Chapter 199
Chapter

Larissa had no idea what act Yvette was putting on this time.
Even if she had to sleep separately from Xavier due to her illness, there were enough rooms on the second floor. There was no need for her to stay on the third floor.
Feeling uneasy, Larissa climbed up the stairs slowly to the third floor and walked along the corridor.
Nearing the end, she saw a door that was slightly ajar.
Voices could be heard from inside the room.
'Mom, Dad said he will bring Larissa home. Don't worry about it!"
*Your sister has such a stubborn temper. Even if your dad intervenes, it's not guaranteed that he can persuade her ...
'It can't be. Larissa will definitely come back once she realizes how serious your illness is!"
'Nana, I really regret it
...
If only I had reconciled with your sister earlier! I don't have much time left now, in case
*Mom, please don't think about nonsense like that! As long as you follow the doctor's instructions, the symptoms of your illness can be controlled, even if the disease can't be cured. Larissa is not someone who will hold grudges, she will definitely forgive you for what you did in the past!"
Standing at the corner, Larissa listened in to their conversation for a moment. She heaved a sigh of relief, but her heart sank immediately after.
It seemed that Yvette's illness was not something Xavier had made up.
The thought of Yvette possibly not having much time left to live made Larissa anxious. Inexplicably, she dreaded facing this reality.
"Miss Larissa, why are you not going in?" Mrs. Harris, one of the household staff, appeared with a tray of fruits.
She asked out of curiosity as to why Larissa was standing motionless outside the door.
Snapping out of her thoughts, Larissa forced a smile. "I'm going in now."
Naturally, Mrs. Harris handed the tray to her. "Then, you can take this in. Mr. Seymour asked me to hand it to Madam and Miss Lana."
At that moment, the door was forcefully opened from the inside.
Lana emerged with a furious expression on her face.
'Mrs. Harris, Dad asked you to bring us the fruits, not Larissa! If you are unwilling to follow instructions, you can resign from your position right now!" Mrs. Harris had been working for the Seymour family for a long time, she practically watched Larissa and Lana grow up.
She had a clear understanding of the stark difference between both young ladies' positions in the family.
This was not the first time Mrs. Harris treated Larissa in a demeaning manner, nor the first time she did it in front of other members of the Seymour family. However, this was the first instance she got reprimanded for her disrespect to Larissa.
Mrs. Harris felt wronged, but the one criticizing her was Lana, the favored child of the Seymour family.
She didn't dare talk back or defend herself but apologized repeatedly for her mistake. "I'm sorry, Miss Lana! I didn't mean it!"
Lana sna tched the tray from Larissa's hand and returned it to Mrs. Harris. "You should apologize to Larissa, not me!"
With that, Mrs. Harris quickly turned to Larissa and said, "I'm sorry, Miss Larissa, please forgive me!"
Larissa hadn't expected Lana to reprimand Mrs. Harris because of her.
In the past, when Larissa was bullied by the household staff, Lana had always Ignored it without a second glance, even though she witnessed it a few times.

Lana had never stood up for her as she did today.
"It's fine." Larissa waved her hand.
Compared to Mrs. Harris's mistreatment, Larissa was more concerned about Lana's unusual behavior.
Previously, they clearly had a falling out at Dylan's place, so there was no reason for Lana to take her side now.
But... it was also possible that she was mistaken and thought too little about Lana's goodwill.
Lana instructed Mrs. Harris coldly, "You can leave now. Mom and I can't eat the fruits anyway. If I ever see you or anyone else mistreating Larissa again, you can go directly to Mr. Foster to settle your wages and leave."
"Yes, Miss Lana!" Trembling, Mrs. Harris carried the tray and fled.
Lana suddenly hugged Larissa's arm, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Larissa, you're finally home! I knew you would come back!" Exclaiming with joy, she pulled Larissa into the room.
