[Arissa’'s POV]

I sat alone, looking around the room I was currently trapped in. The place was all too familiar and Ihad to fight back the memories that wanted to come forward thanks to the reminder.

This was the place where my life ended, and now it was the place I was stuck in again.

Looking down, I took in the cuffs that were clamped tightly around my wrists, so tight they cut intomy flesh that was attempting to heal around them. This wasn't good. I needed to figure out whobrought me here and why. Once I knew that, I would have figured out a way to escape.

As of now, I needed to bide my time since my energy was still depleted. It seemed that despite myattempts to keep my secret from my enemies, my grandfather had managed to figure it out.Sighing, I relaxed a little and fixed my gaze on the iron door ahead. For right now, the breedinghouse was empty since there wouldn't be another blood moon for a month. That meant there wasno one here to help me. By this point, I could only hope that nothing would happen until I was backto my normal self. However, I had a feeling that I wouldn't be so lucky.

Just as this thought hit me, the lock on my door began to rattle, and then the door itself slowlystarted to open.

Tensing, I prepared myself for whoever was to walk through it, because I knew that no matter who itwas, they were up to no good.

As the door continued to open and the person behind it came into view, I felt my heart plummet. With wide eyes, I took in the last person I expected to ever see again. After all, I had witnessed hisdeath with my own eyes.

"G-Gillian," I gasped, feeling like I was seeing a ghost in the flesh. "How is this possible?"

"Shocked to see me?” Gillian smirked. "Are you disappointed that I'm not dead?"

Was I disappointed? Of course, I was disappointed! This bastard didn’t deserve to continue to walkthis earth. Not to mention, because everyone was so convinced that he was dead, I had spent twomonths in prison waiting for my end.

"How are you here?" I asked slowly, trying to calm my racing heart. "I watched you die."

"I helped him."

Feeling all the warmth seep from within me, I watched Ivan's father stroll forward with a grin oftriumph on his face.

"Luckily, I have a deal with the hunters.” He began slowly closing the distance between us. "Theybrought Gillian to me so that I could treat his wounds.”

It felt like the world around me was slowly beginning to fall apart. How was it possible that I hadmanaged to be drawn and used in this conspiracy? Wasn't it bad enough that I was thrown into acamp to fight and kill to survive and then used as a tool to make an unstoppable heir? It was all toomuch, and I could feel my sanity beginning to waver.

"Oh, don't look like that.” Gillian purred, kneeling down in front of me. "I promise that once I'mdone with you, you will be begging for my attention.”

"In your dreams.” I hissed as he touched my cheek.

Jerking, I snapped at his fingers while he fell backwards from shock. Letting a laugh escape me, Itook joy in how he looked sprawled out on the floor.

"You bitch." He growled, getting to his feet and reaching out.

A gasp escaped me as his fingers wrapped around my throat and began to squeeze. He applied justenough pressure to make it difficult to breath, but not impossible.

"The first thing I'm going to do is teach you obedience.” He growled, releasing some of his aura soit pressed uncomfortably against my skin.

Fuck, it seemed that thanks to his father's damn mark, I was suseptible to his commands as well."You... can... try." I growled through clenched teeth.

There was no way in hell that I was going to obey a bastard like him.

"Just wait." He laughed, releasing me and stepping back.

Coughing, I watched as he moved to stand beside Ivan's father. Both men watched me with facesfilled with amusement and hunger. It seemed that the apple didn't fall too far from the tree in thisfamily.

"Is your dad aware that you're alive?" I asked. I knew that it really didn’t concern me, but I couldn'thelp but ask.

"That bastard doesn't deserve to know." Gillian growled, catching me by surprise.

"Oh ho," I laughed, realizing that I had just discovered something fun. "Did Daddy Dearest abandonyou to die?"

Surging forward, Gillian let his fist connect with my cheek, sending me crashing into the headboardof the bed I was sitting in.

Lifting my head, I turned to meet his enraged gaze as a cackle of glee escaped me.

"Hahaha!" This was truly too good. "Despite playing the grieving father, it seems he didn't evenattempt to try to salvage your dead carcass. This is truly too good. "

Letting a snarl escape him, Gillian punched me again and again as I continued to laugh. From thestrength of his hits, I knew that I had hit the mark. Good, let him suffer and know that even hisfather didn't give a damn about him! It seemed that both of us were nothing more than tools forhim from the start.

"That's enough.” Ivan's father murmured, placing a hand on Gillian’s shoulder. "If you kill her, wewon't be able to go forth with our plan."

"Plan?" I coughed, spitting out the blood that had begun to fill my mouth. "What plan is this?""You'll see soon enough.” Gillian smirked. "For now, why don't you just get comfortable? After all, you're going to be here for a long time. *

Turning, Gillian and Ivan’s father strolled out of the room, leaving me alone and drowning in painfrom the beating I had just endured.

Shit, I didn't have a good feeling about what they had planned. It seemed that I needed to figureout how to escape sooner rather than later. But first, I needed to heal. Otherwise, I wouldn't be anygood at all.

Closing my eyes, I tried to ignore the agony that was ripping through me.

"Come replace me, idiot." I murmured, curling into a ball and letting a single tear slip down my face."Quickly."
