Larissa took the empty glass from him, and knelt on the sola, placing her thumbs on his temple as he gently massaged in circles. She leaned slightly towards him, her elbow resting against the back of the sofa to avoid falling onto him. Kevan kept his eyes open, staring straight at her.

His gaze was too intense, and Larissa couldn't ignore it. She forced a dry smile and asked him.' What are you looking at?"

Kevan didn't show any guilt for being caught, instead, he replied honestly, "I'm looking at you.”

Larissa's face flushed red and she asked, "Why are you looking at me?"

"Because you're beautiful," Kevan answered without hesitation.

Larissa was surprised, and her hands paused for a moment. She cautiously lowered her head to meet his gaze. His deep eyes were bright and seemed somewhat innocent, like a naive child. The corners of his lips curved into a smile, but it wasn't his usual mocking smirk. Combined with his gaze, it appeared incredibly pure and innocent. Larissa was startled to think of him in that light. She had never associated him with those words, yet now there was no better way to describe him.

"You're so beautiful, Larissa! You're the most stunning woman in this world Kevan smiled, squinting at her. He reached up and caressed her cheek, his tone innocent and tender.

Larissa felt as if she had been struck by lightning. After a brief moment, her head was running wild, and she thought, "Is he possessed? Had he drunk too much and lost his senses? Is he trying to tease me?" She tried to calm herself and smiled in response. Thank you. You're pretty good-looking yourself."

She meant it as a joke or merely trying to flatter him, but Kevan took it seriously, and asked, "Am 17

Larissa pondered for a moment, then complimented him, saying, "You have a pair of deep-set eyes, thick eyebrows, long lashes, a straight nose, thin lips, and soft skin. You're tall with looks comparable to a model's-no-you look even better than a model!"

Her compliments clearly delighted Kevan as his smile broadened widely, and his eyes twi nkled, like stars in the sky. Larissa couldn't help but get lost in his gaze.

"If I'm so good-looking, do you like me?" Kevan's fingers caressed her face, his voice enticingly charming

Larissa nodded, bewitched. "Of course, I do."

Who wouldn't be attracted by his good looks?

"Then why don't you want me?" Kevan's smile quickly faded, his thin lips pursed into a straight line, and the light in his eyes vanished, devoid of any emotion but sadness. "When have I ever done that? Larissa was dumbfounded by his accusation

But soon she realized that he wasn't talking about her. He was probably referring to the woman he kept mumbling about in his dreams at Starkville Hotel

For some reason, Larissa felt slightly bitter inside; she didn't know if it was because she felt sorry

for him or for other reasons

"You would rather sever ties with your family than marry me," Kevan accused her angrily.

Larissa felt like this story sounded familiar. If her fiancé back then hadn't been an old geezer, even she would have believed the story he was spewing Now Larissa was certain that Kevan was drunk

She tried to comfort him like a child, saying, "Why would I do that? I could never bear to leave you

I just don't want my entire life to be in the hands of that family"
