Sweet Subterfuge By Trina Duo Chapter 570
Chapter 570
Blue Star Shipping was a famous multinational shipping company with a history of nearly thirty years since Gary had established the company.
They had their own anchoring points and warehouses in almost every port city in the world, making the company an indispensable part of international trade.
Despite his humble background and limited education, Gary had exceptionally clear principles and boundaries. He would never engage in any illegal business or activities.
In the whole process of transporting goods, he placed utmost importance on the inspection of cargo and it was the part that was under the most scrutiny as well.
It was unheard of for any incidences of smuggling or transportation of prohibited goods to occur within Blue Star Shipping.
It was said that a major drug lord had once approached Gary before, offering him a commission of over a hundred million dollars to partner up and smuggle drugs overseas, but his proposal was decisively rejected.
Gary’s integrity was praised worldwide. Coupled with the fact that Blue Star Shipping was never involved in any scandals, customs authorities in many countries had assigned the green circuit to Blue Star Shipping, allowing them to have faster custom clearance and were less stringent with them compared to other companies.
Cody probably saw this as an opportunity and approached Gary to ship his goods, using the pretext of importing maternal and baby supplies into supermarkets run by the Soaring Corporation.
What’s more, he even presented distribution contracts signed with several intant product companies overseas.
These companies were internationally recognized and many of them had previously worked with Blue Star Shipping as well. Gary had no reason to suspect Cody and signed the collaboration agreement readily after negotiating the terms.
The day after the agreement was signed, Cody called for an urgent shipment of formula milk powder from Aldovia to Caldor.
Imported milk powder was always in high demand. Some famous brands would even be sold out as soon as they hit the shelves, as eager mothers would rush to stock up.
The batch of mik powder that Cody planned to ship in was one of the most sought-after among the other brands. Within Calder, the brand was almost always out of stock, so Cody’s urgency in bringing in the shipment didn’t seem out of place.
Since Soaring Corporation had a significant influence in Caldor, Gary naturally had to establish a good relationship with large enterprises like them as he planned to shift the company’s focus back to his home country.
Therefore, Gary had specifically given the order to bring forward Cody’s goods and ship them into Caldor as soon as possible.
When Lewis called the person in charge, the ship carrying Cody’s goods was already out at sea. If he received the news a few days later.
the ship would likely have reached Caldor by then.
Lewis shouted his instructions into the phone anxiously, “Make the ship turn back right now, this instant! Turn back!”
His voice was so loud that it echoed in the empty and deserted stairwell.
The person on the other end of the call must have said something to annoy Lewis, making the expression of displeasure on Lewis’s face
more apparent.
“Even if there are other shipments on board, the ship must retreall i made myself clear, there are prohibited goods on that ship! Prohibited goods! Can’t you understand me? Do you want to get caught by the customs authorities in Caldor, ruining the entire company’s reputation?
“Alright, that’s all. Report to me immediately if anything happens.”
Lewis hung up, still in a temper.
Taking a deep breath to regain his composure, he spoke to Kevan calmly, “I have ordered the ship to turn back. Our statt will thoroughly inspect the shipment from Soaring Corporation to see if there are any prohibited goods. Mr. Rogers, I believe that you are a principled man and you won’t involve others in your personal grudge against Cody.”
“Of course. If the information that I provided was wrong, I am willing to compensale your company for any losses that may occur. Kevan reassured him with a smile.
Lew’s smirked as well. “Thank you for understanding, Mr. Rogers. I will inform Mr. Logan about this matter, however he paused, somewhat puzzled, “il Cody is really involved in drug trafficking, wouldn’t it be better for you to catch him in the act when he receives the
prohibited goods?”
Drug trafficking was considered a serious crime in Caldor. With such a large quantity of smuggled goods, it would be enough for Cody to
get the death sentence.
Lewis was certain that this was the true outcome that Kevan was aiming for.
