Sweet Subterfuge novel by Trina Duo -
Chapter 812
It was a weekday night, so many people were at the supermarket. Most of them were like Larissa. They had just finished work and were there to buy groceries for dinner.
Aster was too old to sit in the shopping cart. He held Larissa's hand and followed closely behind Kevan, who was pushing the cart in front.
Larissa rarely went to the supermarket. This chain supermarket was huge. She often felt lost whenever she entered. She had to rely on the staff's guidance to replace what she wanted. Therefore, Larissa decided to use her usual strategy and asked for help from a store employee.
However, before she could open her mouth, Aster interrupted her, "Mommy, you don't have to ask for directions! Daddy knows where everything is! He is so amazing! He memorized where everything was the first time he brought me here!" Aster's face was filled with admiration for Kevan.
Although Aster did not show any disdain for her, Larissa still felt embarrassed by his words.
She apologized to the store employee, but he wasn't offended at all. In fact, he complimented her. "Your husband is really handsome! Your son is so cute!"
"Thank you." Larissa didn't feel like explaining her relationship with Kevan to a stranger, so she chuckled awkwardly.
Unfortunately, Aster took it seriously and continued questioning her, "Mommy, is Daddy your husband?"
"Well ... " Larissa looked to Kevan, hoping he would help her out of this situation. However, he acted like it was none of his business, staring at her with the same curious look as Aster.
Larissa simply ignored Aster's question and glanced at the notes on Kevan's phone. "Let's start with buying flour."
To avoid their inquisitive questions, she walked away quickly. However, she hadn't taken two steps ahead when Kevan tugged her back by the hood of her down jacket.
He said with a wry smile, "You're going the wrong way. It's over here."
Larissa felt ashamed. "Oh."
After that, Kevan never let go of her hand by giving a reasonable excuse. "What if you get lost walking around on your own?"
Larissa, who had gotten lost countless times before, sighed. "Fine."
With Kevan as their navigator, Larissa's time in the supermarket was cut by more than half the usual time she spent wandering around. They gathered all the items they needed and filled up two large shopping bags.
Kevan loaded the shopping bags into the car. Aster clapped his hands and cheered him on, throwing in some flattery as well.
For the past few days, Larissa had heard too much of Aster's praises that she had grown numb. She couldn't muster up the energy to even be jealous anymore.
Because of her hectic week earlier, Wendy's work was relatively relaxed this week. She could leave work on time and return home earlier than Larissa.
When Larissa opened the door, Wendy was sitting on the sofa in her work clothes. She hadn't even removed her makeup. This was unusual as Wendy would immediately change into comfortable clothes and remove her makeup when she came home.
Staring at the screen intently, Wendy had her phone in her hand. The sweet smile on her face was a little bashful and filled with happiness.
"Alright, send me a message when you've taken off tomorrow. I'll estimate the time to pick you up at the airport."
"There's no need. I will probably arrive late at night. You should have a good rest. The other party will send a car to pick me up." A male voice rang out clearly through Wendy's phone speaker and echoed across the room.
Without a doubt, the man on the other end of the call was most likely Wendy's mysterious friend.
