Chapter 667

The act of unbuttoning was very difficult for her weak fingers, especially when she was holding the thermometer with one hand. Doing so with just one hand was very difficult. She tried several times, but the button seemed to be fighting with her. No matter what she did, the button refused to go through the hole.

A few minutes later, Kevan could not stand the look on her lace as she was on the verge of a breakdown. He bent down to unbutton her

nightgown for her as last as he could before quickly turning around. He stuck his hands in his pockets and stood there stiffly.

"Tell me when you're done, I'll help you check the time,"

Larissa's instincts were not sharp right now, but when his cold fingers brushed past her burning chest, it still made her body and heart shiver. Her temperature seemed to have risen up again, and she quickly looked away and locused on the thermometer.

Five minutes passed, and Kevan soon had the thermometer in his hand. He studied the Instrument carefully under the light and he frowned deeply.

"Your temperature's at 102.2" F now,"

Larissa was shocked. She guessed that she had a high fever, but she did not think it would be that high.

"Button up." Kevan put the thermometer down at the head of the bed before helping her button her nightgown.

"I'll get the doctor to come over."

The Winston Hotel had its own infirmary. The doctors were retired professors from various top hospitals in Bartham, so their medical skills were naturally very good.

The doctor gave Larissa three bottles of IV fluids. To prevent the need for aid to change the IV bottles, he had a nurse stay behind to help out. The nurse was young, and Larissa chatted with her while she got her injections. She found out that the nurse had worked in Victory General Hospital for two years and had just recently jumped ship to this hotel.

Larissa could not really understand.

The Victory General Hospital in Bartham was one of the top hospitals in the country. Every year, many medical students would do everything they could to squeeze their way into that institute. Those who were able to get in were definitely extremely skilled people.

"Isn't staying at the hospital better? Because you'd have a future then."

"Nurses aren't like doctors." The nurse smiled bitterly. "We basically just walt on other people. Our experiences in the hospitals are useless too after we leave so it's better to just replace an easier job instead of having to face all those weird patients and their families."

She proceeded to tell Larissa several weird stories, and Larissa Estened to her with great interest.

"Do you know Yvette Xander?" The nurse suddenly asked.

Larissa froze. "Yeah." Her response had a little guilt in it "Didn't she pass on because her daughter disconnected her breathing tube?" "Yeah, exactly!" The nurse was a little agitated. "I was in charge of her ward. Actually, this matter isn't as simple as the news said it is!"

"Huh?" Larissa stared at her.

"The day before the tube was disconnected. Yvette showed signs of waking up. Our department was pretty excited about it because if she really woke up, we would have witnessed a 'miracle. But no one expected her daughter to be so cruel as to disconnect her breathing tube. *The nurse sounded a little disappointed, and she seemed to pity Yvette.

"I just so happened to be on duty the day Yvette died. I was also the one who found out that she was dead during my night patrol" Her expression turned solemn as if she could not accept this fact. "I remember seeing that her face still had two tear tracks. I guess that She knew that her daughter wanted her dead, so she was sad -

The nurse sucked in a deep breath. "Yvelle's death can be considered the reason for my resignation, I guess. I hadn't been in the hospital for long, and she was the first patient I've been in charge of who didn' make it. I guess it hit me pretty hard- However, Larissa did not hear the rest of her words. Her thoughts were all locused on Yvelle's lear tracks.
