Chapter 619
This was a huge case that was enough to gain some form of meritorious credit. Kevan did Jack a favor by passing this case to him before seeking a news outlet to expose this company's abhorrent practices. Of course, his uncles' pictures also "accidentally ended up in the
news.
The exploitation of minors was a serious crime anywhere. To get the media in on this would mean that everyone would know. The netizens were so enraged by this that the govemment-in order to reassure the public-naturally treated this case seriously.
With Bernard and Felix being on the news and having their identities exposed by some other person, they became the most obvious people to target. The Rogers were a big family with several large businesses, so they had connections in many domains. But this time, no matter how many connections they tried to reach out to no matter how many multi-million-dollar gifts they sent, no one dared to stand up for them.
The government had already given the order: these two men had to be severely prosecuted.
After Gary listened to the whole story, his gaze on Kevan gained a hint of commendation. Although he did not want to admit it, Kevan was indeed someone who was worthy of Larissa out of everyone else he had seen. He would go so far as to say that Kevan would be a more suitable candidate to succeed him compared to Lewis. However, he could not let Kevan know about this. Otherwise, this brat would start prancing around like a blasted peacock.
"Alright, if there's nothing else, you may go." Gary pretended to chase him off with an imitated wave of his hand. "I need to get to work." Lewis looked at his watch and spoke a little hesitantly, "Mr. Logan, it's almost time for lunch. Why don't we let Mr. Rogers join us for a meal?"
"Do you think you have time to eat lunch? Gary glared at him with displeasure. "Where is the financial report I asked from you yesterday?"
"My apologies, Mr. Logan, I have not yet finished it." Lewis was screaming internally. If he had known that he would be suffering with Kevan, he would never ever have spoken up for the guy. Kevan had no plans to stay for lunch either. He had long planned with Aster to pick him up from school today before having lunch together with him.
Aster's kindergarten was an hour's ride away from here. If he took congestion into consideration, he could catch Aster right at his school dismissal time if he set off now. After bidding goodbye to Gary and Lewis, Kevan hailed a cab and went straight to Aster's school.
The congestion in the city was not as bad as he had thought. He walled outside for a while before the kindergarten dismissed their students. As Kevan did not know which class Aster was in, he did not enter the classroom directly like the other parents but stood at the field on the bottom floor to wait for the kid.
In this school which had a majority of locals. Kevan was fairly tall among all the parents here, and his Caldorian looks were quite striking as well. Many people looked back at him several times when they passed by him, and many women would gaze at him with smitten looks.
Kevan was long since immune to the stares from others, so he ignored them and kept his gaze fixed on the staircase entrance that Aster would have to take to leave, his eyes jumping from one boy to another for lear that he would miss the kid.
After about ten minutes later, that familiar silhouette finally entered his field of vision. Kevan's stoic face gained a faint hint of a gentle smile, which made more people pause to stare at him. Aster was also looking for him too.
When their eyes locked onto each other, a huge grin split across Aster's face as his eyes it up with utmost delight.
"Daddy!" he screamed, racing toward Kevan with his short legs.
