Chapter 752

After Kevan sent Aster to school he came back to the car. When he got in, his gaze drilled to Larissa, who was sitting in the backseat. She was staring blankly out the window while leaning against the door. He did not know what she was thinking about.

She seemed to be like this all the way from home as long as Aster was not talking to her.

"What's wrong?" Kevan asked her.

Larissa snapped out of it and forced a smile. "Just figured something out."

"What?" Kevan was a little stunned.

"Nothing." Larissa shook her head before changing the topic to Kevan himself. "How long are you going to stay here this time?"

"I haven't decided. Kevan started the car. He looked at her through the rearview mirror and asked, "Why?"

"Just asking." Larissa casually wrote it off before looking out the window in silence again.

Kevan shoved down all the questions in his heart, but his worry just could not disappear. When did this change in Larissa happen? Kevan tried to recall carefully. It seemed to be-

Wendy and Aster were complimenting his cooking skills in a ridiculous manner at the table during breakfast. They even compared it to Larissa's usual breakfast praising his and criticizing hers. At that time, Larissa already did not look okay.

Although she had retorted, and he had smoothed things over and helped her regain her dignity, she seemed to be still stuck on this issue. Or at least, that was what it seemed to be from her current state. "Your cooking is fine. Delicious even," Kevan suddenly said.

He skipped topics so fast that Larissa had no chance to react, "Why are you suddenly talking about this?"

"Aren't you angry?" Kevan studied her expression carefully. He then used a lighter tone to say. "Wendy and Aster were just flattering me. I never took it seriously, so you don't have to either,"

"Huh? You thought I was Larissa now only realized what he was talking about and laughed. "I wasn't angry."

This time Kevan was the confused one. "Huh?"

"I know what they're like. Larissa usually traded verbal barbs with Wendy like that. They would not get angry at each other over this. Besides, your cooking is truly better than mine." She openly admitted the skill gap between her and Kevan. "They were telling the truth."

Her words were sincere. There was no faking in it. Kevan was more confused than ever.

"Then why are you" He thought for a very long time before he managed to come up with a term. "So down?"

"I'm not down either." Larissa felt resigned. "I was just thinking."

She had just focused a little harder, struggled a little more, and got misunderstood for something else.

She had just been thinking. She said that already.

Kevan nodded in response, but he was still worried about it.

The car stopped at the building where Blue Star Shipping was.
