Chapter 875

"I'm fine," Wendy said.

Ignoring Larissa, she walked toward the kitchen like a ghost.

Larissa froze for a minute before returning to her room.

Why was everyone acting so strangely today?

Larissa changed into her nightgown and got into bed. She turned off the lights in the bedroom, only leaving a dim bedside lamp on.

The sound of running water from the bathroom stopped.

After a while, a light shone from the bathroom.

Then the light went out

The sound of footsteps gradually approached her.

Larissa couldn't help but ask, "Why did you take such a quick shower today?"

Kevan was a clean freak. He would usually spend at least hall an hour in the shower every day.

It had been less than 15 minutes in total from the time he left the study until now.

Kevan didn't expect her to observe him so closely, but her question didn't catch him off guard.

"I took a shower in the hotel this moming. It's getting late and I'm a little tired. I want to get some rest early." "Oh, I see." Larissa accepted his answer.

Kevan got under the covers. The next second, Larissa felt his warm body pressing up against her back.

Kevan held her within his embrace and draped his arm on her waist.

He covered the back of her hand with his palm and intertwined his fingers with hers.

Kevan buried his face in the curve of her neck and took a deep breath. The scent of roses filled his nostrils. He missed the intimacy they shared before. He would never let her go again, "If your father and Lewis don't approve of us being together." Kevan's husky voice echoed in Larissa's ear as his hot breath warmed the delicate skin behind her neck.

Larissa stiffened in an instant, her mind blank.

After a long while, Larissa broke the silence by asking. "What did you just say?

Her voice was as uptight as her rigid body.

Kevan was well aware that she hadn't heard what he said.

"It's nothing." Now that the moment had passed, he didn't have the courage to repeat the question.

"Go to sleep," he said, closing his eyes.

After Kevan returned, he took on the responsibility of making breakfast once again.

He got up an hour earlier than Larissa. While he was busy in the kitchen, he noticed Wendy all dressed up and preparing to leave.

Wendy didn't expect Kevan to be in the kitchen at this time. When she met his gaze, she was stunned for a lew seconds.

Kevan noticed the shock and worry on her face. Discreetly, he asked, "Ms. Simmons, why are you leaving so early in the morning?"

He remembered Larissa telling him that Wendy had taken a leave of absence from work. She was walling for the doctor's approval to undergo the abortion.

Since she didn't have to go to work, there wasn't a reason for her to leave so early.

"Is it alright for you to go alone? I'll wake Larissa so that she can keep you company."

Putting down the spatula in his hand, Kevan took off his apron and made a move to walk cut of the kitchen

"There's no need! The doctor's clinic is not too far from here, I can go by mysell. There's no need to trouble Larissa!" Wendy stopped Kevan in a hurry.
