In despair. Wendy slumped in the backseat and said through gritted teeth, "Alright! You brought this upon yourselves. Don't blame me if I ruin your private time later!" Wendy was going to sleep in the guest roo

troom. Before returning to her room, she reminded Larissa, "Remember to ask on my behall!"

"Okay," Larissa agreed. As soon as she turned around, her face darkened.

Kevan had been with her all this time. He noticed that something was oll. He pulled her into the nearest study. "What did Wendy ask you

to inquire aboul?

Larissa didn't hide it. "She wants to meet Edmud. She still has feelings for him

"Do you want to let her meet him? If you do. I'll arrange for it." Kevan was serious.

"No! I hope they never meet again for the rest of their Ives Larissa replied.

*She trailed off with a sigh.

Kevan smiled and said, "Alright, I need to go out later. I might not be back until late at night. Don't make dinner for me."

"Where are you going? The police bureau? Larissa asked.

"Yes, I need to give a statement" Kevan answered.

"What about me? Don't I need to go? Larissa was a genuine victim in this case. According to protocol, she should also be present.

"You stay home and accompany Wendy, I'll go. Both you and Wendy should stay home during this period."

Kevan reached out and stroked her face. The touch from his fingertips filled his heart with warmth. It dispelled his lingering fears.

Larissa knew what he was worried about, so she complied. "Then come back soon. Be sale on the road."

Kevan did not go to the police bureau but drove out of the city. He drove for a long time belare stopping outside a farm

He had purchased this farm along with several properties within the city. He was attracted to it due to its large area and good environment. Kevan planned to convert the farmhouse into a vacation home in the future after getting a contractor to rebuild it.

Before the actual construction could begin the entire farm was deserted. Not a single person could be seen on the empty and. On the farm, there was a barn that had been unused for many years.

At this moment, the old wooden door of the bar was half-closed. Cries of agony could be heard from inside the barn through the gap.

Kevan pushed the door open and entered. Rays of sunlight flooded in, brightening up the entire barn.

Several people were suspended by ropes and hurg from the central beam of the barn. The cries of agony were coming from them.

Surrounding them were another group of men. They were all dressed differently, but each of them had a baseball bat made from metal in

their hands.

When Kevan entered, the group of men greeted him respectfully. "Mr. Rogers!"

Kevan did not reply. He walked over to one of the ropes.

The unconscious man hanging from that particular rope seemed to be most severely injured, His blood-stained clothes were in tallers, exposing the numerous wounds and scars on his skin. His face was also streaked with blace, masking his original features.

Someone handed Kevan a baseball bat. With a lace devoid of expression, he swung it and struck the man's right leg heavily.

The man cried out in pain and opened his eyes. It was Edmund

When he saw Kewan, a look of fear appeared on his lace, Struggling, he pleaded, "Kevan, I know what I did wrong! I am at fault! Please, let me go! Considering we're relatives, spare my lileli will never lay a hand on Larissa ever again! I will also tell Cody to stop provoking you! Just let me go, Kevan. I'm begging you!"
