Chapter 18

At night, inside the Luxford residence, Yvette sat on the bed with her legs crossed, wearing only a thin slip dress.

The windows on the balcony were closed, and the air-conditioner was blowing cool air inside the room.

She held a used lipstick in her hand and was casually drawing on Joshua’s face..

The man lying on the bed stayed very still and allowed her to do as she pleased.

“I thought my life would become miserable following the Towell family’s bankruptcy, so I was reluctant to throw this lipstick away. Little did I expect to marry into the Luxford family.” She leaned forward and breathed gently into his car, Caressing the skin on his face, she chuckled. “Your mother gave me a card with money to spend, so I bought ten similar lipsticks.”

That was why she could behave so carefreely again. “I think it’s a waste to throw this used lipstick away, so I’m letting you use it. Hmm… You’re looking pale. I’ll rouge your cheeks first before helping you to apply some eye shadow. Lastly, we’ll put this lipstick on your lips. Should I draw a tortoise on your cheeks too?”

Yvette entertained herself to her heart’s content on the bed. She stared at Joshua and asked solemnly, “I’ll assume that you agree to my suggestion if you do not say anything after I count to three One, two, three. All right. You’ve agreed. Let’s draw a tiny tortoise on your face now.”

She knew Joshua would not object even if she counted to three thousand. Yvette smiled smugly. Then, she lay on him without considering the possibility that she would suffocate him in that position.

She was not w

worried about exposing parts of her body or that Joshua would wake up and take revenge on her.

While drawing on his face, Yvette could not help but mutter. There are a lot of other students at the school who made fun of me. I felt sad and uncomfortable because of the way they were judging me. Joshua, do you know? They thought my life would turn miserable after my family went bankrupt, so they were all waiting for a chance to mock me. But those people. were shocked to their cores when they saw the Luxford family’s car picking me up from school today. How do you think they will reart when they see me tomorrow? I suppose they will look at me more contemptuously if they know I am married to a comatose person from the Luxford family. Will you wake up, Joshua Luxlord?”

She snuggled into his arms while continuing her rant as if he was a

sa giant teddy bear she could rest on

“Actually, it is quite nice to be able to talk to you this way. Maybe you should stay unconscious for a little longer. Why am I not scared of you when you’re in such a state? Is it because we’ve spent some time sleeping next to each other?”

Yvette needed someone she could confide in. Joshua, who was in a coma, had come into her life at the right time.

In her opinion, having someone alive who could listen to her yet would never reveal her secrets made her feel mure secure.

They shared a peaceful night. Despite the hot and dry fall weather in September outside the house, the couple slept. comfortably inside the room with air-conditioning turned on. Unobserved by others, Joshua’s finger seemed to have twitched a little in the middle of the night.

“Oh my! What have you done, Yvette!”

Lauren’s shriek awakened Yvette, who was sleeping soundly. Yvette pushed herself up from the bed with slight difficulty. She sat on the bed and rubbed her eyes, greeting Lauren groggily, “Good morning, Mom.”

Looking at Yvette, who was in a daze, with her nightgown partially off, revealing parts of her body and her long hair strewn on her shoulder, Lauren merely felt frustrated despite that alluring sight.

She growled, “What’s wrong with you, Yvette? Look at what you’ve done to Joshual”
