fell to the ground, the b***d loss finally hitting me as my adrenaline wears off.

‘Good job Sky, rest, we have you.’ Angel and Rain assured me as they soothed me to sleep. Rest, that is all I need right now. We will be okay pup, I promise. Mommy will never allow harm to you.

I felt Dimitri’s presence, but I couldn’t open my eyes to see him. I couldn’t reassure him that I was okay. All I know is that for right now I was safe. The pup was safe. Our pack was safe.
